After scribe Max Landis left the project Fox were busy seeking out a suitable writer for their super powered found footage follow-up 'Chronicle 2'. And that time has now come - enter Jack Stanley. Writer Stanley has been bought in to replace Landis and will script the sequel to the Josh Trank directed original which was released back in 2012. The modestly budgeted original managed to score some big box office numbers whilst still impressing audiences and critics alike so the studio is keen to further the franchise as soon as possible. 'Chronicle' starred Dane DeHaan ('The Amazing Spider-Man 2'), Alex Russell ('Carrie') and Michael B. Jordan. No director has been locked in just yet but Trank certainly won't be returning as he'll be too busy with his reboot of 'The Fantastic Four'....

Film: "Carrie"; Cast: Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort, Julianne Moore, and Barry Shabaka Henley; Director: Kimberley Peirce; Rating: ***
"Carrie" is a mother-daughter bonding film. It is packed with unusual expressive intensity and effective heart-breaking character arcs.
Director Kimberley Peirce's "Carrie" hooks you from the first frame itself with the cries of a heavily pregnant Margret fervently praying to her almighty to protect her in the hour of her need, followed by the safe unaided delivery of her child. But then the use of the unsterilised scissors purported to cut the umbilical cord offers a tinge of classic horror that ignites pathos for the innocent.

New Carrie 2013 movie served up major drama, thrills,& more. Screen Gems (Sony) released their new horror/thriller, remake flick, "Carrie" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was great as it served up a lot of intense drama, thrills, and more. It stars: Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort, and Julianne Moore. In the new flick, character Carrie (Cloe Grace Moretz) is an extremely odd girl that is seen as an outcast by all her castmates at school. This is due in part to her being extremely sheltered by her deeply religious and whacked out mother, played by (Juliane Moore). Carrie eventually gets terrified after having her period at school, and get made fun of by all the girls in the locker room when they realize she didn't know what a period is. From there, the girls get majorly punished for doing it,...

Kimberly Peirce puts new tech bells and whistles on Stephen King's bullied teen horror but she still winds up copying from Brian de Palma's book
Carrie White's terrible prom and its violent conclusion are so indelible in pop culture they no longer count as spoilers; the latest take on the story has her bloodstained dress and crazed eyes right there on the poster.
But instead of taking pleasure in toying with and subverting a pop culture icon, Kimberly Peirce's new adaptation of Carrie is surprisingly slavish to Brian De Palma's 1976 take. Touches of wit and insight enliven the first half, but Carrie eventually devolves into lackluster modern horror cliches for a souped-up version of the famous finale.
As the sheltered and abused Carrie, Chloe Grace Moretz is an enormous and sometimes welcome change from Sissy Spacek, though she's cringingly unbelievable in the key early scene...

Kimberly Peirce's new adaptation of "Carrie" is updated for the social media savvy Generation Z, but it's not exactly a revolutionary take on Stephen King's source material. If anything, it's even slightly more faithful to the book than Brian De Palma's classic (and still definitive) 1976 version, although with a decidedly more feminist lens. Starring Chloe Moretz as the titular misfit with telekinetic abilities; Julianne Moore as her devout and abusive mother; and Judy Greer as the sympathetic gym teacher Ms. Desjardin, "Carrie" is a bloody, upsetting horror film that at the very least will make older teens think twice about bullying a classmate.
The horror movie is rated R for "bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexual content," but in case you're on the fence about whether your teen is ready for it, here are 10 of the most shocking moments.
Spoilers Ahead

With its Halloween-ready release date quickly approaching, Screen Gems’ update of the Brian de Palma classic Carrie has been busy setting the internet ablaze with lots of new clips and photos, most highlighting the performances of teen star Chloe Moretz, as the titular telekinetic teen, and Julianne Moore, as her wacked-out fundamentalist mother.

While Wednesday's Carrie clip had Julianne Moore's Margaret White sending her on-screen daughter, Chloë Grace Moretz's Carrie White, into a closet as punishment, a new clip has been brought online today at IGN that reverses the balance of power. Check it out in the player below! Also starring Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde and Ansel Elgort, Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce ( Stop-Loss , Boys Don't Cry ). Hitting theaters on October 18, the film is a reimagining of the classic horror tale about a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

We have new images in from the Carrie remake, and also a poster is very similar to the first poster we added for the Screen Gems horror remake which opens November 8th. Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass films, Let Me In) and Julianne Moore star where Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie starred in the original 1976 film. This really does look like an eerie film, judging from the trailer. Also on board the cast are Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Gabrielle Wilde, Alex Russell, Michelle Nolden, Max Toppline and Cynthia Preston. Carrie is based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, and helmed by Kimberly Peirce from the script by Lawrence D. Cohen and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Carrie has released a new clip.
The video shows Kimberly Peirce's take on the scene from the horror classic.
It shows Carrie (Chloë Moretz) locked in the closet by her mother (Julianne Moore).
The film centres around the tale of a tortured young woman who develops telekinesis.
Brian De Palma famously adapted Stephen King's debut novel into a film in 1976. Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie starred in the early movie adaption.
Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday and Alex Russell will also feature in Peirce's remake.
Moretz previously said that film's delay from its originally planned March release was to add content that would make the movie "scarier and more intense".
Carrie will open in Us cinemas on October 18 and November 29 in the UK.
