Gert accepts to comment the mayor's go-cart grand prix. Alberto, Van Leemhuizen and Octaaf eagerly register as participants, bitterly determined to deny each-other victory. Snackbar seller Friede Kroket is denied participation as female, but enters disguised as a black leather biker. The men ruin each-other's chances.

The mayor and Van Leemhuyzen organize an Egyptian exposition, starring a mummy, but just that is missing from the sarcophagus. Alberto is furious when he's denied the part of fake mummy, paid for with 5 cream cakes, because he could barely fit in the coffin. So he dresses up as a cursed mummy to steal the cakes. Gert catches on and retorts.

Hearing his wealthy rival Jean-Louis frequently gives Marlene rich presents, Gert spent his modest savings on a diamond ring for her. feeling uneasy as there have been thieves reported in town, Gert tells actually more scared Samson to guard the ring. Inspired by a spy novel, regular visitor Van Leemhuizen insists on a complex plan: unsuspecting Samson and barbed wire guard the actually empty jewel box, the ring is hidden in the fridge, in a mayo jar. While both are away, the airhead snack bar owner rushes in to 'borrow' a jar, her own being empty and the shop closed that day. Passing by the meanwhile unattended snack-bar, 'spy' Van Leemhuizen hid in the trash-bin to guard it. Gert discovers his ring missing, calls the mayor who brings the police and thus causes a false arrest.

The mayor has allowed van Leemhuizen to start selling cauliflower in the town-hall. After he scares Gert, who came to buy one to prepare Marlena, by masquerading as a talking cabbage, the mayor is inspired to lure others there who they believe to deserve getting a prank revenged. Gert however works out the truth.

On animals day, Gert treats Samson to pancakes and take shim testing the remote control boat Marlene sent as a gift. Octaaf dresses in a flashy captain's suit, boasting about the sailing yacht he just inherited from a great uncle. In order to sail it, the mayor, Van Leemhuyzen and Alberto muster as sailors and stand a grueling training. Gert signs for a postal delivery to Octaaf, accidentally wets it and is so amused to discover the content that he can't resist mounting a town square show.

Gert has made a painting titled "woman with confetti". Marlène's friend, gallery owner Eugenie comes judge it, but is held up by a flat tire. Van Leemhuyzen keeps dressing up as cop, fireman and lady to scare the mayor, Gert and Alberto, but nobody enjoys his pranks. Gert prepares a revenge, which backfires, yet also helps Gert.

Samson is sick, so everybody brings him grapes, which Albert eats. The fries stand keeper is jealous, thinking everybody forgot her birthday, while in fact the gang prepares a surprise party for her. So he pretends to be sick too, but Gert finds out and devises a fitting medical scam.

The town-folk cue up eagerly, even using tricks, to visit the new 'laughing boot', a combination of tickling and jokes, however clumsily set up by Octaaf. The mayor advises it as last resort when the ministerial delegate visits him, complaining he can't laugh about anything anymore. Every trick in the booth fails, but then his luck turns.

The mayor panics because Alberto, Octaaf and Frida are all out of town just on the day regional shopping guide researcher Van Druk comes to test the businesses in town. Gert thinks up a solution: Van Leemhuizen must impersonate each of the three entrepreneurs, in disguises. Despite mastering their mannerisms, it proves easier said then done without routine on their jobs.

It's the visiting ministerial delegate's birthday and the mayor is determined to impress him with a wristwatch as lavish gift. On top of preparing refreshment, which the mayor keeps ruining, Van Leemhuyzen is ordered to collect it, wrapped, from Gert, who is flat out too. So it gets switched with Samson's gift for his canine friend, a blue marker. To cover up, Van Leemhuyzen pretends it's a magic marker, which turns blue everything someone draws with it.

Gert, the mayor and the ministerial delegate are not amused that most town-folk and even Samson constantly plays computer games. As this shuts down town life, the authorities issue a two weeks gaming ban and confiscation of the consoles. Alberto, Van Leemhuizen and Octaaf pretend to form a Classical band rehearsing in Gert's basement. Gert finds out about them and more cheating, which inspires an amendment.

Famous singer Wendy is about to do a sold-out concert in town. First however she wants to have a rest incognito. The mayor promised to help her, but the secretary, who was to help by bringing takeaway, spills the beans to fans like Gert and Alberto, who beleaguer the town hall for autographs.

The mayor of Lenigem challenges Gert's town to a rope pulling context. Given his opponent's dwarf-size, the mayor assumes his gang it will be a walkover. Alas, when the 'enemy' team arrives at the fries stand, his four mates prove athletic Giants. The gang panics and starts exercising, which only exhausts them, but for once gluttony, not Alberto's, combines with competitive spirit to save them.

