Exposed (2016)
A crazy little film with big stars and withheld evidence
Keanu Reeves, Mira Sorvino, a gorgeous Anna De Armas...what can go wrong? Disjointed execution of the plot and withholding evidence from the viewers until the end of the film. *spoiler alert* We never know why Detective Galban (Keanu) has an interest in Isabel (Anna) until we see the wedding ring and shoe heel evidence recovered from the first murder crime scene, with about 10min left in the movie. Isabel is a pleasure to look at, so lovely, clean and faithful and I was never bored when she was on screen. Galban on the other hand was a lead weight, bumbling his way through both his investigation, personal life, and sex with Sorvino. Mira Sorvino injected a little life into the non-latin side of the film, but suffered from acting opposite Keanu and dull film quality. There was some street gang interactions and murders that made little to no sense. The ending rounds things out relatively well as we learn of the rapes and incest that let to multiple murders, but it's a painful road for the viewer to get that far.
Defiance (2013)
The series is falling downhill fast but is saved by Jaime Murray
Finally Mia Kirshner is listed in the cast list. Despite that oversight correction; the series is falling downhill fast. While wasting time on a lame public torture as culture theme when there's bodies to bury and a town to rebuild; we are not given any more history of the invasion and state of the earth beyond a mild reference to Terra forming. Its sad that my addiction to Sci-fi will compel me to watch one more episode before moving on to more entertaining futuristic action and thought provoking pastures. And yes, I like my gratuitous sex and violence more than needless dribble that does not advance the plot but week 2 of this abomination of a travesty of a farce was extremely short on delivery.
The traitors and saboteurs of the town are known to us but what we don't know is the detailed history of how the earth came to be populated by multiple alien species nor are we privy to the wars and action that created this world. The town is referred to as a good place to live which is crazy talk as its really just a slum with criminals and a few non-criminals living together under the constant threat of the outside world and...we don't really know what.
There is nothing redeeming about this town except for a couple pretty faces and the loan shark's wife Stahma Tarr (Jaime Murray) who is the only one other than the missing Mia that you cannot take your eyes of while on screen. For week 2 she is the show and the only one worth watching for her potent seductive femme fatal package of voice, cunning, and looks. It didn't hurt that she had a faux nude scene and an incestuous full body hug with her young adult son.
Mia Kirshner is the hottest lady on the show and the only female with a sex scene in the pilot and she didn't even get any facetime in week 2.
For week 1, it was bad form to kill off the sheriff and have no one answer for the crime. We saw who did it, we saw who he worked for (Graham Greene), and it was all glossed over while fast tracking in a new keeper of the peace. The series lost a lot of credibility with that scene transition.
The combat special effects looks like they were taken right off the video game; which isn't that bad a thing as it made for a climatic battle that's relatively rare for a TV series not named Spartacus. Looks like future episodes will have a touch of Total Recall's Alien artifact mystery.
Hairdo U (2002)
Give me that Soundtrack
The movie was only watchable in parts, but those parts made me laugh, and the soundtrack make me dance. I must obey, and laugh when it's funny and dance when the beat is kicking so I can't write this movie off. I love the split scene with the camera on rollers rotating between the ladies and guys in the beauty parlor busting on the sexes, gays, and whatever. If it ain't politically incorrect, what's the point!! Video and sound quality was poor except for the final walk off which had an awesome soundtrack for each beauty schools examples. For that reason alone, I'm writing this and SEARCHING FOR THE SOUNDTRACK, so hook me up if you can find it!!!
