Exclusive: Just ahead of the 20th anniversary of Elephant, the Palme d’Or-winning Gus Van Sant pic that marked his breakout role, actor Alex Frost has signed with Brave Artists Management for representation. He’ll be repped by Luna Wise, who came over to Bam at the start of the year.
In Van Sant’s critically acclaimed psychological thriller released in October 2003, Frost portrayed teenage pianist and sketch artist Alex, who with his friend Eric (Eric Deulen), moves to orchestrate a school shooting. He’s otherwise perhaps best known for starring alongside Owen Wilson, Josh Peck and more in the Steven Brill-helmed coming-of-age comedy Drillbit Taylor, which Paramount released in 2008. Kristofor Brown and Seth Rogen scripted that title, which hailed from Judd Apatow’s Apatow Productions.

Suicide Forest Village is the latest film from Takashi Shimizu, best known as the writer and director of The Grudge, both the original Japanese film and its US remake. But he has contributed a lot more to the genre both before and since. That includes an episode in another popular franchise, Tomie: Re-birth as well as Flight 7500 and Howling Village.
YouTuber Akina (Rinka Otani) livestreamed her trip into Aokigahara, the so-called Suicide Forest to prove that you can enter it and leave again. Needless to say things don’t go as planned. Hibiki watches it, both horrified and fascinated by what she sees.

Where to start with 100 Candles? Stephen King is best known for his work in the horror field, but he’s also been known to tackle all kinds of other genres from time to time, and his taste in movies appears to be similarly eclectic. The acclaimed author recently took to Twitter to offer a ringing endorsement to one of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s recent pics, 7500, an action-thriller released by Amazon Studios.
King can often be found engaging with his followers on the social network, and his praise for 7500 came in response to a tweet recommending the movie and lauding Gordon-Levitt’s performance in it.

Airline pilots have a code to report hijackings, but there is no codified response to what might happen on board. The first 7500 trailer shows terrorists can be unpredictable and deadly, regardless of their weapons. Written and directed by Patrick Vollrath, the film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a co-pilot who has to take the wheel after an unexpected burst of turbulence strikes the cabin.
“It looks like a routine day at work for Tobias, a soft-spoken young American co-pilot on a flight from Berlin to Paris as he runs through the preflight checklist with Michael, the pilot, and chats with Gökce, his flight-attendant girlfriend,” reads the official synopsis. “But shortly after takeoff, terrorists armed with makeshift knives suddenly storm the cockpit, seriously wounding Michael and slashing Tobias’ arm. Temporarily managing to fend off the attackers, a terrified Tobias contacts ground control to plan an emergency landing. But when the hijackers kill...

Amazon Prime’s new releases in June 2020 is fairly lacking in original material. That’s to be expected for a streaming service that focuses on quality over quantity to begin with now going through a pandemic content crunch.
Standup special Gina Brillon: The Floor Is Lava, Joseph Gordon-Levitt film 7500, and Pete the Cat season 2 are the only originals arriving this month. And that’s fine as Amazon is about to be home to one of 2019’s most fun films. That’s right – Knives Out makes its debut on June 12. It might be awhile before we get to see the next Benoit Blanc mystery so hopefully this will tide us over.
June 1 also sees the arrival of Dirty Dancing, Kingpin, and the tragically underrated Sex Drive. It’s not the most impressive month Amazon has ever had, but at least you still get free shipping.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in Patrick Vollrath's 7500 as an airline pilot who struggles to keep control of his craft after his flight is hijacked by terrorists. Debuting at the Locarno Film Festival in 2019, the thriller, which sounds great, in large part because Jgl is the pilot, will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on June 19, 2020. Here's the full synopsis: "When terrorists try to seize control of a Berlin-Paris flight, a mild-mannered young American co-pilot struggles to save the lives of the passengers and crew. From Oscar-nominated director, Patrick Vollrath (Everything Will be Okay), 7500 is a heart-pounding and thought-provoking thriller featuring an incredible performance from [Joseph] Gordon-Levitt." As noted, Patrick Vollrath directed; Omid Memar, Murathan Muslu, Carlo Kitzlinger, and Aylin...

Christian Serratos is in negotiations to star in the upcoming Netflix series based on the life of Tejano music star Selena Quintanilla, Variety has confirmed with sources.
The series was announced back in December and is described as a coming of age story following Selena (Serratos) as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music.
Netflix declined to comment.
Serratos is best known for her role as Rosita Espinosa on the hit AMC series “The Walking Dead.” She has been with that show since its fourth season, with Season 10 set to debut in early October. Ever since 9/11 changed the way we approach air travel, it’s been harder to make airplane-based thrillers in the soapy-silly trash tradition of “Airport” or “Executive Decision”: The panic of being under siege at 30,000 feet no longer feels like such ripe entertainment fodder with the image of two Boeing 767s hitting the Twin Towers still vivid in our collective consciousness. Paul Greengrass’ deliberately grueling docudrama “United 93,” of course, pointed a solemn new way for the genre, though that had historical veracity and import on its side. German director Patrick Vollrath’s short, stomach-tightening debut feature “7500” follows in its flight path, albeit with a wholly fictional scenario — told from the perspective of the junior co-pilot (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) whose simple Berlin-to-Paris assignment is violently disrupted by Islamist hijackers.

