“Beam me up, Scotty” is a quote as iconic as Star Trek‘s once-magical automatic doors ― even if Captain Kirk didn’t actually say it. While Star Trek wasn’t the first sci-fi creation to teleport its characters around, its pleasingly sparkly transport scenes quickly captured fans’ imaginations. However, what is beamed up isn’t necessarily what is beamed down.
Simply put, Star Trek transporters, if they were real, would kill their users along the way. No matter the technicalities over moving versus duplicating the bits that make up a Trek crewman, you cannot blast a person into atoms without ending their brain functions and destroying them. You just can’t. Try it (don’t try it). So depending on how lazy a character is, a commute from a starship bridge to the bathroom could be the last thing they ever do.
It’s something that’s fascinated and vexed...

In every generation, there is a scream queen–an actress known for starring in horror films who comes to embody the genre landscape of her time. From Janet Leigh and her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Michelle Gellar to Maika Monroe, these women often originate a beloved character or star in a variety of cutting edge films, pushing the boundaries as cinema evolves.
The jury’s still out on which Gen Z actress will ascend to the scream queen throne, but Sydney Sweeney is making a strong case for her legacy. Though not exclusively known for horror, this versatile actress specializes in creating fearsome characters that break the mold set by her predecessors. With her wide eyes and angelic smile, Sweeney has a knack for luring us in with the perception of innocence only to shock us with a cutting remark or withering glare.

Madame Web Star Sydney Sweeney Reveals Being One With Spiders After Doing The Marvel Movie (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Dakota Johnson led Madame Web, which is already in the theatres, but the film is not getting as much love as one expected. It also features Euphoria fame Sydney Sweeney, whose feelings for the crawling bugs have changed after doing the Marvel movie. Sydney plays the role of Spider-Woman Julia Cornwall in the film, and recently, in an interview, she revealed being more compassionate towards the spiders. Scroll below to know.
The movie is in the Spider-Man universe, like Venom and Morbius, but it is unclear in which Peter Parker’s world the story is set. Tom Holland is the MCU’s web-slinging superhero, and with 2021’s No Way Home, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have also joined the Sony-Marvel universe. S.J. Clarkson's new film "Madame Web" is due out in theaters on February 14, 2024, and I couldn't be more excited. In 2023, superhero films more or less officially died out, as high-profile releases from both Marvel Studios and the DC arm of Warner Bros. fizzled spectacularly, generating far less money and enthusiasm than the genre's flicks from just a few years previous. It will take several years, however, for the industry to pivot away from superheroes entirely, and there are still going to be some interesting experiments/absurdities to enjoy while on our way out the door. Madame Web is an obscure supporting player from Spider-Man comics, but the industry has done such a good job of scraping the barrel for popular superhero characters that it now has to rely on...

System of a Down hosted their only scheduled performance of 2023 at Las Vegas’ inaugural Sick New World festival on Saturday, and the top-billed heavy metal outfit did not hold back for their first live set in over a year.
The Grammy-winning rock quartet, who have only made sporadic on-stage appearances since their contentious hiatus in 2006, closed the main stage for the single-day event and unleashed one blistering hit after another, including the trio of breakout singles, “Chop Suey!” (which still scares singer Serj Tankian to this day), “Toxicity,” and “Aerials,” from 2001’s Toxicity.
The band also revived several rarities from their 1998 self-titled debut like “Soil,” “Darts,” “Suite-Pee,” and “Peephole,” the last receiving its first live rendition in 10 years. The stacked setlist truly spanned the group’s whole career as they played the early era demo track “Dam” along with their two 2020 comeback tracks, “Genocidal Humanoidz” and “Protect the Land.” Watch...

Sylvester Stallone has responded to claims he and his wife Jennifer Flavin are experiencing some turbulence in their relationship.
Stallone was seen in pictures shared by the Daily Mail covering up his arm tattoo of Flavin, instead replacing it with an image of Butkus, Rocky Balboa’s large pet dog in the hit films.
The tattoo was updated by artist Zach Perez, who posted pics of the inking last week. They appear to have since been taken down.
The Mail then picked up on the fact Flavin, whom Stallone married in 1997, had recently posted a photo of her and their three girls, writing “the 4 of us forever,” calling them her “priority.”

