Lena Dunham is back acting, this time alongside Stephen Fry for a poignant father-daughter road trip dramedy.
Dunham and Fry co-lead the upcoming feature “Treasure,” written and directed by Julia von Heinz. “Treasure” centers on a father (Fry) and daughter (Dunham) who opt to road trip through Poland while revisiting their family’s history. Fry stars as Edek, a Holocaust survivor returning to post-socialist Poland in the 1990s. Dunham plays music journalist Ruth, who learns more about her father along the way.
Dunham also produces the film, along with writer/director von Heinz and Fabian Gasmia. Thomas Jaeger, Antoine Delahousse, and Marius Wtodarski co-produce. The film is adapted from Lily Brett’s novel “Too Many Men.”
“Treasure” marks von Heinz’s third and final installment in her “Aftermath” trilogy, which centers on the aftermath effects of the Holocaust on subsequent generations. The German director previously helmed “And Tomorrow the Entire World” and “Hanna’s Journey.

Music artist Eve became one of the hip hop industry’s most successful female artists after making her debut with the Ruff Ryders. But it wasn’t long before the spotlight took its toll.
Eve demanded an Mri due to panic attacks Eve | Gabe Ginsberg/Getty Images
The journey to hip hop stardom wasn’t easy for Eve. The Mc was inspired to pursue a professional career in the music industry after a chance-encounter with Ma$e. Working as a dancer at the time, she decided to focus more energy on music, which eventually caught the attention of hip hop mogul Dr. Dre. She was soon signed to his Aftermath record label. But Eve still might not have honed her skills as an all-around songwriter, and she was let go from Aftermath months later.

A trailer for Prey has just arrived online – and no, we’re not talking about that Predator movie that was just released a while back. This is a new movie called Prey, which Vertical will be giving a theatrical and VOD release on March 15th. It seems kind of soon to be sending another movie called Prey out into the world, but clearly Vertical disagrees. Ryan Phillippe (Shooter), Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), and Mena Suvari (American Beauty) star in this “nature run amok” survival thriller, and you can check out the trailer in the embed above. A poster for the film can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil, who previously worked with Phillippe on the 2022 thriller Collide and with Hirsch on the 2022 thriller The Immaculate Room, Prey has the following synopsis: After an extremist militant group threatens their lives,...

Skeletons in the Closet is the latest film from director Asif Akbar. Even that wasn’t enough preparation for what I was about to endure.
Mark and Valentina are dealing with financial problems. Those problems are about to get a lot worse, as instead of the raise he was expecting, Mark gets a pink slip. Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer vaultboy continues his recent string of releases with his new single, “where tf have you been?”. The song follows vaultboy enjoying the rush of a new love, while simultaneously dealing with the frustration of not finding said love earlier.
“This song is about loving someone so much that you’re actually mad that they didn’t come into your life sooner. It’s sarcastic and dramatic and was a lot of fun to make. I hope it can be one of the songs people blast in the car when they’re with their significant other having a good time,” said vaultboy.
Dubbed “the King of Sad Songs” by Rolling Stone, vaultboy is no stranger to being vulnerable and wearing his heart on his sleeve. This time, vaultboy takes a more playful and comedic approach, delivering an uptempo track with electronic tendencies. His latest release follows “everything,...

The latest work from Hungarian directors Gergö Elekes and József Gallai, a voiceover opens Aftermath to establish this world where humanity is on the verge of an important change. A subsequent interview may reveal that more tests are needed, yet it remains clear that humanity is close to a vital medical discovery.
The next scene introduces a distressed Kate (Fruzsina Nagy), who leaves her home with no intention of returning. Upon receiving a call from her irate boss, her frustrations are shared through expository dialogue regarding how she is the only employee who has consistently worked on a major project. In a moment that feels glaringly artificial, Kate takes her eye off the road and is in an accident.

