Coming off of a big summer led by the Barbenheimer phenomenon as both "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" made more money than anyone could have possibly expected, the fall moviegoing season has, thus far, been a little disappointing. But September gave way to October this past weekend with a trio of big releases hitting theaters in the form of "Saw X," "Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie," and the original sci-fi film "The Creator" (read our review here). It was, all at once, an encouraging result in some ways and a disappointing one for those who want to see more adult-skewing, non-horror fare in theaters.
While it was pegged as a close race heading into the weekend, the family-friendly flick won out with relative ease. "Paw Patrol" topped the charts with a mighty $23 million opening, per The Numbers. "Saw X" had to settle for second with $18 million. That said, it's still a big...

My three-year-old has a conundrum. She loves “Paw Patrol,” but the franchise’s first feature film (2021) opens on a baby turtle in distress. The little guy ends up Ok, of course (this is an animated children’s movie after all), but it caused enough trauma to effectively ban screenings in our house. That would be perfectly fine with me, except for the fact that “Paw Patrol: The Movie” is significantly more tolerable than “Paw Patrol” the series
Our trip to see “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” was always going to be a gamble. Averse to risk, my wife and I bought insurance in the form of popcorn, Reese’s Pieces, and Twizzlers. And it worked — until it didn’t.
The theater was predictably packed for the 4:15 p.m. showing on its opening Saturday; “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” would win the weekend by what IndieWire box-office reporter Tom Brueggemann called a “healthy” margin.

Dumb Money, a 2023 American biographical comedy-drama film directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, failed to make wonders in the box office despite having good audience and critics reviews. The film, which is based on the 2021 book The Antisocial Network by Ben Mezrich and chronicles the GameStop short squeeze of January 2021, flopped with a cumulative gross of around $7.3 million against the $30 million budget.
As of now, Dumb Money has not been released in India. The India release will be on October 13, which is National Cinema Day, and as part of it, the movie will be screened for 99 rupeesin the opening day, which is a very good deal. Previously film was planned to released in October 20.

Update: Here we are with a sort of hybrid weekend at the international box office: there were fresh entries from the Hollywood studios, as well as major new titles timed to holiday play in local markets, and a holdover that’s continuing to rack up records.
On the studio side, Paramount/Spin Master’s Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie took top dog status in its expanded rollout. The family title had, last week, released in Australia and New Zealand before adding 43 offshore markets this session for a total $23.1M to date overseas. The global start is $46.1M.
Word of mouth is strong with these pups, who are out in just 53% of the international marketplace to date. On a like-for-like basis including previews, the overseas opening result is 70% ahead of Paw Patrol: The Movie, giving this Cal Brunker-directed title the best opening for the franchise.

Two new releases and one wide expansion were no match for the animated puppies of Paw Patrol as their newest movie Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie easily snagged first place with $23 million. That number represents a nearly $10 million increase over the $13.1 million earned by 2021’s Paw Patrol: The Movie in its debut. It would seem this sequel has earned its mighty moniker.
The film has garnered some solid critical reviews with the consensus being that this movie is a great way to introduce younger audiences to the big screen experience while the parents of those younger audience members took to the internet to propel the film to a solid 94% audience score and a great A cinemascore. With no family films hitting screens until November 17 when Trolls Band Together opens, you can expect this one to have decent legs, although I don’t expect it to play as well as other...

Paramount’s animated sequel “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” topped the box office in its debut, earning a solid $23 million from 3,989 North American locations over the weekend.
Those ticket sales were more than enough to rule over the three other new nationwide releases, which could be categorized as the good (Lionsgate’s gruesome “Saw X”), the meh (Disney and New Regency’s sci-fi thriller “The Creator”) and the ugly (Sony’s Game Stop stock-inspired “Dumb Money”).
“Saw X” took second place with $18 million, an impressive start for the 10th entry in the long-running horror series. It’s not the biggest debut of the bunch, which still belongs to 2006’s “Saw III” ($33 million), but it improved upon the two prior installments, 2021’s spinoff “Spiral” ($8.7 million) and 2017’s “Jigsaw” ($16.6 million). It cost just $13 million, so it’ll be profitable for its backers by the end of its theatrical run.