That’s right folks… Its time to start planning for SFW9, coming to you next March in Wales and we have a little bit of bad news but a massive whole bunch of good news to soften that blow. First things first though: there are only 18, yes 18 rooms left on site for the weekend so if you don’t have your tickets then you better get on that now. So first off here is a little comment from Sfw themselves with a little bad news…

Steven Shainberg’s Rupture begins with an image of something I hate – a spider – and ends with another image of something I also hate – another spider. Is there any correlation between my hatred of spiders and my issues with this film? No, I’ve survived the likes of Eight Legged Freaks and Spiders 3D. My qualms are instead with Brian Nelson’s screenplay, based on a half-baked “idea” torn from one single sequence in Tim Miller’s Deadpool. While I might hate surprise spiders, (others do too, so you’re welcome), steadfast direction and tingling thrills are worth any arachnophobia jolts. Alas, these are two things that escape Shainberg’s cold, imprisoning experiment. Two of many.

How many “Spiders” films are there now on DVD? There’s my favourite: 2000s Spiders, directed by Gary Jones (Mosquito) and starring Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time’s Evil Queen), which had a sequel in 2001. Then there’s Spiders 3D. Originally released in 3D in 2013, the film dropped the “3D” from its title when it hit DVD the same year (though the 3D blu-ray didn’t)… And now comes Spiders, a retitling of an Italian monster-movie originally called Arachnicide – a much cooler title, yet one I’m guessing was too highbrow from the plebians that UK supermarkets think their “audiences” are…

When you walk into a film titled Big Ass Spider, you should simultaneously know what to expect – yet have no idea what kind of insanity awaits. B-Movies are often hit and miss because replicating unintentional comedy proves to be a frequently underestimated task, and we’ve already seen channels like SyFy over-bloat and genetically alter every animal in the book to create killer Saturday night features. There’s been Ice Spiders, Camel Spiders, Spiders 3D, Jungle Spiders – but has there ever been a Big Ass Spider?! I mean, yeah, we’ve seen “big ass” spiders, but have you seen The Big Ass Spider?! To say you get what you pay for is an understatement with Mike Mendez’s Big Ass Spider, but to write it off as yet another low-budget schlock-fest would also be a disservice – unless a gigantic CGI spider skewering park-goers like human shish kabobs doesn’t sound all that appealing to you.

You already know what you're in for if you sit down to watch a movie called, simply enough, Spiders. (Doubly so if the film happens to be also known as Spiders 3D.) You're going to get a plot that's been old hat since about 1958, a bunch of airy narrative wheel-spinning that exists mainly to stretch a few crazy spider sequences into a feature-length film, and (obviously) a bunch of spiders running amok and attaching themselves to all sorts of unfortunate people. In the case of Tibor Takacs' half-draggy and half enjoyably stupid Spiders 3D, you'll get all of that and more. Or less, depending on how you approach goofy monster movies about gigantic mutated spiders.
There's only so much charity one can afford to such a plainly low-shooting piece of B-movie silliness, but at its best moments Spiders (3D) does manage to evoke the mutated creatures flicks of the '50s and '60s.

Completing our trio of exclusive interviews with the stars and director of Spiders 3D, comes an interview with Patrick Muldoon, a man known to many as Zander Barcalow from Starship Troopers. We start at the beginning, from his days loving Star Wars, Rocky and Brando, to what role he gets recognized for most (he also starred on Melrose Place, Days Of Our Lives, and other hit shows), to upcoming projects, his love of arachnids (he’s also been in Ice Spiders), and his working relationship with director Tibor Takacs (who directed Ice Spiders). Here we go! Stay tuned to the end of the interview for three all new, spiffy stills from the film that is out on VOD Right Now.
FM: What movies and TV did you grow up watching and loving? What made you want to be an actor?
Patrick Muldoon: I didn’t watch a lot of movies growing up.

