Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx is in talks to star alongside Gerard Butler in Frank Darabont’s upcoming thriller “Law Abiding Citizen,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The trade says the script follows a successful assistant D.A. (Butler) who finds himself at the center of a vigilante plot hatched by a traumatized victim of the legal system (Foxx).
After finding out that one of his wife and daughter’s murderers will be set free via a plea bargain, Foxx’s character decides to take revenge against those responsible for the murders and the deal.
Darabont is directing a script by Kurt Wimmer, the guy who brought us “Equilibrium” and the disappointing “Ultraviolet.” Darabont’s latest was “The Mist.”
Butler, who was most recently seen in “Nim’s Island,” will next star in Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla,” followed by Robert Luketic’s “The Ugly Truth.”

Forest Whitaker is set to direct and star in “What a Wonderful World,” a biopic based on the life of Louis Armstrong, according to Variety.
The trade says the film will kick off during the musician’s impoverished early years in New Orleans and primarily chronicle his career as a trumpet virtuoso and improvisational singer.
Whitaker will direct a script by Ronald Bass, screenwriter of “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”
"Armstrong left a monumental mark on our lives and our culture," Whitaker told Variety.
This is not the first time Whitaker will take on a Jazz project. In 1988, the filmmaker starred as Charlie “Bird” Parker in Clint Eastwood’s “Bird.”
Whitaker’s directing credits include 2004’s comedy “First Daughter.” He most recently starred in “Street Kings.” Upcoming projects include “Powder Blue” and “Repossession Mambo.”
Sounds like an interesting project. But will Whitaker be able to match Taylor Hackford’s fabulous biopic “Ray”? We shall see…

In celebration of this release, Icons and Tim Sullivan have decided to reprint 2 vintage interviews with George A. Romero and Greg Nicotero from Shock N Roll when it was a feature on Upcoming Horror Movies.com. These are among 2 of my personal fave interviews that Tim conducted for Land's release back in 2005. So sit back and enjoy a candid chat with both Romero and Nicotero about Land Of The Dead! Icons Of Fright and Tim Sullivan's Shock N Roll present Issue 3: This Land Was Bled For You & Me! Ray star Kerry Washington insists Samuel L. Jackson makes a brilliant co-star - because he is so helpful.
The pair star in new thriller Lakeview Terrace and Washington admits that she was amazed by his dedication to the job.
She tells the New York Daily News, "The thing about him is that you better make sure you have your homework done, because if not, he will do it for you.
"He'll move a light, hand you your script pages, whatever needs to be done. He's so professional, so he expects the same of everybody around him, which I love."

A gripping scene involving Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington and a knife has apparently been eliminated from the up-and-coming drama thriller "Lakeview Terrace". Report on the matter claimed that the particular footage has been put aside because Washington's character who supposedly should be the sane one looks like she is losing her mind.
Confirming the matter, the "Ray" actress opened up about the scene where she threatens Jackson's character with a knife. "It got removed," gushed the 31-year-old. "Samuel L. Jackson follows me back into my house and I seduce him to the point where he is drawn in and then I threaten his life with a knife."
She then explained further stating, "The producers felt like, at that point in the film, my character was the only sane one and they needed her to stay sane in the mix. She was losing it." Though the scene was chopped out,

Well, I wrote a post about the cover of the forthcoming Incredible Hulk DVD and a lot of you seemed to be into it, so I’m following that post up with this: details about which features will be included on both the Blu-Ray and DVD versions of The Incredible Hulk.
You can head over to Slash Film for the full tech specs, but don’t get too giddy; no confirmation that Edward Norton’s cut of the film will be included on either the DVD or Blu-Ray.The only things specified in Slash Film’s tech specs are the standard “deleted scenes,” along with an “alternate opening.” Could mean nothing, could mean everything.
The Blu-Ray does have one really cool feature: using your Blu-Ray player’s internet connection, you can swap favorite scenes with friends or even engage in live chat as you watch the movie together.

For this second edition of our “Memorable Trailers” series, I picked the wonderful theatrical trailer for Taylor Hackford’s “Ray,” the Oscar-winning Ray Charles biopic starring Jamie Foxx, Regina King and Kerry Washington.
There’s really not much to say about this trailer except that it’s a superbly structured introduction to one of the best films of 2004. The captivating music and the preview of Foxx’s mesmerizing performance just made me fall in love with it straight away.

Michelle Obama gave the kind of intimate, emotional endorsement only a wife could give in her headlining speech kicking off the Democratic National Convention on Monday night. She recalled her husband, Barack Obama, as a nervous new dad, before the hype and hoopla of his life on the national stage, and said he has not been changed by politics. "He's the same man who drove me and our new baby daughter home from the hospital 10 years ago this summer," said Michelle, "inching along at a snail's pace, peering anxiously at us in the rearview mirror, feeling the whole weight of

Ray star Kerry Washington is laughing off reports she wrecked Chris Rock's marriage, insisting the comedian and his wife are still very much together.
The actress claims many people "bought the hype" when Washington played a home wrecker in Rock's movie I Think I Love My Wife, but she never had a real romance with the comic.
Washington says, "First of all, Chris Rock is still married. And his wife picked out a beautiful gift for me after we finished shooting: a Marc Jacobs purse... It was only a movie."
Meanwhile, Washington insists she's enjoying the single life after breaking off her engagement to actor David Moscow: "I'm in a really good place right now. Not being with someone is a good time to learn about yourself."

According to Slash Film, “The DVD release of Wall-e will include a short film would be “very connected to Wall-e.” Pixar has done this in past releases with Mike’s Car on Monster’s Inc, Jack Jack Attack on The Incredibles, Mater and The Ghostlight with Cars, and Your Friend The Rat on Ratatouille (which Wall-e himself has an animated cameo in). The short film on Wall-e will be titled Burn-e. In the feature film there is a sequence where Eve and Wall-e fly around the Axiom Starliner, and enter through a door locking a poor welder bot on the outside of the ship. The bot bangs his fists against the door after he realizes that he has been locked out. You can watch a clip of the sequence Here. Apparently the welder bot is actually named Burn-e, complete with a logo on the side of his head.” So, for

Taylor Hackford will direct “Tenn,” a drama about the life of playwright Tennessee Williams, according to Variety.
The biopic focuses on how Williams’ relationships with his close family members pushed him to write famous plays such as “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “The Glass Menagerie.”
Hackford will be directing a script by Robin Shushan, who recently wrote a screenplay based on the J. Paul Getty kidnapping for Peter Berg.
The project’s producer Michael Ohoven said the film will bear some similarities to “Capote,” in which author Truman Capote developed a special relationship with one of two murderers.
Hackford last directed the Ray Charles biopic “Ray.” He recently wrapped filming for “Love Ranch,” a drama starring his wife Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci.

Robert Redford, Ray star Kerry Washington and John Legend joined supporters of the arts when they urged lawmakers to boost funds for the National Endowment for the Arts on Tuesday.
The three stars were on hand to address U.S. politicians during the Arts Advocacy Day in Congress.
They urged lawmakers to restore a funding high of $176 million (GBP88 million) handed out in 1992.
Congress slashed arts funds in the mid-1990s and even tried to dissolve the Nea, but the agency survived.
Speaking to Congress on Tuesday, Redford explained his Sundance Film Festival in Utah was made possible by an Nea grant.
