Producers in Southeast Asia are facing a very different, much quieter landscape to the one in front of them just 12 months ago, as U.S. players rein in their spending to appease shareholders, and neighboring countries such as Korea, Japan and India draw attention.
Southeast Asia, which at one point was considered a key growth opportunity for international streamers such as Prime Video and Disney+, has seen money drain out of its main markets. Spending was reeled in and layoffs hit original production staff amid the global streaming reset of last year, and the region has been one of the worst hit as a result.
In fact, Netflix remains the only major American streamer still commissioning across the region — albeit at what several sources say is on a smaller scale in most countries compared to a few years back. (Netflix insiders refute this.) Disney+ and Prime Video have both completely...

Netflix is promising a wild night thanks to the first trailer for “Obliterated,” the latest show from “Cobra Kai” creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald. All eight of the hourlong episodes will be able to stream starting November 30.
Described as a high octane Vegas adventure, “Obliterated” follows an elite special forces team that thwarts a deadly threat to Las Vegas. At least, that’s what they think. As they’re halfway through their celebratory binge, they learn the bomb they disarmed was actually a decoy. Now high and drunk, this team has to find and deactivate the real bomb or else Vegas will blow sky high. Think live-action “Archer” with a Netflix budget.
“Even though I’m half drunk and he is fully drunk and high, we’re the only people on the planet who can keep it from getting blown to hell,” Shelley Hennig as Ava Winters says in the trailer.

Here at Nerdly, we love a game with a lot of table presence. Usually, our preference is for the kind of gothic and horror inspired miniatures you might see in a game like Dark Souls, or perhaps the kind of art you’ll see in Big Book of Madness. Occasionally though, we need a break from the macabre, and what better way to achieve that than by celebrating the unique culture of the Rapa Nui people – famous for building the giant moai heads on what us Western folk call Easter Island. With the usual high standards of other Matagot games, Rapa Nui is the subject of today’s board game review.
Rapa Nui is a re-implementation of a 2008 game called Giants, which took the same theme of building giant heads on Easter Island and offered a very similar experience. Effectively, because both games are from the same designer and publisher...

Considering the hubbub surrounding Jussie Smollett, it’s unlikely he’ll receive a primetime Emmy Award nomination for his past season on “Empire,” but he’s currently nominated for a Daytime Emmy – and, believe it or not, there’s a good chance he can win next month.
Smollett is an executive producer of the web series “Giants,” which is nominated for Best Digital Drama Series. It had the most acting pre-nominations of any digital soap (nine), and when the official nominations were announced, it had 11 overall, which is more than any other digital drama. In fact, it has the fifth most nominations of any program this year, behind only the four televised soaps: “Days of Our Lives” (27), “General Hospital” (25), “The Young and the Restless” (20) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (12).
