This is one of the better chapters.
15 October 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Takashi Shimizu can make horror with both hands tied behind his back. For this reason, I found that the American remake of Ju-on: The Grudge was a quasi-disappointment. Fortunately this time around, Shimizu is back in the saddle. Although not as horrifying as Ju- on: The Grudge 2, this chapter of the series is right back on track.

Being another production backed outing from Sam Raimi, the score and visuals felt even more natural than in past sequels. As this saga continues to evolve (as it had better!), there were many "plot thread" subtleties untouched in the Ju-on: 2 that were happily noted. I felt it gave the American movies a necessary departure from the Japanese story.

As I'm sure Shimizu is getting sick of using and stretching the same characters and themes AND because I'm unsure if a third installment is coming, I'll savor this little morsel of horror.

Check it out. Just don't forget to watch Ju-on 2!!!