Happy pups prevailed at the domestic box office this weekend as Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie scared off Saw X and The Creator with $23 million from 3,989 theaters in a needed win for the family marketplace.
The news was just as good overseas, where the sequel flexed its muscle in opening to $23.1 million from 45 markets for a global bow of $46.1 million, a 70 percent uptick over the last pic. Parents and kids made up 90 percent of the audience in North America, where the sequel over-indexed in most regions save for the western part of the U.S.
Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, which cost a lean $30 million to produce before marketing, follows the success of 2021’s Paw Patrol: The Movie that helped solidify Paramount chief Brian Robbins’ standing. That film opened to $13.1 million domestically before turning into a sleeper hit and grossing $140 million globally, a notable figure considering the pandemic and a day-and-date debut on Paramount+.

‘Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie’ Barking Louder Than ‘Saw X’ and ‘The Creator’ For Easy Box Office Win
After the success of Barbenheimer, audiences will now reveal if they have an appetite for what’s being dubbed “Saw Patrol” this weekend as Paramount’s kid-friendly Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie goes up against Lionsgate’s horror feature Saw X.
Both movies did respectable business on Friday. Saw X won the day with an estimated $8 million — including $2 million in Thursday night grosses — although Paw Patrol will take the lead sometime on Saturday for a weekend opening in the $22.5 million range, ahead of 2021’s Paw Patrol: The Movie, which came out during the tough days of the pandemic and debuted to $13.1 million.
While the Internet bestowed Saw and Paw Patrol with the memable moniker Saw Patrol (describing the unlikely idea of doing a double feature), the weekend’s biggest swing is The Creator, the $80 million sci-fi feature from Rogue One director Gareth Edwards. The film brought in $5.6 million on Friday,...

The pups devoted to rescue are back up on the big screen and this time with superpowers in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, the animated sequel to 2021’s Paw Patrol: The Movie.
The PG-rated film begins with a meteor headed straight for Adventure City, thanks to the work of mad scientist Victoria Vance (voiced by Taraji P. Henson). Naturally, the Paw Patrol kicks into action, working to clear the streets and get everyone out of the way of the gigantic crashing rock.
No one is injured, thanks to the quick work of the Paw Patrol. However, the crash of the meteor exposed the young pups to powerful energy crystals that had been hidden inside the space rock. Once released, these crystals give the Paw Patrol members superpowers.

Disney (“The Creator”), Paramount (“Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie”), and Lionsgate (“Saw X”) will fight for #1 this weekend — and it’s anyone’s to win to earn.
These three titles, along with the third-week expansion of “Dumb Money” (Sony), should easily place ahead of “Nun II” (Warner Bros.) and “Expend4bles” (Lionsgate), which were the top two last week — Aka the worst box-office weekend of the year. Any new release that exceeds $20 million will likely prevail, since that is at the high end of expectations. Industry sources place the range for the three new films range between $10 million-$20 million.
Stakes are highest for “The Creator.” With a budget around $80 million-$90 million, it’s an economic production compared to most of Disney’s high-end FX extravaganzas (this one comes from Fox Studios).

With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem drifting out of the top ten this week after earning a respectable $116.5 million at the domestic box office, it is time for a new family film to hit the market and that film is Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. I will be honest, I don’t know much about Paw Patrol, is it a series for toddlers or do the stories skew a bit older? What I do know is that in August 2021 Paw Patrol: The Movie was released to a $13.1 million opening on its way to a $40.1 million domestic finish ($144.3 million worldwide). That number shows me that there is an audience for this franchise, and that was just a movie, it wasn’t mighty! That movie faced off against the second week of the hit Ryan Reynolds film Free Guy which won the weekend while the other new releases of the week: The Protege,...

