Shooting the hats off unsuspecting guards. Clones of Robbie Coltrane and Sean Bean made entirely out of boxes. Running out of bullets and slapping your friends to death with your bare hands in multiplayer.
Yes, it's fair to say that Rare's GoldenEye left its mark on a generation of console owners, with the seminal first-person shooter becoming one of the Nintendo 64's key games. Yet according to designer Martin Hollis, speaking at the recent GameCity conference, GoldenEye could have been a very different game.
Hardly an obvious fit for Nintendo's family-friendly image, GoldenEye initially left the Big N's design legend Shigeru Miyamoto nonplussed - particularly in an early build of the game, where the flowing gore was akin to "that moment...

Jade-Martina Lynch never thought she'd make it as a Big Brother housemate, even though it had been on her bucket list for years. "I don't really find myself quite interesting," she joked when we met her at the contestants' secret hotel, where they're all being holed up before Tuesday's big launch night.
But Big Brother bosses must have disagreed, as Jade-Martina's about to head into the house. Before she did, though, we grabbed her for an exclusive chat about her dislike of the Catholic church, her polyamorous lifestyle and her history of being bullied...
1. Jade-Martina is doing the show to learn more about herself.
"I've never felt ready enough to do it until now, and I never thought I'd get in, but the reason why I want to do it is because I want to find someone else who's like me, because I've never met anyone like me," she said.

Whether you’re a fan of the pink striped shirt or not, you wear it with pride because you love your job and you’ve tried your hardest to be able to pull it off. No one has swag like a Debenhams employee, and most people don’t have to climb as many stairs in their day as you do so at least you’re saving money on a gym membership. Seriously, thank goodness for the invention of escalators.
Whilst it may be Britain’s and your favourite department store, you’re going to have your good days and your bad days. Although this can be said for any retail store, you sometimes have to convince yourself that you do love your job whereas some days you’ll be crying for overtime because you don’t want to go home. Is Vin Diesel going to have to choke a witch? Chances are pretty high with his upcoming century-spanning fantasy film, The Last Witch Hunter, that sees him as the titular hero tracking down the broom-riding bad lasses.
Though there’s nothing in terms of footage that has boiled over from the promotional pot, Mr. Diesel has been keen to keep his fans interested in a film that won’t see him growling like an engine whilst being sat behind one for a change, thanks to a brand new close up of the man himself. He’s intense, he’s thoughtful, he’s hairier than we’ve ever seen him. Look on and tremble at the untrimmed Diesel. Tremble, we say!
Directed by the crazy The Crazies director Breck Eisner, The Last Witch Hunter sounds like Highlander with added warts, as Diesel runs around modern day New York trying to stop...

Nintendo’s smash hit (too easy?) Super Smash Bros is back after a long break of almost two months. Yes, I am playfully referring to the recent release of Super Smash Bros for 3Ds, but make no mistake; Super Smash Bros Wii U is a very different game from its 3Ds counterpart.
Yes, all the characters are the same, but on the Wii U they are all captured in brilliant HD at sixty frames-per-second, compared to their fun, cel-shaded appearance on the 3Ds. And with such an enormous cast of forty-nine characters so far there is still a lot to discover and master. Not to mention, that with this rendition of Ssb, all characters can be customized to your liking with altered move sets and attributes. I think it’s safe to say the Sons of Anarchy went easy on us this week.
After last Tuesday’s super-sized, thoroughly brutal premiere, the final season’s second installment was much less of a roller coaster ride — y’know, as far as Sons of Anarchy episodes go.
But with this being the Sons’ final ride, even Tuesday’s tame (by comparison) hour wasn’t without its share of bloodshed.

Horror comedy Smothered is written and directed by actor turned director John Schneider. Yes, you did read that correctly… Actor John Schneider, who many will know from family-friendly productions and his roles as Bo Duke on Dukes of Hazzard and more recently Jonathan Kent, aka Superman’s dad, on Smallville, has turned his hand to writing and directing in more recent years but who knew he had a penchant for penning horror? Admittedly he has had roles in low-budget monster movies such as Super Shark, Snow Beast and Lake Placid 2 but I had no idea he was such a horror fan – he certainly has to be to create such a love letter to the horror community as Smothered.

