absolute beauty

This episode was one of the best episodes of the entire show. The dialogue, the unfolding, the tension, etc. So much happened in this episode and it is executed perfectly. I wasn't so sure of the new designs and feel of the show, but this season is beyond promising!

Possibly one of the greatest episodes of television ever

Warning: Spoilers
Following the shocking revelation of who the quiet one is, this episode takes place mostly in the oni temple where Lloyd and harumi attempt to retrieve the mask of hatred.

Lloyd finds out harumi is the quiet one and it creates one of the most tense scenes in Ninjago ever.

Harumis backstory is shocking, it has everything, it ties back to older events, and something from Lloyd's past comes back to haunt him.

Harumi is probably the most well written Ninjago villian (Other than garmadon).

Just when Lloyd thinks he's found someone who finally loves him, he's surprised and shocked and saddened when harumi reveals her true intentions.

Utterly Breathtaking

Warning: Spoilers
This could quite possibly be the most well done and chilling episode in Ninjago's 10+ year history. Following the shocking and unpredictable Quiet One identity twist, all of Harumi's dark and twisted intentions are revealed in the darkest, most tragic, and all around horrific way possible. The build up to the fight between Harumi and Lloyd is beautifully written, and the tension is unbearable. The fight between Lloyd and Harumi is equally thrilling and tragic, and things get even crazier turn when Harumi puts the Mask of Hatred on. The writing and dialogue are phenomenal, quite possibly the best in Ninjago's sixteen season long franchise. We also get spectacular music that would be used frequently throughout the rest of the Ninjago franchise. Plus, we get Harumi's unbearably sad backstory that hits hard every time. 😢

Nothing Short of Incredible

The best episode of Ninjago without competition. Everything about this episode is peak, and deserves all the praise I can give. Everything comes crash down in an epic encounter between Lloyd and the season's "big bad", but not in the way one might expect. Although the reveal of the Quiet One's identity may have been obvious, the execution of that reveal in-universe is mind blowing and expertly done. The backstory given to the villain in the first minute of the episode only adds more fuel to an already enormous fire of emotions, storytelling, and grief all bottled up into 20 minutes of pure perfection. The fight choreography is seriously insane for plastic Lego characters, and the dialogue in the mentioned battle is some of the most well-written work I've ever seen in all of television. What's more, is this episode references some moments from Ninjago all the way back from SEASON 1. The continuity is carefully maintained, and the lore is forever changed by revelations we did not pick up on in the very begins of the show, only to be brought to light in intricacy crafted call-backs 8 seasons in. This is as dark as it gets for a "kid's show". Ninjago already deserves more love, but this masterpiece of an episode is absolute GOLD. It doesn't get much better than this.

Most Overated episode of the entire show

I like Harumi as a character, but I don't like her as a villain. Here's why

As great as Harumi's backstory is, her motivations made no flipping sense. If you think back to the S1 finale, The Ninja distracted the Great Devourer so that Garmadon could get the final blow cause that was the only way to destroy it (the weak spot on his forehead). So Harumi believing that the ninja are to blame for the death of her parents doesn't make a lick of sense. Also, why target Lloyd for THIS! If anything, she should've gone after Pythor since he's the one who released it in the first place. Lloyd was just a child. You can't be mad at someone who was like 8-10 years young at the time.

(I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this), but IMO, Harumi turning evil in Game Of Masks ruined her character. Not only does her motives not make sense, but in eps 1-6 of SOG, I shipped Lloyd + Harumi so hard to the point where I wanted them to end up in a relationship. When they didn't, I was disappointed. I know they wanted to move the plot forward by introducing the Quiet One who's working for the SOG to bring back Garmadon from the Departed Realm. (Which leads to my next point)

This is a very minor nitpick, so I can let it slide, but why wasn't Mr. E the Quiet One? It made perfect sense. But that's more the fault of Dead Man's Squall than GOM.

Stupid Crab scene at the end, which took up the last few mins of the episode

The last point I'm gonna make is that I feel like this is the point where Lloyd's character started to get worse. Idk what it is, but I guess I just feel bad for him. (The next few eps are an extent to this). But before Hunted where Lloyd felt endurance and became a leader again, in the last few eps of S8 Lloyd is quite possibly at his absolute worst in Masters Of Spinjitzu. He's basically depressed, but Harumi bullying him is making him an easy to manipulate person. Which in the case of Crystalized, is bad writing.