The mayor's niece Graciella brings her baby Celle to mind, but he dumps it on Gert. The shop is making an amateur commercial video for baby food, but it's too dull using a baby. Seeking help at Gert's, Octaaf finds the baby and borrows it, but Gert isn't in and his note not seen. Gert seeks help to hide the baby's absence while his mates look for it frantically, but the mayor soon catches on.

Gert bakes waffles to distract himself from Marlène spending time with his rival Jean-Louis, but Samson stupidly keeps mentioning her. Alberto wanders by and steals their waffles, sleep-walking, as he does all over town. Gert follows him and discovers it's a scam to steal free food ad lib. So Gert sets a trap to lure and 'cure' the sneaky glutton.

Eugène Van Leemhuyzen got a new bicycle for his birthday, but won't let anyone touch it, even he hasn't ridden it yet. Gert gets to mind it but can't resist a ride, which ends in a crash. Unable to afford the repairs, he and Samson dress up as Jacky and Blacky, a pair of cleaners. When the owner panics about his missing bike, the mayor, inspired by a detective novel, imposes himself as incompetent sleuth, actually slowing down the search for the truth.

The town is infested with buzzing, stinging mosquitoes. After Gert notices that the bugs disappear where Van Leemhuyzen practices his now hobby, 'playing' the trumpet, the unmelodious artist becomes so wanted that the mayor and Alberto even bribe him to play in town-hall viz. the barbershop. Later, Gert discovers it's not the trumpet.

After Alberto sold bald Octaaf a fake hair growing potion, Gert advices to pull another prank as revenge. Inspired by "The Invisible Man", the gang pretends a fake 'experimental' potion made Alberto invisible. They forgot to enlist the mayor, but after he spills the beans the story is refined by claiming the potion works only a short while and making Alberto pay for it.

A food magazine's reporter is to come to town to inspects potential candidates for the national (best fries stand' title. Gert and Samson agree to help the local Frieda Kroket to pimp the place by acting as waiting staff, but she refuses to serve the regulars until the reporter is gone. Alberto and the mayor each pose as him i disguise but are found out. Gert now assumes the next customer must be Van Leemhuyzen in disguise, but he's baking his own fries in town hall.

Gert reads in the paper about a wave of thefts in town. The mayor gets the news from the ministerial delegate, who also enlists him for 'operation night-owl', which means they prove as masked robbers how unsafe homes and businesses are,n videotape themselves and take something as proof. They succeed at Gert's and Alberto's, but by that time Van Leemhuizen, acting as mayor, has followed Gert's advice to send out the police. The robbing owls are caught, the loot recuperated and their hard to believe story is questioned.

Gert successfully pretends to be the ministerial delegate announcing Modest will be congratulated on his long hoped for election as mayor of the year. The moral butt of the prank swears revenge, and Van Leemhuyzen comes up with a plan. Helped by Alberto, they pretend a great wizard, plaid by the disguised mayor, organizes a magic school, so 'graduate' Gert will embarrass himself afterward. But Gert and Samson soon smell a rat.

The mayor has lost a bet against his Ledegem colleague Paaltjes whose town has more inhabitants. The looser has to eat a big bowl of Brussels sprouts. Ever helpful Gert suggests a way out of that culinary horror: pretending to have lost his mind after an 'accidental' knock on the head. The mayor now pretends to be an ape, and Gert suggests the others should do the same to help him recover. The arrival of the ministerial delegate has surprising consequences, while Paaltjes invoke the bet clause that any mayoral substitute is also bound.

After Van Leemhuyzen reads up on ghosts, the mayor and Gert ridicule him for suggesting poltergeists exist and pull scary pranks. Shortly after, in both Gert's home and the town-hall strange noises are heard and things get messed up. Now both show interest in his book, even ask him to hold a séance.

Gert and his neighbors are fed up because the mayor fails to do his job anymore, such as seeing the broken-up street gets repaired. They find out the root-cause is heartache because he never had a lover and dreams of a wife. So Gert suggests contact-ads in press and local radio, but nobody turns up. To cheer the mayor up, Gert and a mate cross-dress as fake candidates.

Gert has eagerly accepted to sell ice-cream as fund-raiser for Marlène's ballet school. However she also organizes sweepstakes, for which the mayor was to provide the prizes, but in his absence when she calls Van Leemhuizen promises to take over and while checking on local enterprises to donate suggests to the fries seller to switch to ice-cream during the present heath wave. Gert ignores the box the mayor drop off in his absence contains the prizes, and uses them to attract clients, to which his competitor retorts.
