There is a spin-off in the works for TNT's sophomore series, The Librarians, but it's not coming to a TV near you. Aptly enough, you will be more likely to find it on a shelf in your local library. Tor/Forge announces Greg Cox will write the TV tie-in novel, The Librarians and the Lost Lamp, for Tor Books.
The Librarians are a secret organization, which protects the world from magic. The series stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Titan books sent along the official novelization of Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla by Greg Cox. The movie was released on May 16, 2014 and this book is available now.
This summer saw the epic rebirth of Toho’s iconic Godzilla; this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. This companion book offers little difference from the exceptional film, although I will say it makes some characters more important. It’s still an exciting read but if you have seen the movie or plan on it (you should) then this might just be for people who really like to read over going to the crowded theater.
Novelizations are usually paint-by-the-numbers reads that don’t deliver the same level of entertainment than its awe-inspiring production counterpart. It was the same with Man of Steel and now Godzilla.

It’s fair to say that Godzilla has been a success on the big screen, especially based on the fact it already has two sequels confirmed. It’s all about the spectacle of seeing the huge monster do battle, to hear his roar as he announces his arrival, and the destruction of everything around him. How though would this translate into a book? I got to find out when I read Godzilla: The Official Movie Novelisation by Greg Cox.
When a creature known as Muto is released on the world the human race find themselves outmatched by the unnatural beast. When signs are discovered showing another beast, Godzilla, long though dead has returned, they find he may be the answer to all their problems, though also one of the biggest destructive forces alive.

The early reviews have been almost unanimous in their praise for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla and expectation for the film is extremely high.
With Edwards’ maintaining his assured approach to building up tension (his debut film, Monsters, is a perfect companion piece) we are getting a very different monster movie than Roland Emmerich’s 1998 incarnation, and the creative team have gone to great lengths to ensure this is a unique interpretation of the legendary movie icon.
And here’s a world exclusive for you – it’s the first chapter from Greg Cox’s official movie novelization out on the 16th of May from Titan Books.
As you’ll see it delves into the deepest mystery of the monster’s existence and goes right back to the very first sighting, providing the perfect set up to the movie.

Titan Books sent us a copy of Man of Steel, here is our review.
It’s rare for me to see a novelization in stores, I know they exist; what’s even more rare is for me to want to read them. They are basically a paperback rewrite of the shooting script. Man of Steel is a quick and easy read and if you have seen the movie like me, you will find it all too familiar. For those who haven’t see the film or don’t want to but feel like reading it, you won’t be disappointed either.
The novel expands upon and even clarifies what happened in the movie. You understand much more of Lois’s inner thoughts about Clark, as well as Clark’s torment at the end of his battle with Zod. It adds scenes that aren’t in the movie, and explains anything...

IGN has gotten their hands on the novelization of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, written by Greg Cox and published by Titan Books. The brief excerpt they've published covers the opening cinematics of Krypton's doom and the struggle between Jor-El (Russell Crowe), Zod (Michael Shannon) and the High Council. Also, it's revealed that Faora (Antje Traue) was known as the 'Tigress of Zod'...how Krypton knows about tigers is anyone's guess. ...The terrorist leader, whom he had once considered a friend, was accompanied by his top lieutenants. Jor-El knew them, as well—if only by reputation. Lithe and pitiless, Faora-Ul was known and feared throughout Krypton as the “Tigress of Zod.” She stalked beside her general, wearing a predatory smile on her face. Cropped black hair matched her dark uniform and cape. Although attractive in her own fierce way, she struck Jor-El as being as vicious and violent as Lara was warm and gentle.

Chicago – I’m old enough dear readers to remember when books were more interesting tie-ins for feature films than websites and video games. When we fell in love with a movie, we had action figures, Happy Meal toys, and, believe it or not, books. There was a time when collecting everything related to your favorite flick meant a novel adaptation and one of the absolute best, the graphic novel edition known as “Alien: The Illustrated Story” has just been reissued to show readers why this is an art form they should miss.

Christopher Nolan has made it clear that he is finished with the Dark Knight and has no plans for any further films - including Warner Bros' Justice League movie whose line-up is set to include the caped crusader.
He's aware, though, that there are bound to be more Batman movies in the future and says the character has "thrived on reinterpretation."
The events of Nolan's epic finale The Dark Knight Rises have led to much speculation on what might come next - and whether we could see a sequel. Such is the acclaim and impact of the trilogy that many fans are clinging to possibilities, not wanting it to be all over.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose role as cop John Blake was pivotal in The Dark Knight Rises, told The Hollywood Reporter he has "no idea" on the status of the franchise but seemed open to possibilities, saying: "I always choose scripts the same way.