[This story contains spoilers from the first four episodes of season six of The Crown.]
A question that has lingered around The Crown since its introduction of Princess Diana in season four is how the fictional drama will deal with the real-life death of the Princess of Wales in 1997. The storyline comes to a head in part one of the sixth and final season of the series, now streaming on Netflix, which finds Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Al-Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) exploring the beginnings of a relationship.
Over the course of four episodes, audiences see how not only the couple’s lives but their budding romance was snatched from them in its infancy, smothered by the media and Dodi’s father, Mohamed Al-Fayed’s (Salim Daw), own selfish desires for his son and his business empire.
“It was really important for us to create that sense for the audience so that when they head into this pressure cooker of turmoil, you know...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains light spoilers for “The Crown” Season 6, Part 1.]
When the ghost of Diana, Princess of Wales, first appears, she says, “Ta-da!”
Narratively speaking, her cheeky apparition arrives in response to Charles (Dominic West) talking to himself. He’s just left Paris after examining her body — a sight spared the viewer, who’s just witnessed Mohamed Al-Fayed (Salim Daw) weep over his son’s corpse — and, on the plane ride back to England, he’s awestruck by his ex-wife’s sway over the world, even in death. “Paris,” he says. “One of the busiest cities in the world, and you brought it to a standstill.” And then there she is. No longer silent and still on a surgical table, but sitting right across from the father of her children. “Ta-da!” she says, as if Charles, let alone any of “The Crown’s” viewers, are in the mood for a magic trick.

Rockism, in case you don’t know the term, is the school of thought that holds the noisy “purity” of rock ‘n’ roll to be morally and aesthetically superior to the “corruption” of pop. There are numerous iconic examples of rockism. It was there in the postpunk ’80s hipsters who found the Replacements and Joy Division to be superior to Michael Jackson or Madonna. It was there in the rock-crit establishment of the mid-2000s mounting its collective attack on Coldplay. And it was there, just last week, in The New York Times when Jeff Tweedy, the leader of Wilco, printed an excerpt from his new book in which he apologized, in a “My name is Jeff, and I’m a rockist” sort of way, for having trashed Abba’s “Dancing Queen” in his indie youth; what he now realizes, only 47 years after it was released, is that it’s a great song.

‘A Town Called Panic’: The Best Stop-Motion Movie About Bulk Brick Sales to Ever Emerge from Belgium
On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: Tragically, Fifty Million Bricks Still Goes Exactly as Far as It Once Did
Two core memories stick out to me from my eighth grade French class: (1) My teacher using the overhead projector as a visual aid while she vented her frustrations about her inability to stop growing hair on her big toe; and (2) watching “A Town Called Panic” for the first time when a substitute was in charge. It’s worth noting that neither of these experiences have had any real bearing on my ability to speak French — but given...

Exclusive: The director of Netflix drama The Crown‘s episodes re-creating Princess Diana’s death in Paris 26 years ago has revealed the extraordinary efforts that went into ensuring it was handled with tact.
Speaking exclusively to Deadline, Christian Schwochow, who directed the three crucial Season 6 episodes that feature what are likely to be some of the most talked about moments on television this year, said that though shots were filmed of Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, in the Paris morgue, there was never any intention of them being included in the final edit.

The music of The Rolling Stones has always been filled with controversy and innuendoes. However, some of their most iconic songs contain lyrics that are massive red flags. One, in particular, stands out: “Under My Thumb” continues to spark debate among fans.
The Rolling Stones ‘Under My Thumb’ lyrics are about controlling a partner
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and The Rolling Stones have long been considered one of the forerunners of the legacy of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Many of their lyrics are littered with sexual innuendoes.

Currently behind bars on a 30-year sentence for rape, Danny Masterson is heading back to court.
In a short hearing today in downtown Los Angeles, Judge Upinder Kalra lifted the long stay on the 2019-filed harassment case against the That 70’s Show actor and the Church of Scientology. Also during the 10-minute session, the LA Superior Court judge set a trial start date for the case.
Right now, Masterson and the David Miscavige-led Church are set to go to trial on September 22, 2025. In case you are wondering, court backlogs and an expected flood of discovery filings are among several reasons the trial won’t start for nearly two years.

