"Help with the ball and I'll get you out of here." Madman Films from Australia has just revealed the main international trailer for a French dramatic thriller titled Party of Fools, which is the updated English title for this film originally known as Captives in French. It premiered last year and already opened in France in January, but has no US date yet - expected sometime later in the year. Based on a true story taking place in Paris in 1894, at the Salpêtrière Hospital, one year after the death of Prof. Jean-Martin Charcot. A young woman named Fanni voluntarily allowed herself to be locked up in the Salpêtrière hospital in order to look for her mother. A ball is being prepared there... Searching among the multitude of so-called "madwomen", she discovers a community of modern heroines who defy all of her expectations, along with the unexpected friendship of fellow patients.

Our friends over at Terror Vision announced four brand new upcoming releases this week, including Screambox movies Welcome to Hell and Cube, as well as 1988 film Captives.
The fourth movie announced by Terror Vision this week? The 1981 Indonesian horror movie Srigala, a slasher that was heavily inspired by the original Friday the 13th!
As Paul Le wrote here on Bd earlier this year, “The 1981 Indonesian movie Srigala is by no means known by the masses, but those in the loop about vintage and obscure Southeast Asian horror are aware of its existence for one reason. The director of the original Satan’s Slaves, once a steady provider of Indonesia’s homegrown horrors, joined the legion of eager filmmakers who set out to make their own slasher after watching the first Friday the 13th.”

“Vive le cinéma!” goes the call from Tabakalera, International Centre of Contemporary Culture, at this year’s San Sebastián International Film Festival (Ssiff).
The Centre’s exhibition hall plays host to four cinematographic installations made by leading global filmmakers, a project which sees them transform their usual cinema-based practice into a more expansive and experimental gallery space.
The exhibition at Tabakalera marks a continuation of the series which began at the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam last year in collaboration with the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Two works from the 2021 exhibition by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese and Jia Zhang-ke will be on display again in San Sebastián, alongside two new productions from Georgian filmmaker Dea Kulumbegashvili (“Beginning”) and Spanish director Isaki Lacuesta.
“Our main mission is to promote artistic production and to act as a platform to connect a wide audience to the arts of our time,” says Tabakalera’s Cultural Director Clara Montero.

If you missed last week's episode of Persons Unknown, read the recap here.
"Saved" opens with the town trashed and the winds a-blowin'. The images are blurry, as Joe walks out into the square. He sees Tom, and, as Tom is dead, Joe asks his old friend if he is dreaming, or worse, if they are both dead. Tom assures Joe that he is not dead; rather, Joe "has been saved." Joe's reaction is perfectly summed up by his reaction: a loud, long, bellowing "Noooooooooo!!!!!" Joe wakes up strapped to a surgery table with a shaved head, and a melange of wires, tubes and sensors attached to his body. A disembodied female voice says over a speaker that things have gotten off track with Joe. They need to "fix" him, and unfortunately, it's going to hurt. In the hotel, Janet tears apart Joe's room, searching for any clue that will lead to his whereabouts.
