Zach Braff’s “A Good Person” is flawed in many ways, but its saving grace is the characters that keep your eyes on the screen even if you’re wondering by the end what the point of it all was. “A Good Person” had great intentions but seemed more like a half-baked story than a two-hour movie. But, with actors like Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman, there is no denying that it is a movie worth watching for their performances alone. Seeing them together is a delight, and sometimes heartfelt, sometimes angry, “A Good Person” is a roller coaster of emotions. Let’s break down some of the important characters and their arcs in the film.

Christopher Walken and Margot Kidder star in Shoot the Sun Down, a 1978 counter-culture Western.
The same year that Christopher Walken (Seven Psychopaths) won an Oscar for The Deer Hunter (1978) and Margot Kidder was whisked away in Superman (1978), they starred in of David Leeds’ counter-culture Western Shoot the Sun Down.
A stylized meditation on America’s history of violence, in the tradition of Sergio Leone (The Good, The Bad and the Ugly), the movie observes the intersection of a former Confederate soldier-turned-bounty hunter (Walken), a British maidservant desperate to escape indentured servitude (Kidder), and a vicious mercenary in search of Native American scalps and Montezuma’s gold (Geoffrey Lewis, Miss Nobody).
Kino’s restored director’s cut of Shoot the Sun Down, director/co-writer Leeds’ only feature, marks the film’s first-ever release on Blu-ray or DVD.

Despite his strange looks, Franc is a soft-centered soul with a talent for music who becomes the talk of the town with the help of enchanting nightclub singer Lucille. J. Todd Harris is a film producer living in Los Angeles. His credits include “Bottle Shock,” “The Kids Are All Right,” “The Family Tree” and “Miss Nobody” — all shot in California. I just wrapped an independent movie here in Los Angeles, a musical called “Lucky Stiff” from “Jeffrey” director Christopher Ashley. It’s a pretty expensive movie by indie standards, but the experience was a joy because everything we needed was here, with the best film professionals in the world available and eager to work. Eager? Nay, thankful. If there was one overriding sentiment expressed during our just-over-five-week shoot, it was how grateful everyone on the crew was to have a movie shooting at home in Los Angeles. Like so many productions these days, it would have been incredibly easy for us not to. There were many reasons we chose Los Angeles, despite the fact that other states have a more accessible and.

Hey, if you needed someone to direct a naive girl’s transformation from Miss Nobody to Miss Kill Everyone at the Prom with her Groovy Telekinetic Powers, you probably could do worse than the girl who directed the Hilary Swank drama “Boys Don’t Cry”. Which is probably why Kimberly Peirce is currently in talks to direct the remake of “Carrie” for the folks at Screen Gems. “Carrie” will be based on the Stephen King book that was originally adapted into a film of the same name starring Sissy Spacek back in 1976. The movie also co-starred John Travolta and Amy Irving, and was a pretty big hit back then. If she signs on, Peirce will direct from a script by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. His version of “Carrie” is said to be more faithful to the King book, and more “grounded” in reality than the 1976 movie. I haven’t a clue how...

Prejudice; I admit I have it. It's hard to have high expectations of a movie like A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, which does exactly what you'd expect, but that's not much.
When I first heard about A Good Old Fashioned Orgy I kept confusing it with Cummings Farm, a darkly comic 2009 Aff selection with a very similar plot and plot points; vacation home, old friends, a plan to have group sex. Cummings Farm was retitled All American Orgy for its DVD release, which included some heinously misleading cover art implying it's a sophomoric sex-romp instead of a dark relationship comedy/character study. So I readily admit I wanted to completely dismiss A Good Old Fashioned Orgy as something similar.
But the cast includes Leslie Bibb (the underrated Aff 2010 selection Miss Nobody), and Tyler Labine (Tucker & Dale vs Evil), two actors who've proven they have incredible talent. Coupled with co-filmmaker Peter Huyck...

It's not a great week for new movies in Austin. The two big Hollywood movies are getting mixed-at-best reviews and only one arthouse film is opening (but it does have Kevin Kline in it). Frankly, I think a better option that would let you enjoy Zookeeper actress Leslie Bibb in a dark comedy about horrible bosses would be Miss Nobody, which played Austin Film Festival last year and is now available on Netflix Watch Instantly.
If none of the new movies grab you, there are not only lots of carryover options from previous weeks but special screenings galore. I am most excited that the Paramount is showing Brazil on Sunday -- twice, although I plan to see it only once. The Paramount also has an Albert Brooks double-feature of Modern Romance and Broadcast News on Tuesday and Wednesday; check their calendar for specifics. And if you're a Sam Peckinpah fan,...