Campbell plays Rachel, a health department worker who teams with her estranged husband, Mta official Jason (Patrick Muldoon) to stop a giant spider invasion of New York, in the Tibor Takacs-directed film. It’s the latest in a string of genre roles for the actress, also including the 2001 Maniacs movies, Drive Angry and the remakes of Day Of The Dead and The Wicker Man. She was also an executive producer on this year’s Texas Chainsaw 3D.
Fangoria: How did you become involved with Spiders?
Christa Campbell: Tibor and I have worked together on a few other films [among them Mansquito and Kraken: Tentacles Of The Deep], and when Spiders was being talked about, he asked me if I would play Rachel. I read the script and loved it, so I was immediately in.

Title: Spiders Director: Tibor Takacs Starring: Patrick Muldoon, Christa Campbell, Sydney Sweeney, William Hope, Pete Lee-Wilson A serviceable enough B-feature of the sort that could appropriately induce nightmares in adolescents and arachnophobes, modestly budgeted horror offering “Spiders” opts for action antics when a bit more creepy-crawly tension and mystery would have better suited its story. “Spiders” is set in New York City, but centers around mutant arachnids whose DNA was first discovered in a spacecraft found deep under a Russian ice mountain more than 20 years ago. Gene-spliced in space with many animals, it only took with spiders. This becomes a problem for transit supervisor Jason Cole (Patrick Muldoon) when [ Read More ]

You have to admire Spiders for its gumption. On what must have been a very limited budget, director Tibor Takacs (The Gate) goes for the gold, setting the creature feature in New York City and having it culminate with a giant queen spider rampaging through city streets. Pluck, in and of itself, however, does not automatically lead to the desired result, and Takacs is unable to align ambition and execution.
On an ordinary, hectic day in Lower Manhattan, Jason Cole (Patrick Muldoon) is overseeing operation of the city’s subway system. The expected chaos of being a supervisor for the transit authority is abruptly interrupted by falling debris from an abandoned Russian space station. One of Jason’s subordinates soon discovers that the debris has occupants, and they are not peaceful.

Although I hate spiders with an undying passion, I’m strangely drawn to monster movies which feature the creatures in all their disturbing glory. That said, “The Gate” director Tibor Takac’s “Spiders 3D” might be too much for me to handle. Even if the spiders look terrible, seeing something with eight legs flying towards my face would be too horrifying for words. To get people talking about this three-dimensional nightmare, a full trailer and a brand new poster have been unleashed upon the interwebs. Even that word kind of creeps me out. Here’s what the film is all about: Following a crash of an old Soviet space station in New York City’s subway tunnel, a new species of poisonous spiders is discovered. Inadvertently the spiders mutate to gigantic proportions and wreak havoc on the entire city. “Spiders 3D,” which stars William Hope, Patrick Muldoon, Jon Mack, and Christa Campbell,...

Alright guys, I’ll level with you – I hate spiders. Everyone has that one creepy, crawly thing that grosses them out to no end, and the thought of a little fat fuzzy black arachnid scurrying by my toes gives me instantaneous chills. Just one of those things that isn’t for me, yeah? But don’t think I hide my eyes when they’re around or anything, as I love catching Eight Legged Freaks whenever it’s running on syndication, so I took Tibor Takács’ Spiders 3D as a welcome festival opener.

This movie sounds amazing. Giant 3D mutant spiders are linked to the Soviet space program. Having not yet seen it, I can only imagine they are somehow fueled by both vodka and the fallout from Chernobyl. I suspect an evil re-animated Brezhnev is behind it all.
But enough of my speculation, here’s part of the official synopsis for Tibor Takacs’ Spiders 3D and the new trailer.
The body of an Mta subway worker is discovered after the satellite crash and his death ruled an accident. Jason Cole (Patrick Muldoon), the Mta line supervisor, is given clearance to re-open the station by a group of government agencies coordinated by Colonel Jenkins (William Hope) and Russian scientist Dr. Aranov (Pete Lee Wilson).
