Despite the disappointing reviews of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, one character gave a peak moment in the series for the fandom. Yvonne Chapman played Avatar Kyoshi, a past Avatar two reigns before Aang and the Last Earthbender, in the series. Kyoshi had a more prominent role than in the animated series, which only featured her in four episodes during its three-season run.

Warning! The following piece contains Spoilers for Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 1.
The long gestating live-action TV adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has finally arrived on Netflix after years of build-up and fanfare. This new series aims to please fans of the beloved animated original and show that the franchise is in better hands than it was with the M. Night Shyamalan movie; while also bringing in a new audience more familiar with Netflix action dramas.
As such, while 2024’s Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the same plot beats as the original show’s Book 1, many have been expanded, condensed, combined, remixed or some combination of the four, while others have been removed altogether. To properly break down these changes, we’ll need to look at all eight episodes individually to see what’s changed and what’s stayed the same. Without further ado, let’s begin.

This article contains spoilers for Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender episode 2.
Everyone loves Zuko. Avatar: The Last Airbender’s villain turned emo boy turned hero has one of the greatest character arcs in animation, if not all of television history. Starting as the bitter, vengeful nemesis to Avatar Aang, Zuko hoped that if he could capture the Avatar for his father, he’d finally be able to regain his honor. This single-minded approach meant that through much of the show’s first season, Zuko was the main villain. He was willing to burn the world down if it meant accomplishing his goal and that made him a genuine threat.
The Netflix live-action series, though largely faithful to the source material, makes a massive error in not understanding this key part of Zuko’s character early on. Season 1 episode 2 of the Netflix series, “Warriors” which adapts season 1 episode 4 of the original series,...

Playing a tank in WoW Classic has historically been something of a nightmare. Everyone needs a good tank, but playing a tank in vanilla WoW isn’t necessarily an enjoyable experience. That problem has always been amplified by the relative lack of viable tanking options in the base game. We hope you like playing Warrior and casting Sunder Armor.
So while the recent Season of Discovery update’s changes to WoW‘s various Dps classes are certainly welcome, it’s the changes to the game’s tanks that are already proving to be one of the update’s most enjoyable surprises. Not only do you finally have more than one viable tanking option for the early part of the game, but some of those tanking options are…well, fun to play.
Before we dive into that, though, here are a few things to keep in mind:

As word spread of contract talks resuming between the striking Writers Guild and the AMPTP, striking SAG-AFTRA members continued with their pickets on Friday morning outside film and television studio addresses in New York City.
Near Union Square in Manhattan, about four dozen marchers formed a picket line that floated between Netflix and neighboring Warner Bros. Discovery offices.
Naomi Watts, F. The hottest musical writer of recent years will reportedly be adapting the 1979 film, The Warriors, into a stage musical. Can You Dig It? The cult Walter Hill film is a popular urban grit fairy tale that tells of a night amongst the many number of gang factions in New York City. The movie was based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Sol Yurick and illustrated by Frank Modell. Many character actors were involved with the production in their younger days, including James Remar, who currently can be seen in Oppenheimer, David Patrick Kelly, Mercedes Ruehl, and Lynne Thigpen.
Variety now reports that a source close to the subject has confirmed that Lin-Manuel Miranda is in the works to adapt the movie into a stage musical. The film isn’t exactly West Side Story, but it does involve rivalry between street gangs. The plot of both the film and...

Walter Hill's 1979 cult action thriller "The Warriors" is a favorite among film fans, adapting Sol Yurick's 1965 novel of the same name into an addicting tale about a group of rival gangs in New York City all trying to track down and take out a group known as the Warriors after they're framed for the killing of a powerful gang leader named Cyrus who had been attempting to unite the different groups. The Warriors, miles from home in the Bronx, attempt to make it back to their turf on Coney Island, as the various groups try to kill them once they enter each new territory. Hill's film is as gripping as it is gritty, but Yurick's novel is an even bleaker examination of gang culture and urban rot. So of course, it's only fitting that "The Warriors" would become the subject of a large-scale musical theatre adaptation.

