Give me that Soundtrack
liveride26 July 2006
The movie was only watchable in parts, but those parts made me laugh, and the soundtrack make me dance. I must obey, and laugh when it's funny and dance when the beat is kicking so I can't write this movie off. I love the split scene with the camera on rollers rotating between the ladies and guys in the beauty parlor busting on the sexes, gays, and whatever. If it ain't politically incorrect, what's the point!! Video and sound quality was poor except for the final walk off which had an awesome soundtrack for each beauty schools examples. For that reason alone, I'm writing this and SEARCHING FOR THE SOUNDTRACK, so hook me up if you can find it!!!

Unwatchably Bad
drdisque5 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I admit, I'm a fan of bad movies, but this movie was just TOOOO bad. It is an extremely low budget film that appears to be shot by a guy and his friends in St. Louis. It centers around 2 construction workers convicted of a "hate crime" in a surreal and poorly thought out courtroom scene being sentenced to attending the beauty school of the gay beautician they committed the crime on. One of the workers gets sexually interested in the engaged roommate of the gay beautician and hilarity attempts to ensue. However, it ends up being just a bunch cliché bad jokes about gays, black culture, and fat people, the worst of which being the beautician constantly referring to the vagina as a "fish". Do not watch this movie, even if you like bad movies, its not worth it.

Don't take this movie so seriously, just enjoy it.

This movie is not attempting to win any mainstream awards. Instead, it is presenting some very important issues that the "mainstream Black community" insists on ignoring--but that continue to take their toll on the spirit and lives of Black men and women. Real issues like homophobia, illness, real hate crimes, sexism and identity.

If you listen closely, you will catch some well written dialog that just may not have been executed as well as a million dollar actor or actress could.

The movie has some good music, wit and humor. It's not for children because there is definitely foul language, but overall it's fun and doesn't take itself as heavily as so many other movies do.

Also, the fact that it looks like it was filmed by some cousins with a camcorder makes its subject matter that much more attainable.

I'm glad that I was able to see this movie, and I am proud of the initiative that the crew and cast had to get up and get something DONE! I look forward to seeing them grow and move on to other projects.