Movie novelizations are never what you would call brilliantly written, but then they never aspire to be. They exist simply to transfer the screenplay into book form, and maybe -- if we are lucky -- provide a bit more insight intro the story and characters. In that respect author Greg Cox has done a pretty good job. The basic story is practically identical to the movie of course, as is the majority of the dialogue. But there is a lot more of what you might call "fan service" here. As we already knew, The Joker's whereabouts during the events of the movie are revealed (turns out he is Arkham's last prisoner..or, he's escaped) but the most famous of Batman's villains is brought up numerous times throughout the course of the novel, as several different characters -- Batman, Alfred, Gordon etc -- think back to his reign of terror over Gotham,...

Despite some early rumors, director Christopher Nolan had always made it clear that the Joker would never be mentioned in The Dark Knight Rises so as to not account for the real-life tragedy of Heath Ledger. It was a respectable decision, but one that left the fate of the Joker to the viewer’s imagination.
While many fans came up with their own theories on what happened to Gotham’s infamous villain, the recently released novelization ofThe Dark Knight Rises attempted to provide a definite answer to the question.

I don’t read movie novelizations, period. At least that was my mindset a few days ago. I am not alone when I say, last weekend I went to my local cinema and witnessed one of the most epic motion pictures in recent memory. The Dark Knight Rises lived up to the hype at the box office, and for more information about the movie itself be sure to check out Graham’s review. The cynic in me knows that movie studios will license their rights to anything to make a quick buck, so why not a novelization right?
While The Dark Knight Rises novel is by no means a replacement for the movie, it is a fantastic companion. When sitting in a theater for close to three hours it is easy to miss key pieces of dialogue. For those familiar, this holds especially true in a Christopher Nolan directed film.

While making "The Dark Knight Rises," Christopher Nolan stated that out of respect for Heath Ledger, he will not mention the Joker in the movie. While that's understandable, leaving the Joker out confused many fans who expected to find out what happened to the villain. Spoilers Ahead: There were rumors that if Ledger didn't die, he would have played a big part in "The Dark Knight Rises," which likely would have been a completely different movie. We never got that movie, but also didn't get an explanation why criminals like the Scarecrow escaped from prison, but not the Joker. To get some answers, here is an excerpt from Greg Cox's novelization of the film, which hints at where the Joker was during the events of "The Dark Knight Rises": Now that the Dent Act had made it all but impossible for the city's criminals to cop an insanity plea,...

While there were rumours that Heath Ledger's Joker would make a cameo (perhaps using unused footage from The Dark Knight) in The Dark Knight Rises, it accounted to nothing more than talk and Christopher Nolan said on numerous occasions before the release of the film that he wouldn't even mention the villain as a sign of respect to the actor. Nuke The Fridge have posted the following excerpt from Greg Cox's novelization of the film, perhaps shedding some insight into why the villain wasn't one of those who was seen escaping from Blackgate. Now that the Dent Act had made it all but impossible for the city’s criminals to cop an insanity plea, it (Blackgate Prison) had replaced Arkham Asylum as a preferred location for imprisoning both convicted and suspected felons. The worst of the worst were sent here, except for the Joker, who, rumor had it,...

"The Dark Knight Rises" is going to get an official novel, just don't expect it to spoil you before the movie comes out.
Titan Books announced via press release that they'll be releasing the book on July 20, the same day "The Dark Knight Rises" hits theaters. The novel will be written by Greg Cox, who is best known for writing official novelizations for comic book storylines like "Infinite Crisis" and "Countdown."
Even though "The Dark Knight Rises" is based on the "Batman" comics, there are plenty of reasons we're excited to get our hands on this book. Christopher Nolan is a director known for his subtlety, and we can't resist geeking out over every bit of detail about a project we can get.
Hopefully Cox will work closely with Nolan so he can make sure that all his additional insights into Batman, Bane and the rest of the characters align...

Now that "Transformers 3" filming has wrapped, there's going to be a period of suspense while everyone waits to see what Michael Bay plans to unleash. Gail Simone has a very simple request for him, and I hope you agree with her.
"Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," meanwhile, has long since been released to theaters, and it's now out on DVD and Blu-ray, though you may have problems finding it in stock. Jhonen Vasquez shared how he overcame that obstacle yesterday. Elsewhere, there's no "Questionable Content" TV series currently in development that I know of, but whether he's serious or not, I wholeheartedly endorse Jeph Jacques' dream team of casting picks. Check those out below along with an out-of-the-blue recommendation for the "Final Crisis" novelization.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for November 12, 2010.
@GailSimone I don't want to tell Michael Bay how to do his job or anything,...

Wandering through bookstores with my parents as a child, I only ever picked up two things: Goosebumps and movie novelizations. And while nary a day goes by that doesn't find me devoting an hour or two to debating the literary merits of the illustrious R.L. Stine, my adult life has been largely movie novelization (and tie-in) free. Until recently, that is, when I got around to reading Greg Cox's Terminator Salvation tie-in novel Cold War.
His storyline, which expands the Terminator canon (as modified by Salvation) by alternating between the story of a Russian submarine captain who gave the command to launch the nukes on judgment day and a John Connor idolizing member of the resistance in 2018, was pretty much on par with my memory of novelizations from my childhood, until I got to a section that featured an early Terminator model fighting a bear, which I think we...
