In the world of basic cable TV, the USA Network is king. The network, thanks to its returning hit “Burn Notice” and new hits “Royal Pains” and “Blue Collar”, topped the competition with the most-watched basic cable viewership for the year. The breezy, easy going net was tops among the heavily sought-after adults 18-49 demo (that’s up 29% from its 2008 numbers), with “Burn Notice” second in total viewers (a whopping 7.19 million) only to TNT’s veteran cop show “The Closer” (queen of the cable nets with 7.75 million), according to 2009 averages.
Besides USA, the FX Channel also saw strong numbers for 2009, literally riding original shows like the dramatic powerhouse “Sons of Anarchy” and the comedies “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and newcomer “The League” to higher numbers. Overall, the channel was up 10% from its 2008 numbers. Espn, meanwhile, used the addition of Monday Night Football to give it the second highest

And What A Very Gay Week It Was!
Man, this week it just seemed like one fricking thing after another. If New Jersey legislators weren't getting cold feet about gay marriage, then Details was peddling incredibly stupid and homophobic humor while Uganda was debating executing gays and As the World Turns was getting canceled and GLAAD was flailing all over the place like a spastic octopus. Well, I guess the only thing to do is make fun of it all. Or die trying!
How do you solve a problem like Buju Banton? Many in the Glbt community were less than delighted when a Grammy nomination went to uber-homophobe reggae artist Buju Banton. GLAAD started an online petition urging the academy to reject Buju for a Grammy while others are urging a boycott of Grammy sponsors. (And others still are asking if GLAAD knows what GLAAD is doing.)
I, on the other hand,

Ron White picked to play "drunken Yoda" for Comedy Central cartoon

Here comes one of the most brilliant casting moves in television history since Saturday Night Live hired a 12-year-old boy to play Dan Quayle.
Ron White, one-fourth of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, has been cast as the lead voice in a new animated sitcom called "Hounds" for Comedy Central.
The show will be set in a small Southern town where White will play Chicken, "a countrified Yoda with a bottle of Jack and a bag of weed, an opinionated Southern philosopher who considers himself the center of the universe." No offense intended to "Tater Salad," but I can't think of a better person to play that part...until someone resurrects the remains of Sorrell Booke in some kind of horrible government experiment to turn flesh eating zombies into a military weapon.
