The CW has announced a flurry of renewals.
Three of the network’s freshman shows, “All American,” “Roswell, New Mexico” and “In The Dark,” will return for second seasons, as well as “The 100,” which gets a seventh outing. This means that all five of The CW’s first-year shows, including the previously-renewed “Legacies” and “Charmed,” have been picked up for a sophomore run, a first for the network.
The sixth season of “The 100” is set to premiere on April 30, and will see the characters descending to a new planet after being frozen in stasis pods on a spaceship for decades, after escaping an uninhabitable Earth.
“The 100,” originally inspired by the young adult novels by Kass Morgan, is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. A remake doesn’t necessarily have to justify its existence in this, the age of too much #content, but it’s always a genuine pleasure when it nonetheless makes a great case.
“Roswell, New Mexico” is a canny blend of the two ways that its story — of aliens living on Earth and the humans who may or may not love them — has already been told. The WB’s “Roswell” was an unabashed teen soap that wrung every longing glance out of its high school protagonists. It starred a young Shiri Appleby as human heroine Liz, and while Appleby was promising from the start, the book series “Roswell” was based on (“Roswell High”) had purposefully made Liz Latina. As writers Liz Burns and Melissa Metz said on Twitter last summer, situating the books in New Mexico meant that “the characters were living in a place with a diverse population, one that...

The CW has given series orders to five dramas for the 2018-19 season, including reboots of “Charmed” and “Roswell, New Mexico.”
Also earning pickups are “In the Dark,” “All American,” and “Legacies.”
CW’s new roster for the coming season is once again heavy on fantasy and supernatural themes. “All American” is a departure in telling the culture-clash story of a high school football player from South Los Angeles who is recruited to play for a school in Beverly Hills. “Seven Seconds” will not be getting a second season at Netflix.
Starring Regina King, Clare-Hope Ashitey with Russell Hornsby, Beau Knapp, Michael Mosley and David Lyons, the drama followed people involved in an investigation of the death of a young black boy, as well as the boy’s family. The ten-episode season debuted on the streaming service February 23.
“We loved working with Veena Sud, Regina King and the cast and crew of ‘Seven Seconds.’ Together they created a compelling, timely and relevant crime drama. The first season is a complete, stand-alone story that we are proud to feature on Netflix for years to come,” said Netflix VP of Originals Cindy Holland in a statement provided to TheWrap.
Though the show won’t be returning to the streaming service, Netflix isn’t abandoning it. An individual with knowledge tells TheWrap that the streaming service will likely submit the show for limited series Emmys consideration.
“Seven Seconds” was created by “The Killing” alum Veena Sud, who also served as executive producer alongside Gavin O’Connor, Lawrence Bender, Kevin Kelly Brown, Alex Reznik and Dan Nowak.

A few months ago it was announced that The CW was developing a reboot of the sci-fi series Roswell. Well, the reboot is moving from development to production as the network has officially ordered a pilot episode. Like the original series, this reboot would be adapted from the series of Roswell High books by Melinda Metz.
The series is being written and executive produced by The Originals scribe Carina Adly MacKenzie. The series is also being produced by Kevin Kelly Brown, who was an executive producer on the original series. He is the one person involved that connects the two Roswell incarnations. Everyone else involved is new. Here are the details that have been revealed and it's a little different than the original series:

It looks like the reboots are not going to be dying out anytime soon.
Remember the Roswell reboot that was eyed at The CW just a few months ago?
Well, it just got one step closer to becoming a reality. According to Deadline, the young-skewing network has ordered a pilot.
The official logline reads, "After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life."
"She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance."

The CW is moving forward with its in-the-works Roswell reboot, placing a pilot order for a new one-hour series set in the infamous UFO town. The pickup comes just days after the network commissioned a pilot for an update of another WB classic, Charmed.
All told, The CW ordered six new pilots on Wednesday. In addition to Roswell 2.0 — which is being penned by Originals scribe Carina Adly MacKenzie — the network gave the green light to an adaptation of the novel Skinny Dip, the mortuary-esque dramedy Playing Dead, and the alien thriller The End of the World as We Know It.

There is recent news that The CW is looking into rebooting Roswell, which was a sci-fi TV show that ran for two seasons on its predecessor The WB and then one season on Upn. Not much information has been released about the reboot, which is understandable because it is still in the earlier stages of development. However, people might be interested to learn that a number of people have been named as executive producers for the reboot. In particular, Kevin Kelly Brown is interesting because he served as an executive producer on the first Roswell as well. What Was Roswell?