The Harry Potter films tell the story of a young boy who overcomes tragedy to become a great wizard. Based on the books by J.K. Rowling (who has said some things that are absolutely awful), the stories spellbound millions of people who waited for their owl message telling them they got into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and bought wands by the gazillions. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, some incredible stunt performers were doing amazing work to make us buy that the main actors were actually pulling off these feats of bravery. There was flying on brooms, fight scenes, explosions, and so much more over the course of eight films. Stuntman David Holmes was there for every one of them, doubling star Daniel Radcliffe and taking on the dangerous things the main actor couldn't do.
Unfortunately, during a rehearsal scene for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," Holmes was injured.

Updated with church response: The relations between Leah Remini and her former friends in Scientology have been bitter for a decade, as the actor’s harassment lawsuit against the church this week made clear.

Calling the multi-claim complaint against the church and Miscavige “ludicrous and the allegations pure lunacy,” Scientology got personal in its response, referring to the Emmy-winning Scientology and the Aftermath host as “a horrible person” and a hate-speech-spewing “bigot.” The statement seemingly sidestepped the issues brought up in the suit to slam once-favored member Remini as “toxic to so many who have the misfortune to come in contact with her.”

After years of fighting Scientology in the public arena, Leah Remini will take the battle to court with a new lawsuit against the church and its current leader David Miscavige.
In a 60-page lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone and filed Wednesday in a Los Angeles superior court, Remini accuses Miscavige and the Church of Scientology of years of harassment, defamation, and stalking.
“After 17 years of harassment, intimidation, surveillance, and defamation, I am filing a lawsuit against Scientology and David Miscavige,” Remini said in a statement on her Substack.

Alan Tenta in The History Channel’s ‘Alone’ season 10
The History Channel’s Alone season 10 episode seven kicks off on day 31 with five survivalists still in the hunt for the $500,000 grand prize. Each of the five remaining survivalists – Alan, Mikey, Wyatt, Taz, and Melanie – gets camera time on episode seven, “Aftermath.” And by the end of the one-hour episode, the five hardy survivalists are still battling the environment in the remote islands surrounding Reindeer Lake in Northern Saskatchewan.
Alan Tenta, Age 51, Columbia Valley, BC, Canada
Day 31 – It’s 33 degrees, but the wind’s died down and it’s calm. Alan’s lost 37 pounds and knows he needs to eat more fish. He heads off to check the gillnet and it’s caught a duck. Using a gillnet’s an illegal/unethical harvesting method, so he has to release the merganser (a fish-eating duck). You can only kill them via a bow and arrow.

It’s almost impossible to escape once you get involved with the mob, and if I were Emile Hirsch‘s Bobby Belluci, I’d start learning how to swim with the fishes. Vertical Entertainment proudly presents an Inside Man trailer depicting a bloody tale of deception, dangerous liaisons, and a disturbing body count. Based on actual events, Inside Man tells the story of Bobby Belluci, a disgraced police detective seeking redemption by going undercover to expose a violent crime syndicate. However, as Bobby sinks deeper into the mob, the price for absolution may be higher than he can afford.
Danny A. Abeckaser directs from a screenplay by Kosta Kondiloppulos. Taking place during the 1960s and 1970s, Inside Man stars Lucy Hale, Jake Cannavale, Ashley Greene, Vincent Laresca, Kyle Stefanski, Greg Finley, and Bo Dietl alongside Hirsch.

Last year, Ashley Greene (the Twilight saga) and Shawn Ashmore (Adam Green’s Frozen) shared the screen in the Netflix-released thriller Aftermath. Now Deadline reports that Greene and Ashmore have been reunited on the set of the supernatural horror film It Feeds, which is currently in production.
It Feeds will tell the story of a young girl who insists that a malevolent entity is feeding on her. Greene’s character is “a clairvoyant therapist who must confront her own personal demons to save the girl before she is taken completely.” Ashmore is playing “the anguished father, desperately struggling to protect his daughter.”
Deadline doesn’t name the director of It Feeds or the screenwriter, but they do mention that this film is the first in what is planned to be a ten-film slate of genre projects that’s coming our way from Productivity Media Inc and Black Fawn Films.