It’s a new year, and the posters are still coming. Let’s have fun and look at a few, shall we?
1. The Green Hornet: Grade F
What else could be said about this poster other than the fact it looks very cheap, and thrown together? It doesn’t look as if there was any attention to detail at all.
This is a good start to the year.
2. Cedar Rapids: Grade C+
The uninhibited joy in Ed Helms’ face is cause for a chuckle, and the sparse background also keeps everything neat and uncluttered.
3. Hall Pass: Grade D
This doesn’t even look like Own Wilson. If his name wasn’t on the poster, I never would have known. Now, that really isn’t a bad thing, the very smoothed out, photoshopped look is.
4. Kutsal Damacana: Grade B-
My love for the goofy irreverence of Bollywood continues to grow with this poster.

On a hot but breezy September afternoon, I joined the cast and crew of The Man Who Never Cried at a small cemetery tucked away east of I-30. A short film by Austin-based director/screenwriter Bradley Jackson, The Man Who Never Cried features Keir O’Donnell (Wedding Crashers, Miss Nobody), Jess Weixler (Teeth), and local actresses Madison Burge (Friday Night Lights) and Heather Kafka (Lovers of Hate). The story's central character is Rafe Winston (O'Donnell), who has never cried in his life. When his father passes away, he must find a way to cry so he can finally connect with the rest of humanity. He attempts to shed his first tear before the funeral -- but will he succeed?
The Man Who Never Cried was selected earlier this year to compete as a finalist in the Doorpost Film Project, an international film competition based out of Nashville. Hundreds of submissions were sent to the competition,...

I can’t imagine that many people grow up with the desire to be a cog in the wheel of a corporation. When asked, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” most children are ambitious – a doctor, a lawyer, a veterinarian, an architect. It is seldom, if ever, that you hear the likely outcome. There’s no shame in a less-esteemed position. After all, if everyone grew up to be lawyers, who would collect our garbage, fix our plumbing, or install our cable? The real heroes, if you ask me.

Sarah Jane McKinney (Leslie Bibb) begins Miss Nobody as a nobody -- a miss nobody, if you will -- as a secretary at Judge Pharmaceuticals. Sarah Jane applies for a significant promotion and with a few resume “enhancements” she gets it, but before she moves into her new office she is usurped by Milo (Brandon Routh) and Sarah Jane becomes Milo’s secretary. At the urging of her best friend and fellow secretary, Charmaine (Missi Pyle), Sarah Jane decides to make a play for Milo (if she cannot be the boss, she might as well be the boss’ wife). Milo bites, but Sarah Jane promptly learns that Milo is already engaged. Milo is thus killed by an umbrella. With a statue of Saint George (do not ask) looking out for her, Sarah Jane promptly murders her way to the top of the corporate ladder of Judge Pharmaceuticals -- apparently without...

Likeable murderers in film are usually limited to those we admire for their style, not for being sweet and sympathetic. Miss Nobody is an exception and one of the sweetest black comedies you'll likely ever see from its vivacious opening credits til the startling final shot.
With its Pushing Daisies sensibilities, Miss Nobody is the colorful and cheerful murders-by-number tale of an insignificant admin assistant who takes a chance and becomes an executive ... with a pesky little body count. The invisibly mousey Sarah Jane McKinney (Leslie Bibb) follows up on her friend's suggestion to apply for a promotion, only to find her true calling as she climbs a particularly deadly corporate ladder. When a most fortunate accident launches Sarah Jane's career, she finds herself at the mercy of some of the most Machiavellian corporate execs on screen. This is a truly cutthroat business environment, leaving Sarah Jane no choice but...

Well, other than not being able to brave the outside world early enough to attend the “Hair of the Dog” brunch (hosted by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore -- the screenwriters of The Hangover), my Sunday was not as painful as expected. I was slightly dazed and confused when I arrived at the Convention Center for the screening of The Spirit Molecule, but I did not feel too guilty about my mental state after watching this insightful documentary about dimethyltryptamine (Dmt). I had a few problems with the editing and structure, but otherwise I think The Spirit Molecule is a mind-blowing experience. Let’s just say that I left the theater totally wanting to try some dimethyltryptamine... ...But instead, I went to the Miss Nobody screening. Miss Nobody is a very strange film. It borrows heavily from Amelie in terms of visual style, but the tone is completely different. In a nutshell,...

