James Drury in the title role carries this Virginian episode all by himself. He's in
Beauville, Texas where he conducts a sale of Shiloh horses and gets a bank draft
for $10,000.00 dollars from the Express office just as it's being robbed. As the
sheriff thinks he might be complicit in the robbery he's held in town for a bit.
But the horse trader Drury did business vouchers for him.
But on back to Medicine Bow he gets to ride with the mysterious and lovely Diane Baker. And he gets a lot of bad company too as folks think he might be the robber.
Frank McGrath formerly of Wagon Train as Charlie Wooster has a nice part as the stagecoach driver. He functions as a sidekick role for The Virginian and is the only he can trust at times.
Lots of similarity to The Maltese Falcon here.
