Sunshine (2007) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

None.

Violence & Gore

Two guys are shown in fist-fights/wrestling a couple of times.

A man is found dead (committed suicide). We see his wrists slit and a lot of blood on the floor.

A woman is stabbed in the back by a buzzing scalpel (unseen, camera was on her face). The wound is not shown, just some blood on her clothing and hands.

A man is slashed across the stomach with a buzzing scalpel and it bleeds, the wound is not shown clearly, but his clothing and hands show blood.

A man has his legs crushed and it bleeds under water/liquid. This scene is fairly painful to watch.

A man with heavy burns has the skin torn off his arm, exposing muscles and tendons.

The violence is pretty much PG-13. It was the language that caused the R rating.

Profanity

standard F-words. Plus milder language.

None.

Several people are shown dying by being burnt by the sun, one freezes and one suffocates/freezes in space. Another is murdered and there is a suicide. There are also fires and explosions, and a scary mad man. All scenes showing the mad man are blurry/disorienting and fairly disturbing.

The film is extremely tense throughout.

Note: In Australia the MA rating is due to the short video in the special features called Dad's Dead. Sunshine (the main feature) is actulley rated M.