The conflict between nature and nurture has been a prevalent discourse in literature since bygone era, and the anime scene is no exception in this regard. More often than not, shounen narratives introduce the quintessential ‘chosen one’ protagonist representing nature as opposed to the skill honed to perfection, a product of circumstance rivaling nature, where nature’s dominance will prevail irrefutably. The first part of Season two of Netflix’s Baki Hanma brings out a subversive take on the trope, which is either a result of the self-aware mockery of the shounen genre or a blatant effort to take the over-the-top nature too seriously, and we are betting on the first possibility.
The previous season of Baki Hanma had established the greatness of the Hanma bloodline by introducing Yujiro Hanma, aka the Ogre, as the strongest person in the world and his son, Baki, as the strongest high schooler. Due to unknown reasons,...

After years of paying the bills with commercial gigs and extra work, by the mid ’80s, Robert Townsend was making a decent living performing in comedy clubs and appearing in small roles in big movies like “A Soldier’s Story,” “American Flyers,” and Walter Hill’s action-musical extravaganza “Streets of Fire.” Most of his auditions, however, were still for stereotypical roles as pimps, slaves, and gangbangers; his agent told him that Hollywood only made one decent Black film a year, and “A Soldier’s Story” was it for 1984.
Frustrated by the lack of opportunities, Townsend and Keenan Ivory Wayans created their own by co-writing the movie industry satire “Hollywood Shuffle,” which Townsend directed and self-financed on savings and credit cards. The 1987 comedy —now part of the Criterion Collection — stands alongside “Stranger Than Paradise,” “She’s Gotta Have It,” and “sex, lies, and videotape” as a touchstone of the ’80s independent film movement, and...

Dying Light 2 doesn’t quite offer the rich array of complicated choices that some hoped it might, but when it comes to choosing between the game’s two main factions (the Peacekeepers and Survivors), most players will probably have a lot of questions about which one is “best.”
The very short and frustratingly neutral answer to that question is that there is no runway “best” faction in Dying Light 2. Each offers its own rewards, and because your faction choice only has a relatively minimal impact on the overall story, your decision will likely come down to which faction’s rewards you prefer to receive and which one you prefer to join from a role-playing perspective.
That being the case, here’s a quick look at how to increase your faction reputation, what the benefits of joining and aiding a certain faction are, and, finally, which faction is the right one for you.

50 Cent Reveals How He Got Eminem to Do ‘Bmf’ Series After ‘Terrible Experience’ on ‘8 Mile’ (Video)
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is launching his new Starz series “Bmf” (formerly known as “Black Mafia Family”) later this month, a project that marks his Bff Eminem’s first on-screen role of significance since 2002’s “8 Mile.”
So how did 50 convince Marshall Mathers to appear on the Starz series in the part of White Boy Rick, a casting first reported by TheWrap, when Em is clearly more into music than acting at this point?
“What did you say? Because he does almost nothing,” Jimmy Kimmel asked 50 Cent on Thursday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show.
“I actually directed the episode that he’s in. I called him. I put pressure on him, Jimmy,” 50 said in his most intimidating voice.
“Because he did ‘8 Mile’ and it was a huge hit and he was great in it, and then he was like, ‘Ok, that’s it, I’m done,'” the ABC late-night show added.

We were this close to getting a Marvel TV show featuring Squirrel Girl, and it could’ve been one of their most heartfelt adventures.
“Back in 2017, Marvel started developing New Warriors, another Marvel superhero series centered on a team of young adults, with the cable network Freeform. Though the project never made it past the pilot stage and had been officially shuttered by 2019, showrunner Kevin Biegel (Cougar Town) is finally opening up about what was meant to be.”

Will Dexter be able to redeem itself from the disappointment of the previous series finale?
“The beloved series starring Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, forensic technician by day and avenging serial killer by night, was on a downward slope in later seasons, but truly fumbled the finale by killing off fan-favorite character Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) and seeing Dexter abandon his son Harrison to be a lumberjack in a remote town.