We told you about the new horror film from John Schneider (yes, that John Schneider of "Dukes of Hazzard fame) entitled, Smothered, a while ago and now we have the first premiere news for you! Read on!
From the Press Release
Actor and filmmaker John Schneider (Smallville, Dukes of Hazzard) has rounded up some of horror's most famous faces for Smothered, premiering in New Orleans in May.
The highly-anticipated fright-fest, which features the likes of Kane Hodder, Don Shanks, R.A Mihailoff, Bill Mosely, and Brea Grant , boasts the largest number of horror icons ever to grace the screen at the same time.
Smothered, written and directed by Schneider, sees the horror icons playing themselves in a scenario that sees them attending a small, disheartening horror-convention on Friday the 13th. Running out of patience but principally money, the group accept a cash-offer to go and scare-up the local Rv park...

Running out for a quick pick-me-up in North Hollywood, Selena Gomez made a casual appearance at Kabuki on Friday (March 14).
Walking with a smile, the "Love Will Remember" singer sported a cute denim button down, wearing tight black jeans and sky-high heels.
In related news, the lawyer who deposed pop sensation Justin Bieber wanted him to answer questions involving Selena, stating he had authority to ask about her, since she was present during Justin's alleged attack on the paprazzi in 2012.
Justin stormed out of the question session, and the lawyer is reportedly attempting to ascertain whether Selena and Justin are dating, so that he can determine if she will become a biased witness.

When will Hollywood ever learn? Every year they churn out mega-budget spectacle, charting what works and what doesn’t, with a massive portion of the internet dedicated to the industry to see exactly what is failing and why, and yet still only a few actually working in Hollywood even seem to understand what film fans want.
Is it really that hard? Sure, us film fans might often follow as sheep and will venture to your popcorn fests regardless of how many of them have Vin Diesel in, but that does not make you less incorrect about what your audience actually wants. Our inadequacies in resisting the kind of brain-off, snacks-out fare that regularly fills the multiplexes should be taken as no indication that that is all we ever want, and if the Hollywood power players paid a little more attention to what they get right, and a little...

Zombies have become a trope in gaming industry, so much so that the vast majority of creatively deficient games use zombies as antagonists to cover the lack of a proper story. State of Decay, like a plethora of others, is a zombie survival game. It claims to provide a unique survival experience, but does it manage to separate itself from the hordes of competition?
State of Decay is a third person action survival game where resource management is key as the world organically evolves (or crumbles) around you. You begin the game as Marcus Campbell, who is camping with his friend when the outbreak begins. Marcus quickly becomes quite proficient at smashing zombies and finds a group of survivors to join. Once you get settled in with the survivors, the narrative begins to wander. You can jump between multiple characters, and once you befriend more survivors you can take control of them as well.

With Halloween in the air, we thought it would be fun to reach out to the horror genre's biggest and brightest stars - both legends in the industry and up-and-coming superstars - to ask them two quick questions: What's your biggest fear, and what's your favorite scary movie? Read on for the results!
Some of the results will make you laugh. Some will make you shiver... and some, well some are just too funny for words. Sit back and get ready to hear from the likes of Anne Rice, John Carpenter, Robert Englund, the "Ghost Adventures" crew, cast members from "The Walking Dead," George A. Romero, and many - Many - more. Who knows? You may even find some new movies you should check out or at least revisit.
Let the scares begin!

As fans of Boardwalk Empire, we are often made to feel for characters despite their criminal and violent behavior. It is a testament to actors like Stephen Graham, who from scene to scene are able to go from pathological to paternal. They both entertain and endear us to their charges.
In the opening moments of "William Wilson" we saw Al Capone walk up and murder a Chicago Policeman in broad daylight. The next time we saw Al, he was hustling around to make Torrio comfortable. Instead of despising Al, we were moved by the pain in his voice, as he recounted to his boss how his brother had been killed.
You could feel the fire that burned inside his heart, which seemingly no amount of spilled blood could extinguish, but you wanted to at least see Torrio give Al the okay to try.

The Manic Street Preachers have so far spent twenty one years creating brilliant and important records. Unlike most bands that break into their third decade they have flourished rather than becoming stale. This time around the Manics have taken a breath and ‘Rewind The Film’ is a record that for a moment pauses and looks back nostalgically on youth in small welsh towns and the happiness and contentment that could be gleaned from simpler times. The anger of youth is still burning in everything the Manics produce but this time it is seen from a new perspective. Getting old is lamented but the blunt and defiant lyrics remain.
Clearly the brilliance of Ian McCulloch’s appearance on ‘Some Kind of Nothingness’ encouraged the band to feature more guest vocalists and this time around there are three who each have been expertly paired with their tracks. ‘This...