With a seemingly endless amount of streaming options — not only the titles at our disposal, but services themselves — we’ve taken it upon ourselves to highlight the titles that have recently hit the interwebs. Every week, one will be able to see the cream of the crop (or perhaps some simply interesting picks) of streaming titles (new and old) across platforms such as Netflix, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, and more (note: U.S. only). Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.
Belgica (Felix van Groeningen)
Writer/director Felix van Groeningen based Belgica’s script on his father’s experiences running a nightclub in Ghent. How closely the story hews to the real events is anyone’s guess, though the boilerplate “though inspired by true events, all persons depicted are fictitious” title card which opens the film suggests that it might hit too close to home for more than a few real-life people.

Whenever a movie sits on the shelf for more than a couple years before being released, it’s hard not to wonder if the reason is because it turned out poorly. But when you look through the history books, or run a quick Google search, you’ll realize that many exceptional horror movies have languished in pre-release hell over the years. Films like You’re Next, The Cabin in the Woods, and Trick ‘r Treat took their sweet time entering our lives, and the same can certainly be said about Flight 7500 (formerly 7500).
But was this one worth the wait?
Written by Craig Rosenberg and directed by Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge), and originally set for release way back in 2012, Flight 7500 centers on the passengers of a doomed flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo.

Japanese director Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge) returns to horror with Flight 7500. This film, formerly titled Flight 75, takes place on a haunted airliner. Here, an eclectic cast of characters do their best to survive the flight and touch down on Earth, once again. Completed in 2012, the film stars Ryan Kwanten ("True Blood"), Jerry Ferrara ("Entourage") and Scout Taylor-Compton. The film's release details are available here. For more on the story, Flight 7500 starts with a ten hour trip. Flying out of Los Angeles, this trip is destined for Tokyo. But, there is a short pit stop in hell, at 30,000 feet as a supernatural force attacks the passengers. This title had a theatrical release in 2014? That release was missed by this horror fan. But, Flight 7500 will see a second release on DVD, in April. Lionsgate Home Entertainment will distribute this title. And, a trailer for the film is hosted below.

F. Javier Gutierrez has been chosen by Paramount to helm The Ring 3 or whatever they're going to call the third installment in the series. Don't act surprised, that a threequel is actually happening. Those rumblings were renewed in 2011 when we caught up to the producers on the set of Takashi Shimizu's 7500. Little is known about the next installment. THR says Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing. Gutierrez grabbed everyone's attention with Before the Fall.

And by "few years" I mean three. Cameras rolled in 2011 with Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart, Leslie Bibb, Nicky Whelan and Alex Frost starring. And yet, we've haven't see the film released domestically. There have been rumors over the years pointing to false release dates. Hell, one theater here in Los Angeles accidentally listed it on its website, but when you went to buy tickets it directed you to another film.

For some reason known only to some all wise (yeah right) studio execs, Ju-on: The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu’s latest horror flick 7500 has been sitting in moth balls in the States, for well over a year. Why? Who knows? It’s not as though Shimizu is an unknown name, and the it looks to be a perfectly competent fright flick, so we are somewhat baffled why it hasn’t had a Us release yet. Well one country, at least, we know it’s arrived at is Thailand. At least they’ve seen sense! Latest word on a U.S bow seems to be October time. We shall see..... Synopsis: A married couple and their two best friends board a plane bound for Japan, but they experience some supernatural turbulence when the aircraft comes under attack from unearthly forces. Meanwhile, a flight attendant ponders the potential repercussions of a complex,...

Wait, didn’t they already remade the Japanese horror flick “The Grudge” in 2004? Then did a sequel to it in 2006 and a second sequel in 2009? I must be out of my mind, because now I’m reading that Sam Raimi and his Ghost House pictures are going to remake … the remake? Yup. They’re remaking the remake. Yes, it’s a new low in Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen. The original Japanese franchise (called “Ju-on”) was created/directed by Takashi Shimizu, who actually also directed the first two American remakes of his own movie. Shimizu himself has since moved on, and recently directed the live-action “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and has the American horror flick “7500,” about supernatural shenanigans on a plane, stuck somewhere on some distributor’s shelf since 2012. It would only make sense for Shimizu to also return to direct the remake … of the remake … of his original movie … again.