I had the chance to read the script for a new webseries coming to you by the Ronalds Brothers and starring Judd Nelson, and it was pretty impressive. Now I get to offer up a first look trailer, and knowing what I do about the series, I'm very hopeful for this one. Take a look at some info from the press release, and then check out the trailer. Shot entirely on the new still camera (Canon 5D Mark II), Here & Now is a whimsical web series with a comedic flare. The series stars Judd Nelson who plays a guy that looks like Judd Nelson, and even though he isn’t, on occasion, he uses “Judd’s” identity to woo the ladies. Playing opposite Nelson is Kevin Berman who plays David, a barbershop owner stuck in a rut and looking for a second lease on life. This is a sweet but...

Trailers for movies of all shapes and sizes made their way online, and no, that's not a crack at Michael Moore. But the famed documentarian has a new film about the bailout and economic crisis coming out later this year and the first teaser (with no footage from the movie) debuted Friday night.
We've got some other trailers featuring Robin Williams and John Travolta, Jean Claude Van Damme, and Rachel McAdams, movies about pretty serial killers, Charles Darwin, dysfunctional families, and falling for Zooey Deschanel. And then there's the trailer for Martin Scorese's Shutter Island, which doesn't really look like a Scorsese picture.

Who's quirky, nice, and chock full of murder? Apparently Miss Nobody is, and you should be mindful of this fact - especially if you're just above her in the corporate ladder. The setup centers around a young mildly neurotic secretary, played by Leslie Bibb, who seems to have a knack for stumbling into murdering her competitors. A brand new trailer is embedded below for your review; it looks damned funny and gets bonus points for being cool enough to include Air in the soundtrack!
No release date is yet announced for this funny looking film, but we'll keep you tuned!

The goodly ones at Quiet Earth have found the first trailer for Miss Nobody, a black comedy that seems to be be relocating the Heathers or Jawbreaker type of murder mirth to a corporate setting. Think 9 to 5 or Office Space with bodies hidden behind the filing cabinet. The film is directed by Tim Cox, previously neither famous or even famous for his monster movies like Larva or Mammoth (if Miss Nobody flies, even a little bit, perhaps he can adopt it as his de facto debut) and stars Leslie Bibb, Missi Pyle, Patrick Fischler, Brandon Routh, Kathy Baker and Vivica A. Fox. See the trailer embedded after this break. You will also spot Eddie Jemison in the trailer here. He was in the Ocean's 11, 12 and 13 series, as well as playing Nameless Numberhead Man in Steven Soderbergh's fantastic Schizopolis, for which I will always love him. I ...

I guess the first major victory for Leslie Bibb was appearing on the show Popular, which led a couple years later to playing Mrs. Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights, and from there she had the great morning after scene in Iron Man, wearing Tony Stark's shirt.
But Bibb is getting a big, juicy leading role in the small dark comedy, Miss Nobody. I don't want to reveal anything about the plot; I'll let the trailer do that for you. But for a shoestring budget project, Miss Nobody has a pretty good cast, including Kathy Baker, Adam Goldberg, Brandon Routh, Vivica A. Fox, Barry Bostwick, Missi Pyle, and Eddie Jemison.
For the most part, I like what I see out of the trailer; it could be tremendously quirky in just the right way:...

The trailer for the "Miss Nobody" comedy, starring Leslie Bibb, Adam Goldberg, Brandon Routh, and Vivica A Fox, has appeared online. The new film has nothing to do with Jared Leto's "Mr. Nobody." Plot: A mild-mannered secretary discovers that she has a talent for murder as she ascends the corporate ladder. "Miss Nobody" began filming in 2007 and judging by the trailer was planned as a 2008 release. It currently does not have a distributor and has not appeared at any film festivals. A mild-mannered secretary discovers that she has a talent for murder as she ascends the corporate ladder. In "Miss Nobody", Leslie Bibb stars as Sarah Jane McKinney whose life seems to be ordinary on the outside layer but much more complicated underneath.
Although labeled as an indie movie, the film has lined-up several familiar faces such as Brandon Routh, Adam Godlberg, Kathy Baker, and Vivica A. Fox. The pic is directed by Tim Cox who previously directed music videos and several TV movies such as "Alien Lockdown" and "Mammoth". The screenplay meanwhile, uses the talent of newcomer Dough Steinberg who wrote for a number of TV series episodes.
The production had been kicked off in the fourth quarter of 2007 but the movie has not been screened at any festivals nor it has a distributor. The released trailer, however, cited "In Theaters 2008" which probably was not further edited from the initial plan.