A true open-world Star Wars game has been a long time coming, but Ubisoft Massive finally seems set to deliver. Star Wars Outlaws sees players take on the role of charming scoundrel Kay Vess as she navigates the criminal underworld in the year between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and attempts “one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen,” according to StarWars.com.
A gameplay demo released during this week’s Ubisoft Forward conference gave fans a taste of what they can expect from Kay’s adventure. The walkthrough showed Kay employing stealth tactics to steal something from a rival gang before all hell broke loose. Obstacles and hardships are inevitable parts of life’s journey. While some people manage to overcome these obstacles and emerge stronger, others might give in to the challenges they experience. The common thread in the stories of those who face a significant loss in their lives is their persistent faith in themselves, their dedication to their work, and their unyielding optimism for a brighter future. Michael J. Fox, a famous star in 1980s movies and TV series, is one of the greatest examples of persistence. He is an indomitably optimistic man diagnosed with a tragic illness. He was in his late 20s when doctors diagnosed him with life-threatening Parkinson’s disease. Beginning with the Back to the Future trilogy and the hit TV series Family Ties, Michael Fox gained popularity and became a Hollywood phenomenon. However, in 1991, after receiving his diagnosis, he was first confronted with the nightmare that was...

Vertical fully financed the pic and has taken North American rights, with Voltage Pictures locking down rights for all international territories, preparing now to present the film to buyers at Cannes.
In the film written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil (Collide), a young couple is forced to flee their Christian missionary post in the Kalahari Desert aboard a rickety plane after an extremist militant group threatens their lives. Piloted by a corrupt smuggler (Hirsch), the plane loses power and crash-lands in the middle of an animal preserve populated by lions, leopards and hyenas. Injured, frightened, and being tracked by the extremists, this ragtag group must fight for their survival from both man and beast where only the strong will survive.

Thirty years after the deadly standoff between federal law enforcement and the Branch Davidian sect in Waco, Texas, even the most fundamental facts of the tragedy remain contested. Both sides insist the other initiated the initial volley of gunfire that killed four agents and six sectarians. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms insists David Koresh and his followers later set fire to their compound, killing another 48 adults and 28 children in an act of mass suicide. The surviving Branch Davidians maintain that the FBI was the aggressor, and the deadly fire resulted from the Atf’s decision to deploy stun grenades and tear gas.
The decades since have created only tighter knots of recrimination. But you might not get that impression from watching “Waco,” the 2018 Paramount Network miniseries about the nearly eight-week standoff and that fatal inferno. In the hands of brothers John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle, who wrote...

This Star Wars: The Mandalorian article contains spoilers.
The Mandalorian may have unleashed its most Star Wars-y story ever with “The Spies,” an episode that features Mandos vs. Imperial stormtroopers with jetpacks, several references to Legends canon, and yet another tease for Grand Admiral Thrawn. It also features the single best Grogu gag of the entire season with the arrival of Ig-12 and his “yes” and “no” buttons. The episode is everything you could possibly want from a Star Wars adventure and then some. Plus, some very serious stakes are introduced ahead of the finale.
All the way through, we’re also treated to plenty of easter eggs, references, and callbacks to the wider Star Wars galaxy. Here are the ones that caught our attention…

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "The Mandalorian."
When season 1 of "The Mandalorian" was first revealed to take place in the interim years between the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy, it felt like a choice that was all but predestined. After all, it wouldn't have made much sense for the shiny new streaming series to outpace the timeline of the saga films, nor would it have been advisable to rob themselves of the narrative (and crossover) potential of roping it several established characters from various corners of the "Star Wars" galaxy. Now, however, season 3 appears set on proving just how smart it was to dive deep into a largely unexplored period of time in the franchise's canon.
Season 3, episode 7, entitled "Chapter 23: The Spies" (you can check out /Film's review by Bryan Young here), provides the show's most emphatic statement yet that there's plenty of gaps...

