Disappointing and uncomfortable
diegosotorosa11 May 2020
In all genuine honesty, this movie has really made me the most uncomfortable I've ever been. The acting is sincerely unsettling and unprofessional. The plot is the same plot that stereotypically depicts a supposedly heroic identity. You had a penny in your left hand and the chance to forge a gold ingot in your right. You chose the penny... As a director (and I mean no disrespect with this) you should know how a good movie is supposed to look and feel. For example, I'm not sure you took in consideration the audio quality and the static and generic shots and poor cinematography. All of these things did poorly in captivating and keeping my attention at their hands. Once you catch an idea, you should at all costs work to make it an idea no one has ever seen and felt before. This idea you came up with has been used hundreds of times in the movie industry. You could've done a whole lot better, honestly.

Horrible and unwatchable piece of junk. The worst "movie" of the year. Stay away, life is too short for such garbage.

What other people would've done with this budget...
StephenHarker12 May 2020
It takes a lot of expertise and craftsmanship to make a movie, especially a good one. Making a film is not just a job you take because you think it is going to be easy and fun, it is a job that requires passion and creativity. It appears to me after watching The Outrider that the people who made this movie did not have any passion or creativity. I try to not be too harsh on first-time productions but this movie fails on pretty much every level. From a screenplay filled with cliche dialogue and uninteresting characters to pretty bad sound quality, set design and effects. You could argue these last three were due to the budget but there are way better films out there that have been made with this same amount of money or even less. The acting is wooden and dull, the plot is not as interesting as it thinks it is and again, the sound in this movie...what is with the audio quality? Couldn't the production aford boom-mics or maybe have the actors re-dub their lines in post? The music is also pretty standard and generic, it's probably not terrible on its own but it's just so generic and doesn't sound unique enough to keep your attention. There are certain scenes that could've benefited from having a silent moment but instead they play this loud score that really takes you out of a scene instead of ivesting you in it. The worst part is that I honestly thought this movie could be good. Despite the story being extremely generic I can see it being done right if they took it in another direction. In the end The Outrider really disappointed me. Ride as far away from it, as you can.

I also feel the need to point out something else about this movie. To be completely honest I would have given this movie one more star considering it is a first time production but one thing stopped me from doing it: the fake reviews. The fact that whoever made this movie has posted fake reviews on this very website proves that they were not confident enough to let their final product get the reviews it deserves. They are trying to fool people with good reviews about the movie when the movie's quality is far from good. I am really sorry, I would've taken it easier with this movie if it wasn't for the fake reviews.

The Outrider or how not to make a movie.
anonymouswriters11 May 2020
It takes a lot of expertise to make a movie, especially a good one. Making films is not a job you take because you have nothing else to do, to make films you need a passion and a love for cinema. Apparently nobody told that to the director of this movie. The Outrider is a terrible movie, even as a first-time production. It fails on pretty much every level as a movie and it misses the core fundamentals of good entertainment. The acting is like out of a middle school drama class and the direction is boring. The dialogue is cheesy and tries too hard to sound edgy and dark. The characters are flat and generic archetypes that we've seen many times before. They're boring, uninteresting and I couldn't care less about what happened to any of them. The cinematography is pretty much non existent, there are no interesting shots in this movie or shots that enhance the viewing experience whatsoever. However, they are nothing compared to this movie's sound and music. The sound in this movie is probably the worst thing about it, and that's saying a lot. Couldn't the crew afford boom-mics or the actors re-dub their lines in post production? The music in this movie is also terrible. There are so many scenes that could've benefited from a quiet moment but instead they play this loud score that sounds super generic and like we've heard it a million times before. The worst part is that the generic score doesn't even fit the movie's tone at all. Plain and simple, The Outrider is one of the worst films I have ever seen. Ride away from it, as far as you can.

I also feel the need to point out the fact that the makers of this movie have posted plenty of fake reviews talking about this movie in this very website. They declare the movie as good or even great, they are fake reviews and I recommend you do your research before you believe them. To the makers of this movie, please don't post fake reviews, if you can't make a good movie don't make it at all. The fact that you post fake reviwes shows how little you care about the final product.

