London, Dec 31 (Ians) Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has been knighted, having been included in the United Kingdom's traditional honours list. Hamilton this year equalled Michael Schumacher's record for most driver's championship wins and surpassed the German great for most career race wins in F1.
Hamilton at the age of 35 is the fourth youngest sportsperson to be knighted after former tennis world no.1 Andy Murray, who was 29 when he received the honour, and cyclists Bradley Wiggins and Chris Hoy, who were both 32 years old.
He is also the fourth F1 driver to receive the honour after Jack Brabham (1978), Stirling Moss (2000) and Jackie Stewart (2001) and the sixth from the sport with F1 team Williams co-founders Frank Williams and Patrick Head being knighted in 1999 and 2015 respectively.
Hamilton is, however, the first from the sport to receive the knighthood while still being an active F1 driver.

Comcast-owned pay TV operator Sky has underlined its commitment to diversity, with U.K. content boss Zai Bennett expanding on the £30 million ($39 million) earmarked over the next three years for diversity training and improving Black and minority ethnic representation at all levels.
Sky has targets in place to measure progression of under-represented groups throughout the organization. “For me, the construct of the targets is really important,” said Bennett, speaking as part of the Edinburgh TV Festival on Monday. “I find them a really helpful way of driving what we’re doing. However, I don’t think we’ve done as well as we possibly can; we will always be open and report about the targets, so that we do that much more.”

'Lord Montagu' documentary. 'Lord Montagu' documentary: Anti-gay persecution victim became successful entrepreneur and National Motor Museum founder On first blush, the life of a Lord of the Realm, a Peer to the English monarchy, a child born with an actual silver spoon in his mouth and an ancient estate to inherit, would seem wholly irrelevant to a commoner such as myself – and an American, no less. Yet the life of the man once known as Little Lord Montagu, as captured in director Luke Korem's titular documentary, Lord Montagu, is one that fascinates both for its storied historical context and for the way the Little Lord lived it. Which required a good deal of bravery, ingenuity, and affection for the “common people” and the things we love. At this writing, Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu, is 88 years old. The film about his Lordship begins when he is only two years old,...

Anthony Horowitz has been hired to write the next James Bond novel.
Ian Fleming's estate has invited the Alex Rider author to pen the next instalment, which is currently titled Project One.
The book will be set in the 1950s, and will contain previously unseen Fleming material from an unmade James Bond TV series.
Fleming's original episode treatment - titled 'Murder on Wheels' - saw the secret agent enter the world of motor racing.
The treatment will be used as a starting point for the new novel, which will be published on September 8, 2015.
"When the estate approached me to write a new James Bond novel, how could I possibly refuse?" said Horowitz.
"It's a huge challenge... but having original, unpublished material by Fleming has been an inspiration."
Fleming's great-niece Jessie Grimond said: "In the 1950s, Ian Fleming wrote several episode treatments for a James Bond television series.

Directors: Frank Simon, Roman Polanski; Starring: Jackie Stewart, Roman Polanski, Helen Stewart; Running time: 93 mins; Certificate: PG
Sir Jackie Stewart's son Mark described Roman Polanski's long-forgotten documentary Weekend of a Champion as a "time capsule" during a special screening at the London Film Festival, and for anyone fascinated by the history of motorsport, he's right. Made in between Rosemary's Baby and Chinatown, Polanski and his fellow filmmakers were granted unparalleled access to film Stewart at the 1971 Monaco grand prix, one of motor racing's classic events.
Nobody would be able to make this kind of documentary at a grand prix in today's age of watertight commercial rights, and for that reason alone it's worth watching.
Polanski follows Stewart around almost constantly for the duration of the weekend, exploring the Monte Carlo street circuit with him in a road car. His film crew has access to Stewart's Tyrrell racing car...

News and portrait photographer with an eye for the unexpected and the authentic
Michael Ward, who has died after a long illness, aged 82, was a news photographer for almost 40 years and once calculated that his archive of prints and negatives covered 5,500 assignments, mainly though not exclusively for the Sunday Times. And yet he came late to his career and never felt confident that he completely understood it. Towards the end of his life, after half a century with a camera, he wrote that he knew "as much or as little about the processes of photography as a decent amateur". Technically, he knew he was far from accomplished. Aesthetically, he was never sure what separated a good picture from an indifferent one.
He had several exhibitions – the venues included the National theatre and the National Portrait Gallery – but he always remained suspicious about photography's claim as art. Nevertheless, many of his pictures are sympathetic and memorable.

Peter Yates, who has worked as a director in Hollywood since the early sixties, has passed away at age 82, Deadline reports. Yates is best known for the 1968 Steve McQueen film Bullitt , but frequently crossed genres with a lengthy list of credits that includes The Friends of Eddie Coyle , The Deep , Breaking Away , The Dresser and Krull , among many others. Beginning his career as a stage actor, Yates also spent his early career working with automobiles as both a racecar driver and a manager for Sir Stirling Moss, no doubt paving the way for the famous car chase scene in Bullitt . Married to his Producer, Virginia Pope, Yates had three children, one of whom, Toby Yates, currently works in the film industry as an editor.

UK born director Peter Yates — perhaps best known for helming Steve McQueen's iconic 1968 crime drama Bullitt, has passed away at the age of 82, reports Deadline.
Yates, who began his career as a stage actor, was also known for films such as The Friends of Eddie Coyle, The Deep, Breaking Away, The Dresser and Krull, among many others.
But it was with Bullitt that the director — who spent his early career working with automobiles as both a race car driver and a manager for Sir Stirling Moss — is perhaps best remembered. Yates' experience with automobiles made it possible for him to sit down with Steve McQueen — also an automobile racer and enthusiast — and carefully choreograph the now-famous chase sequence through the streets of San Francisco, in what is arguably (sorry Ronin fans) the greatest and most influential car chase of all time.