The Roswell TV reboot is pressing ahead...
Roswell, the science fiction teen drama about aliens living in the famous New Mexico town, was one of the best shows of The WB's run. With showrunners like Friday Night Lights' Jason Katims and Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, and cast members like Katherine Heigl, Colin Hanks, Emilie de Ravin, Nick Wechler, and Shiri Appleby amongst its numbers, it transcended its teen drama roots to become something greater.
Fifteen years later, The CW is looking to bring Roswell back. According to Deadline, the network is looking to "reimagine" the series based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz, with The Originals writer Carina Adly MacKenzie writing and executive producing.
The Roswell reboot has now taken an important step forward by casting its lead character.

Starz just premiered pirate drama "Black Sails," its Leonardo de Vinci-as-action-hero series "Da Vinci's Demons" is returning for a second season in March and it has the 50 Cent-produced nightclub saga "Power" set for later this year. Starz announced this morning that it has given a series order to "Flesh and Bone," a gritty drama set in the world of ballet created by Moira Walley-Beckett. Exclusive: Producers Lawrence Bender (Inglorious Basterds) and Kevin Brown (Roswell) have signed a development deal with Universal Cable Prods. for their Bender Brown banner. Under the pact, the duo will shepherd projects for cable as well as broadcast for Ucp, which has evolved from a production arm of USA Network and SyFy to a studio that supplies all cable and broadcast nets. For the past few years Bender Brown had been independent after a stint at Warner Bros. TV where the company produced CBS drama Dr. Vegas among other projects. It has done pilots for TNT, the CW and Lifetime and enjoyed its independence but “having a single studio partner is very exciting,” Brown said. “We have done everything from fantastical drama to multi-camera comedy, so the idea that there is a one studio like Ucp that does all kinds of programming and sells all over town was very appealing”. Added Bender,...

I feel like I'm probably the wrong person to write this article because I'm not a big Trent Reznor fan and, therefore, don't know a whole lot about this Year Zero miniseries he now has set up at HBO. If you are familiar with the Year Zero album and Alternate Reality Game (Arg) it spawned, then you're more up-to-speed than I am.
The La Times "Hero Complex" reports that Trent Reznor is now in the development phase of the "grim, sci-fi" miniseries Year Zero with HBO and BBC Worldwide Productions.
Reznor has partnered with Tarantino producer Laurence Bender and "Roswell" executive producer Kevin Kelly Brown to bring the long gestating project to fruition. "Carnivale" creator Daniel Knauf is busy revising the show bible in preparation of the show fully swinging into production.
So what is Year Zero about? According to the article, "Year Zero began (as so many things do...

- In yet another Hollywood glorification of real-life events, helmer Brian De Palma - the go-to guy these days for such flicks - steps up to direct a reinterpretation of the classic 1968 film The Boston Stranglers. But while the 1968 film starred Tony Curtis and was based on a book by Gerold Frank, De Palma plans to explore a recent nonfiction work by Susan Kelly; "The Boston Stranglers: The Public Conviction of Albert DeSalvo and the True Story of Eleven Shocking Murders". Kelly's book, though out of print, draws a wry portrayal of the events between 1962 and DeSalvo's eventual jailhouse murder in 1973. DeSalvo may have confessed to the crimes, but Kelly (like many in those days) thinks he really had nothing to do with it. The book was adapted by Alan Rose ("Head of the Class"). If one draws upon De Palma's filmmaking history, you already know that he doesn't

Brian De Palma has long had a thing for the notorious.
The Scarface director has signed on to helm The Boston Stranglers for producer Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures.
The film is adapted by Alan Rosen (Head of the Class) from Susan Kelly's nonfiction book "The Boston Stranglers: The Public Conviction of Albert DeSalvo and the True Story of Eleven Shocking Murders."
The thriller will detail the early-'60s Beantown killings and their controversial resolution.
Hurd will produce, and Kevin Kelly Brown will exec produce.
De Palma similarly plumbed real-life-derived atrocities in Casualties of War, Redacted and The Black Dahlia.
The Strangler case continues to stir debate. Many question whether Albert DeSalvo -- a publicity hound who confessed to the murders and was later stabbed to death while incarcerated on unrelated charges -- was the actual killer.
The murders were the basis of a 1968 movie that starred Tony Curtis as DeSalvo and Henry Fonda as the detective pursuing him. That version was based on an earlier book by Gerold Frank.