Just...why?
anonymouswriters11 May 2020
Making a movie is not easy. It should be noted that the process of making a feature film is not as easy as it sounds, let alone making a good film. I always try to take it easy with what seems to be a first-time production because the people who make these type of movies still have a lot to learn. However, this movie...I don't even know what to say. It's bad, it's very bad on various levels, to the point that is ironically enjoyable as a "so bad it's good" movie. The acting is like out of a middle school drama class, the directing is very dull and boring, the editing is terrible and the cinematography is very amateur. The worst part of the movie in my opinion, is the sound. The audio is so bad I couldn't even believe it, did the people who make this couldn't use a boom-mic or at least re-dub the lines in post production? The music is also really over-the top and doesn't fit with the tone the movie was going for. There are scenes that really could've benefitted from having a silent moment but instead they play this really loud score that sounds so very generic and like something we've heard a million times before. After seeing this movie and see its incompetence I really have to ask: Why? Why make this? If you can't do something right, don't do it.

Now I feel like I have to adress something on this very review page, the fake reviews. This review section for The Outrider is filled with fake reviews that rate this movie as good or even great. They are all fake, do not believe them. To the filmmakers of this movie: if you don't have faith in your final product, don't release it and post fake reviews, it really makes it worse.

What did I just watch?!
Boomstickman2114 January 2022
Title explains it all. What did I just watch?! And I was even a part of the cast! Putting this movie together was horrible. The disrespect from the director almost caused me to quit.

Now seeing the final product, the disrespect i experienced was not worth it. I gave it 2 stars because I know the hard work put in this. But the disrespect wasn't worth it and I won't be working with them again.

The movie The Outrider was really good! During the scary parts i looked at my son Cody Largen and said "I see all the horror movies that we watched when you were a kid are really paying off!" Everyone in the film did a great job!

A wild ride to the end!

This is the perfect film example of passion! The perfect example of hard work and determination. These guys who are all still learning their crafts, actually made a feature length film, that is available for all of us to see. Creating art is NOT EASY. But getting on a keyboard and attacking someone who put their blood sweat and tears into something they love, is. Watch this film, and learn their names, cause they are coming back with bigger and better films! Cause the one thing you can't rate is their determination. Great job on your first release! Now go make more.

The Outrider a film you should never visit.
PNWReview7 April 2022
It's not often I feel like I must attack a film or its filmmakers but considering I endured this films runtime of over two hours it feels deserved. This film is awful from front to back.

It's clear these filmmakers have never seen a film noir and the director is no Fritz Lang! It's clear their lack of budget and lighting led them to claim this as a black and white film noir. The filmmakers admitted it themselves!

I understand the film was low budget made for around $1000 but that's not an excuse. Plenty of great films have been made on little to no budget and went on to mint the careers of its director and other filmmakers. This one clearly won't. Writing a compelling story is free! Yet somehow the writer managed to overdraft.

You should not watch this film, talk about this film, share this film, even think about this film. Purge it from your mind and all existence and run away. I understand that there are living breathing people behind this project. I understand that they put all this time and effort into making this film. As such I'm not serving to destroy the time they spent making this. I'm eagerly, desperately, attempting to help them to never waste their time again! Or mine!

Great film infused with haunting messages about humanity!
shanellarose6 January 2020
Phenomenal film with a dynamite cast of indifferent individuals willing to create a project that absolutely left theoretical fireworks in the theatre. For those who enjoy mystery, suspense, thrillers and a plot with a purpose, the outrider is a film you will be sure to enjoy!

Fun experience!
natescashmoney5 January 2020
Went to the 2nd screening, and had an absolute blast. There are several great things to highlight about this indy. Fantastic sound production and score. Complex, yet easy to follow story, keeps you guessing and delivers on surprises. Women, great cleavage, necessities to any Noir. Great special effects for the budget! Have some fun, and watch this film!

Awesome movie
jacobdcooper-355496 January 2020
The plot twists and turns kept the movie interactive with the audience. We awed and laughed on cue. It was truly a unique experience on par with high-budget Hollywood films. The story is very captivating and leaves you wanting more details.