When it was announced that Nintendo would be holding a 50-minute Nintendo Direct, it was pretty much assumed that The Legend of Zelda would be involved in some capacity. Given that this year is the 35th Anniversary of the legendary IP, it was a perfectly sound assumption. Well, it looks like our assumptions were correct. […]

Video games based on movies have a long history of being terrible. But there are a few licensed games that don’t just ride the coattails of successful films, they actually expand and add to them. Here are 12 video games that picked up the torches for stories started on film.
“The Thing” (1982)
John Carpenter’s 1982 horror movie finds a group of scientists trapped in an Antarctic research facility with an alien threat that takes over and imitates them. The film ends with awesome ambiguity: MacReady (Kurt Russell) and Childs (Keith David) staring each other down, neither sure if the other is actually a horrific alien in disguise. Though “The Thing” got a 2011 prequel, there was no answer to the 1982 movie’s final question on film.
“The Thing” (2002)
The video game answered that question when American soldiers return to the camp to find out what happened and face off lots more aliens on the way.

Close-Up is a feature that spotlights films now playing on Mubi. Valentina Pedicini's Faith is exclusively showing on Mubi starting December 2, 2020 in the Undiscovered series.A pulsing techno beat. Strobing lights. A voice, demanding movement. And bodies, bodies, bodies. Sweaty, exhausted, ecstatic. Valentina Pedicini’s Faith opens with what could be a club sequence, driven by rhythm and entranced with the physicality of its subjects. As the viewer has been made aware by a brief introduction, the voice commanding the room is that of a kung fu master, and the room is a gym in a monastery, inhabited by a religious community called Warriors of Light. Pedicini’s stylistic choice to introduce them in such a surprisingly earthly way is undeniably bold, but she’s not interested in mere shock value. Rather, her approach is a testament to the idiosyncrasies of the group as a documentary subject, and to...

When people tend to think of Central Asian cinema, regardless of genre, many would immediately conjure up images of the region’s vast steppes, striking awe in the eyes of many thanks to gifted cinematographers bringing the landscape to life, rendering its characters insignificant and enveloped by the expansive beauty. Many would tend to think of vivid colourisation or striking monochromes, with every pigment popping onto the screen in a dazzling display ripe for High Definition or even 4K. As far as the length and breadth of the region’s historical dramas and epics are concerned, these elements are translated into the costume and production design too, replicated with a historical accuracy usually akin to more famous Chinese epics. Given the magnitude of legends surrounding such a figure as Tomiris, a warrior queen who, depending on which account you believe, defeated King Cyrus II at a battle near the Syr...

As with most musou games based on anime, I don’t know much about the source material, but I absolutely love smacking around hordes of enemies using a colorful assortment of different characters and weapons. And that’s why I’m absolutely head-over-heels in love with One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4. In terms of genre execution, few can match the excitement and enjoyment I experienced in both the admittedly confusing story mode and the so-called “treasure log” campaign. And while I still couldn’t care less about Monkey D. Luffy and his merry band of misfits, I’m rather bummed that I’m sitting here writing about Pirate Warriors 4 instead of, you know, actually playing Pirate Warriors 4. Even with the astronomical number of high-profile releases currently on the horizon across all consoles in the coming months, I have a feeling that the latest One Piece offering will consume a huge chunk of my time.

I vividly remember the first time I laid eyes on a Warriors-branded hack-and-slash game in a college dorm room over a decade ago. Perhaps that setting—the spartan take on 50s mid-modern architecture and the Milkis cans strewn about, promising “a new feeling of soda beverage”—played some part in forming my opinions about that meat-grinder of a game where you cut down dozens of enemies, often human beings, with a single button press. Cards on the table: I didn’t like what I saw then, and I especially don’t like it now, yoked to The Legend of Zelda series in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.
Even without that burden of a title, I keep coming back to the word “definitive.” The word was likely meant to designate this particular port as terminal. Members of the rock band Imagine Dragons now own a stake in competitive gaming company ReKTGlobal and co-own Las Vegas-based esports team Rogue alongside musician Steve Aoki, ReKTGlobal announced Tuesday.
Imagine Dragons is no stranger to the esports scene. It wrote and performed the song “Warriors” in 2014 for the “League of Legends” World Championships in Seoul. Band members Daniel Platzman and Wayne Sermon are apparently longtime gamers, and they want to become more active in the esports community.
“We love gaming and esports and have been looking for new ways to contribute to this community for a long time — but we never found the right fit until now,” said Imagine Dragons manager Mac Reynolds. “We expect to see esports continue its rapid growth internationally, and we think Rogue and ReKTGlobal are the partners who will help make our hometown of Las Vegas the premiere team and gaming event destination.”
