At the beginning of this season, it says that over a year had passed (not six months). Technically, if they were in the present last season, then this season is about six months in the future. The whole point of adding a year was so that the writers could shoehorn a one year relationship between Levy Tran and Lukas Till that had never existed in season 3, and was over at the beginning of season 4. Kind of confusing and convoluted.
All this season, Levy Tran and Lukas Till have had an on-again, off-again relationship that is beyond awkward and forced. It is pretty obvious from the frigid smiles and uncomfortable body language that the two of them do not enjoy kissing each other, and it really adds nothing to the MacGyver series. Just a lot of awkward moments. I wish they would finally end this charade, and at the end of this episode, it turns out that there may be a new player for MacGyver's heart.
Which brings me to the action part of this episode. Double-dating at a restaurant, MacGyver immediately spots the odd characters and follows them around, and discovers a crime. All hell breaks loose, shooting, blowing things up, fighting, martial arts, cracked skulls, and more. It is entertaining to watch. If you think about the story, you are doomed. I am old enough to remember the original MacGyver, before CGI, and it was ten times dumber than this show. So I give this episode an 8, for entertaining!!