Exclusive: Warner Bros has acquired Nemesis, a spec script by Christopher Wheeler that Animal Logic Entertainment, Safehouse Pictures and Weed Road will jointly produce. I don’t recall ever writing a spec script deal story that includes setting someone to do a rewrite. But the Warner Bros deal includes the hiring of a new writer in Craig Rosenberg, the Australian writer who has the Takashi Shimizu -directed 7500 for CBS Films and The Quiet Ones for Lionsgate. How did this happen? Wheeler, the Australian writer who was known as “The Film Pope,” died four years ago at age 40 of natural causes. His script went dormant until Safehouse’s Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell met with Zareh Nalbandian and Jason Lust of Animal Logic and got it going again. Animal Logic had originally developed it. Weed Road’s Akiva Goldsman will produce with Harold, Tunnell, Nalbandian and Lust.

It's been over a year since we last reported on Takashi Shimizu's new airborne horror '7500'. But even though time has flown by its been more and more difficult it seems to get this completed project off the runway. Originally slated for a late August 2012 release the movie was suddenly pushed back to sometime this year which now according to at least one of its stars will be happening this October. Scout Taylor-Compton ('Halloween') Tweeted the announcement that '7500 hits theaters in October!' Although no confirmation from CBS Films themselves it does seem completely viable that it'll manage to sneak into select theatres around Halloween time. '7500' also stars Amy Smart ('Mirrors'), Ryan Kwanten ('True Blood'), Jerry Ferrara ('Entourage'), Nicky Whelan (below), Jamie Chung ('Sorority Row'), Jonathon Schaech ('Prom Night') and Christian Serratos ('...

Fans of Japanese horror director Takashi Shimizu have been waiting quite a while for his return to English language cinema. And while I.m referring in part to it being 7 years since The Grudge 2 was released, this has more to do with his upcoming haunted plane flick 7500, which as been presumably gathering metaphorical dust over at CBS Films, who delayed the film.s 2012 release without following it up with a date that stuck. Thanks to a tweet from actress Scout Taylor-Compton, which we know isn.t a reliably concrete news source, we now know that the E.T.A. for 7500 landing in theaters is in two months. Give the tweet a read below. "7500" hits theaters in October! Good day for news :). Scout Compton (@PoutyScouty) August 10, 2013 Having it come out in October makes a lot of sense, given the Carrie remake is arguably the only scary flick getting a...

Actress Scout Taylor-Compton took to Twitter recently to tell her followers that, "7500 hits theaters in October!"
This isn't the first time we've heard an actor involved in the film tell us the film might come out on a certain date, though. Is Scout dead-on this time?
CBS has been sitting on the film since pulling it from its release date in 2012. If the film is coming out in October, expect to start seeing new promo materials as CBS needs to re-build awareness.

Up in the sky! It's a plane! It's a supernatural forces on a plane! It's Flight 7500!
The new trailer for the upcoming horror film "7500" shows something systematically terrorizing the passengers on a flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo.
Check out the trailer above and learn more about whatever might be eating Jamie Chung after the jump!
After viewing the trailer, two major questions remain unclear. First off, we have no idea what's causing all the trouble on the plane. It could really be anything from the world of horror movies. The little we see from the trailer leads us to believe that a ghost may be responsible, but then there's that mysterious man and the wooden box stowed safely under the seat in front of him.
Secondly, what's Turtle from "Entourage" doing on that flight without the boys? My theory: the ghost of Jerry Ferrara's extra belly weight...

Director Takashi Shimizu knows how to tickle our scary bone. Anyone who saw his 2004 thriller "The Grudge" vividly remembers that shower scene (shiver!), and now he's at it again - this time toying with an even touchier subject: fear of flight.
The teaser for his latest fright fest "7500" just dropped - featuring Amy Smart, Leslie Bibb, Jerry Ferrara, Ryan Kwanten, Christian Serratos, and Jamie Chung - and it reminds us that despite Alec Baldwin's opinions on the matter, there may in fact be a reason plane captains order all electronic devices be powered down before take-off.
What begins as a routine ten hour trek from Los Angeles to Tokyo, Japan (the setting for most of Shimizu's films), quickly goes awry, and strange things start to happen to the passengers aboard Flight 7500.
Take a look for yourself in the trailer, courtesy of IGN, but be sure to fasten your seat belt first!

CBS Films has unleashed the first trailer for Takashi Schimizu's (The Grudge) upcoming supernatural thriller 7500. The movie looks like it will make me never want to fly in a plane again. I already have a fear of flying, but this might put me over the edge.

Of all the things that can go wrong on an airplane, something tells us being attacked by a supernatural force is the last thing on your mind once that seatbelt is fastened and all electronic devices are switched to their off position. For the passengers of Flight 7500, however, they're going to wish for extreme turbulence before dealing with whatever it is that's making their journey to Tokyo feel more like a one-way trip to hell. IGN has released the first trailer for 7500, a new horror flick directed by Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge), starring Ryan Kwanten, Jamie Chung, Leslie Bibb, Jerry Ferrara, Amy Smart, Nicky Whelan and more. The film imagines what would happen if a group of airline passengers were attacked by some sort of supernatural force while cruising at 35,000 feet. Set to the...