Grand Theft Auto V, developed by Rockstar Games (a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.), was released for Xbox and PlayStation gaming systems on September 17th, 2013. Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. State of Decay (2013)
Developer: Undead Labs
Publisher: Microsoft Studios
State of Decay has enjoyed major success since it’s June 5th release this year. The game takes the classic zombie survival scenario that has been recycled time and time again, yet somehow brings a fresh and exciting gameplay experience that makes it almost impossible to put down. In a way which is similar to Dead Rising, there are multiple ways in which the story can play out depending on the choices you make and your success in various missions. This can make for a very personalized and unique experience with every new playthrough, but it comes with a few surprises here and there. To help keep you and your fellow survivors safe from the brain hungry hordes, here’s a list of the top 5 potential nightmares that you’ll want to try to avoid:

Running out of the Triskel Arts Centre, Twisted Celluloid has been going from strength to strength for the last 18 months, offering the people of Cork a monthly program showcasing the best cult and horror movies cinema has to offer, made that more atmospheric by being shown in a renovated church. Such is the popularity of these events, the first ever Twisted Celluloid Film Festival is being held this weekend, from the 21st to the 24th. The festival kicks off with the Irish premiere of Maniac, featuring a much lauded turn from Elijah Wood as a psychotic serial killer. Other movies of note include Irish horror Citadel, which is coming off an incredible amount of praise from the American Festival circuit, director Barry Levinson's (Rain Man, Sleepers) foray into found footage with ecological horror The Bay, and the ambitious anthology The ABC's Of Death, featuring 26 short movies, from some of...

Los Angeles — Academy Awards producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have run out of rehearsal space. Dressing rooms, too.
The award-winning production duo is planning the most performance-filled Oscar show ever. They promise a "wow moment" in each of its 13 acts, so the show demands a more dynamic stage and more dressing rooms and rehearsal time than previous Oscar productions.
"I don't think any Oscars have been as performance-based," Meron said.
It's no surprise, given the pair's hit-filled history: They produced 2003's best picture, "Chicago," and count TV's "Smash" and the recent Broadway revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" among their credits.
Running out of space for their Oscar production's A-list roster of performers – including Barbra Streisand, Adele and Norah Jones – is what Zadan calls a "great problem."
"When you do an Oscar show, you don't have a dressing room problem. The presenters don't get dressing rooms.

Rockstar Games has just announced that Grand Theft Auto V has been pushed back from its original “Spring 2013″ release window, and will now launch worldwide for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17, 2013.
Take-Two noted in the press release that the decision to push GTA V off its original release schedule was made in order to allow for additional development time. The publisher did not comment on exactly what the extra time would be used for, however, they did note that Grand Theft Auto V will have the “biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world [that] Rockstar Games has yet created”.
If GTA V truly is larger in scope than Rockstar Games’ prior open world titles (which includes some fairly decent sized games like Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption), it is certainly understandable if the development team needs a few extra months to get things wrapped up. Revisiting Lynch – Part Three: American Surrealism Goes Mainstream with Twin Peaks and Wild At Heart
Perhaps the thing that David Lynch is best known for in the mainstream is the television series Twin Peaks which ran from summer 1990 until spring 1991. When it debuted the series was huge, I mean huge. It infected all areas of popular culture and was like the Lost of its day with people hotly debating Who Killed Laura Palmer? The same way they debated the significance of the numbers in Lost. Twin Peaks changed prime time television forever; it pushed the limits of what you could show in terms of sex and violence and also changed the way that stories are told in ongoing arcs and plotlines that would last for many episodes. Without its initial success it’s doubtful we would have later got The X-Files and shows like Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel which ran with the serial format rather than the more common story of the week.

Before we jump into the show tonight, faithful readers and "Bachelor Pad" fans, we must draw your attention to this interview we did with Chris last week in case you missed it. His lack of self-awareness is staggering. Not only does he think his stringing along of multiple women "part of the game" (it's not), but he thought Jamie would give him a hug before she let last week. A Hug, you guys. He's lucky he didn't get punched in the throat.
Blakeley sums it up nicely in the opening few frames when she calls him "the s*** on the bottom of my shoe." But then Stagliano hilariously one-ups her with, "Chris is taking up all the a**hole space in the house."
