Witness (1985) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Rachael (Kelly McGillis) takes a sponge bath where she stands up and faces a man at the door, her breasts are visible.

Violence & Gore

A man's throat is visibly sliced and blood spurts out of the wound,

a man is shot and as he slides down a wall blood is seen spilling down the wall.

a fistfight takes place and a man's nose is broken causing lots of blood to spill out.

A man is suffocated by falling corn kernals (looks like he dies allergically, this scene goes on for quite some time).

Book is slightly bloody after being shot and we later see the wound (not graphic)

Some one steps in a pile of cow droppings.

On a more bleak but one might note this is proper: An Amish child burps while eating lunch, and the mother replies good appetite.

Profanity

There are 7 "f" words in the film and there might be one or two more.

No more than a dozen F-words and a handful of some other phrases. Its also questionable as there's an F-word written in a bathroom stall. The letters U C K are clearly seen, but the first looks more like an S. Regardless although this word is shown several times in a scene, we mainly just see C K. Really at only one point do we see the whole word and even then its difficult to make and that's going frame-by-frame!!!!

Mild and infrequent.

This film isn't exactly happy, but it isn't dark.

Viewers might want to know: A child witnesses a murder and has to be protected. People make fun of the Amish rubbing ice cream on a guy's face and smacking their horse. A guy dies from falling corn (apparently an allergic reaction)