Our friends over at Quiet Earth have dug up another great trailer for a film that I honestly didn't know existed. Miss Nobody is an indie that stars Leslie Bibb as Sarah Jane McKinney, a mild-mannered secretary who discovers that she has a talent for murder as she ascends the corporate ladder. In addition to Bibb, this stars Brandon Routh, Adam Goldberg, Eddie Jemison, and a handful of other actors you may recognize. It's also one of the only times that I don't think Leslie Bibb looks gorgeous, which is actually impressive, because I think her character is supposed to be the kind who doesn't stand out in a crowd. Watch the trailer for Tim Cox' Miss Nobody: Miss Nobody is directed by Tim Cox, who got his start as storyboard artist for commercials and music videos before going on to direct a few Sci Fi Channel movies like Alien Lockdown,...

Here's a weird one for ya. Coming from director Tim Cox, who has regaled us for years with schlocky Scifi creature features with names like Gryphon, Mammoth, and Larva, comes a dark comedy called Miss Nobody. I actually read about the film a year ago and then nadda. That is, until we found ourselves in possession of the film's first trailer. This is pretty cool considering there isn't even a single piece of promotional art out there yet.
Synopsis:
A mild-mannered secretary discovers that she has a talent for murder as she ascends the corporate ladder.
Miss Nobody has a great cast. It stars Leslie Bibb, Adam Goldberg, Brandon Routh, and Vivica A. Fox.
Check out the trailer after the break.

Adam Goldberg's been a hero to the thinking man and woman since his role as the hilarious back seat misanthrope who ultimately just wanted to dance in "Dazed and Confused." He acts, he writes, he directs, and with this long-in-coming foray into music as LANDy, he lays himself bare. The 18-track album "Eros and Omissions," recorded with help from Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips, Earlimart's Aaron Espinoza and others, hits June 23rd. I got a chance to talk with Goldberg, after a bit of call juggling, about expressing himself through music, what's on his mind, and the new video for the track "Bff!", which you can watch below. A few confessions follow, but then, I think that's just his nature.
Exclusive music video premiere -- LANDy's "Bff!", from the new album "Eros and Omissions":
How are you doing?
Ah, doing all right, been a little frantic. But ah,...

Kevin James really is the King of Queens, as not one, but two gorgeous leading ladies are announced for his new comedy The Zookeeper. In line for a piece of the big man are Rosario Dawson and Talladega Nights' Leslie Bibb. The rom-com, produced by Adam Sandler's company Happy Madison, follows a bunch of zoo animals who attempt to teach their cuddly keeper a bit of animal magic for dating and mating so that he can tempt his ideal woman back. So essentially, expect plenty of Doctor Dolittle-ing around with a bit of Animal Attraction (remember when Wolverine did rom-coms?) thrown in for good measure.Dawson is currently playing the perpetually put-down Persephone in Greek Gods go modern fantasy-comedy Percy Jackson, while Bibb has murder-comedy Miss Nobody, sex-fest A Good Old Fashioned Orgy and the much more serious thriller Law Abiding Citizen (with Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx...

We write about a lot of actors, directors and even producers on CinemaSpy, but it takes many more talents to make a successful (or unsuccessful, for that matter) film and television show. It is with pleasure, then, that we present a news story about a member of the filmmaking profession with a specialism that rarely makes the headlines: composing. Congratulations to composer John Dickson! For the second successive year he has received the Ascap award for Top Television series for his work on one of our favourite shows, the USA Network hit Burn Notice.
Ascap - the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers - represents over 8.5 million copyrighted musical works from more than 350,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers. The Top Television Series Award is presented to an Ascap composer who has written themes and underscores for a high rated TV series in the previous year. John Dickson is no stranger to the award,...

Marley Shelton and Adam Goldberg are set to star in Untitled, an indie feature about a tortured musician at odds with his successful brother.
Goldberg will play Adrian, a composer whose life takes a dramatic turn when he falls in love with Madeleine (Shelton), who makes her living as an art gallery owner who profits from the work of Adrian's brother.
The film, directed by Jonathan Parker, was written by Parker and Catherine di Napoli. Parker and di Napoli are producing with Andreas Olavarria and Matt Luber.
Goldberg, who stars in the indie feature 2 Days in Paris, also will star opposite Leslie Bibb in Miss Nobody. He is repped by ICM, Luber Roklin Entertainment and attorney PJ Shapiro.
Shelton (Grindhouse) also stars in the upcoming Our Lady of Victory. She is repped by UTA, Untitled and attorney John LaViolette.