Paramount’s animated “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” looks to rule the box office in a weekend that’s packed with new releases. Three other movies, Lionsgate’s gruesome “Saw X,” Disney and New Regency’s sci-fi thriller “The Creator” and Sony’s Game Stop stock-inspired “Dumb Money,” will open nationwide and attempt to break through during a crowded weekend.
According to estimates, “Paw Patrol” is aiming to lead with $18 million to $20 million, but it may be a close race against “Saw X” for first place on box office charts. The 10th Jigsaw slasher movie is targeting $15 million to $18 million, though some projections expect initial ticket sales to hit $20 million to $25 million. “The Creator,” starring John David Washington and Gemma Chan, won’t be far behind with estimates of $16 million to $19 million in its debut. Fans can’t seem to agree on Kim Kardashian‘s debut in “American Horror Story.” Following Wednesday night’s debut of “Delicate,” the super-celebrity was described as everything from “super annoying” to worthy of an Oscar.
The reactions have been as divisive as they are for Kardashian herself. In “Delicate,” Kardashian plays a vulgar, fabulous and no-nonsense publicist named Siobhan. She’s a version of a trope that’s appeared in several seasons of the horror anthology series: a diva who walks the line between cruel and funny.
Those who enjoyed Kardashian’s performance praised the star for “eating this role” and for being “a slay.” One fan said Kardashian was “perfect for this role” even though they noted that she “kind of played herself.” One fan video even claimed Kardashian “might be the best actor of our generation” and should get an Oscar for her role. Reality TV star and beauty mogul Kim Kardashian has been in the spotlight for over 15 years. Kardashian rose to fame in 2007 with the E! We’ve all had a sensible chuckle at the Barbenheimer meme. The idea that something as po-faced as a Christopher Nolan movie about the perils of creating the atomic bomb is being released at the same time as a pink glitter explosion of a flick about Mattel’s immortal fashion doll and her adventures in the real world makes for a naturally hilarious showdown slash double bill.
But as the Barbenheimer t-shirts, posts, video edits, and think pieces continue to pour in, horror fans may well be watching from the shadows, eyes glowing red, knowing that their time is almost nigh. When July is over, Barbie vs. Oppenheimer will be but a pleasant summer memory, but Saw X vs. Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie? Well, that’s when shit could get real.

It was little surprise that the Chris Hemsworth action-sequel “Extraction 2” would lead Netflix’s Top 10 chart for the week of June 12, but the original “Extraction” ended up taking second place as viewers that missed it caught up before watching its sequel. Read on for this week’s analysis, noting that Netflix has begun focusing more on total views for many of their films and series, rather than just hours viewed.
“Extraction 2” scored 42.8 million views worldwide since debuting on the streamer on Friday, June 16, or 88.4 million hours viewed, as the #1 most-viewed film in 88 of the 93 countries where it entered the Top 10. Ireland was the only primarily English-speaking country that had a different movie watched the most, and that was “Paw Patrol: The Movie.”
The original “Extraction” from 2020 scored 9.6 million views for 18.8 million viewing hours, while “Paw Patrol” was watched 6.6 million times or 9.4 million hours. Even less of a surprise...

Ever since American socialite Kim Kardashian was announced as being cast in FX’s “American Horror Story” Season 12 (subtitled “Delicate”), fans have taken to social media to express their hesitation. Even former “AHS” costar Patti LuPone had nothing nice to say about the casting announcement. But Kardashian is prepared to silence all of her haters before she begins filming at the end of May. How? She’s taking acting lessons.
“I am, of course, yes, yes,” she told Variety‘s Marc Malkin at the Met Gala when he asked if she was taking acting lessons (watch below). Kardashian added, “You know, it’s a challenge. I like to challenge myself.”