This post contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" Chapter 23 - "The Spies."
There were some suspiciously familiar characters in today's episode of "The Mandalorian," and for fans of the entirety of the "Star Wars" saga and all of its various media, it was a revelation that provides significant context about where this universe is heading. One character in particular ties into the legacy of the sequel trilogy and lays the groundwork for the Stormtrooper program that will produce Finn — known then as Fn-2187. That character is Commandant Hux, who appears in Moff Gideon's Shadow Council of the Imperial Remnant, played by Brian Gleeson.
You may recognize Brian Gleeson as the brother of General Hux actor Domnhall Gleeson, and this is no accident; his character is actually Hux's father, Brendol. Even the name Brendol is a nod to the real-life father of Domnhall and Brian Gleeson: "The Banshees of Inisherin" star Brendan Gleeson.

"The Clone Wars" cartoon introduced the Togruta padawan who won the hearts of many fans. George Lucas created Ahsoka Tano to give the famed Anakin Skywalker an apprentice, thus kickstarting a game-changing piece of canon outside of his "Star Wars" feature trilogies. Originated and voiced by Ashley Eckstein, the Togruta entered "Star Wars" with a coming-of-age arc that endured across several "Star Wars" cartoons, texts, and now the live-action realm beginning with "The Mandalorian" (portrayed in the flesh by Rosario Dawson).
The upcoming live-action "Ahsoka" series, developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, seems both exciting and daunting for Star Wars fans, since it heralds the live-action iterations of the fan-favorite Spectres of the Ghost crew in the "Star Wars Rebels" cartoon. If you want to (re)familiarize yourself with Ahsoka and her allies, /Film has gathered the necessary textual and illustrated projects you should read before the new show premieres.

This post contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" season 3, episode 3, "The Convert."
In the first season of "The Mandalorian," Dr. Penn Pershing (Omid Abtahi) was still in the thrall of the Imperial Remnant and Moff Gideon as a science and cloning officer. He joined the Amnesty Program of the New Republic in a bid to be useful to the galaxy once more, as well as avoid a war tribunal. As his task in the Amnesty Program, he was given the job of inventorying items slated for destruction and decommission by the New Republic. Much of his work revolves around the cataloguing of equipment on Star Destroyers in the disposal yards, ready to be junked. Some of that equipment could still be of value to the New Republic, though, and he raises the issue with his supervisor. The supervisor is skeptical that anything can be done and he mentions how behind they are in their work.

On the latest episode of "The Mandalorian," "Chapter 19: The Convert," we take a side-step into the story of Dr. Pershing. He was the Imperial cloning scientist from the first season of "The Mandalorian" and is now working to restore his honor and integrity, taking part in the New Republic Amnesty Program. He finds someone he knows in that same program with him: Elia Kane, the former communications officer of Moff Gideon.
He seems to distrust her to start, but they spend time together in their designated zone on Coruscant and they form a fast friendship. One of the places they go is to Monument Plaza on Coruscant, where they even see the peak of Umate, the tallest mountain on Coruscant. It has the feel of Disneyland, with children running around and playing, droids juggling on stilts, and glowing ice cream treats for sale.

Throughout the first six films of the "Star Wars" saga, Coruscant was the glittering jewel of the galaxy and center of all life and politics. As the home of the galactic senate, it housed the centralized government of the Republic and the headquarters of the Jedi.

The Rolling Stones remain one of the most legendary classic rock bands. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood keep going long after fellow 1960s bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd called it a day. In “The Apostate,” we reunite with Mando and Grogu for a new adventure to Mandalore. But first, a few side quests that take the duo back to the Armorer and Greef Karga. “The Apostate” introduces a brand-new villain to the Mandoverse. Meet the pirate king Gorian Shard. We have no idea what species he is, but we do know Gorian is very, very cross with Greef Karga. Nevarro’s gone legit and the pirates have been cut out of the spoils.
