Now, as the new year creeps closer, fans are itching to know what they can expect to see next, and HBO has kindly provided a few answers.
During a press preview Thursday morning, Bloys confirmed “House of the Dragon” Season 2 would return in the summer of 2024. The series was able to continue filming during the SAG and WGA strikes due to its UK-based union contracts, though the extensive post-production work still means it will be nearly two years between when the first season premiered and the second season is released.

With his sumptuous erotic crime thriller The Handmaiden striking a chord not only in his native nation of South Korea where it amassed an impressive nearly $32 million, but also the United States, where it picked up over $2 million, Park Chan-wook has now settled on his next project. It’ll find him returning to the English language, but unlike Stoker, it will be for television.
He will direct a six-part adaptation of the John le Carré novel The Little Drummer Girl for BBC TV and AMC, according The Daily Mail. The Oldboy director has also already found his star in Florence Pugh, who gave a stellar breakout performance in this summer’s Lady Macbeth. The late-70s, early-80s story finds Pugh’s character playing an actress who is recruited by an Israeli spy to become a double agent and take out a leader of a Palestinian terrorist group.

Park Chan-wook isn’t done adapting English novels. After bringing Sarah Waters’ “Fingersmith” to the silver screen in the form of last year’s masterful “The Handmaiden,” the Korean auteur is now set to direct a six-part adaptation of John le Carré’s “The Little Drummer Girl” starring Florence Pugh.

The news comes courtesy of the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, who adds that the BBC TV project begins shooting next year. Pugh has won acclaim for her lead performance in William Oldroyd’s “Lady Macbeth,” itself a literary adaptation; she’ll next appear opposite Liam Neeson in “The Commuter.” Le Carré’s novels have been adapted for the screen more than a dozen times, including the films “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” “The Constant Gardener,” and “A Most Wanted Man.”

We’re still recovering from Park Chan-Wook‘s dazzling, audacious “The Handmaiden“, which hit cinemas last year. As for what the director might do next, things have been pretty quiet, but word has emerged that Park Chan-Wook is gearing up to join the Peak TV craze.
The filmmaker has signed up to direct a six-part adaptation of John le Carre’s spy novel “The Little Drummer Girl.” Florence Pugh, who recently earned plenty of acclaim for her titular performance in “Lady Macbeth,” will lead the miniseries that follows an aspiring actress who is lured into the world of terrorists and espionage.

One of the most deeply affecting films thus far this year is Justin Kurzel‘s dark drama Snowtown. Telling the true story of a serial killer in South Australian, the director showed astounding talent in conveying a grim tone and I can’t picture a more perfect match than what his next project is looking to be.
Variety reports he’s jumped on board an adaptation of John le Carre‘s Our Kind of Traitor, with a script written by Drive‘s Hossein Amini. The novel, following a Russian money launderer who is looking to hide out in UK, is le Carre’s most recent, just seeing a releas two years ago. With the original story set in London, Paris, Moscow and Tangiers, there’s no telling where the production will actually head, but it will certainly mark a huge jump for Kurzel.

Author John le Carré looks set to make an onscreen cameo in Tomas Alfredson's upcoming film adaptation of his classic Cold War novel "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy".
According to The Guardian, le Carré will make his screen appearance standing next to a spy who is dressed as Lenin at a party. The cameo marks only the second time he has popped up in a work adapted from one of his books, the previous being 1984's "The Little Drummer Girl".
Asked about the inevitable comparisons that will be made between Gary Oldman's performance in the upcoming film and that of Alec Guinness in the same role in the classic late 70's mini-series based on the property, the author thinks Oldman has nothing to worry about.
"Through my very personal prism, it is a triumph. And if people write to me and say, 'How could you let this happen to poor Alec Guinness,...

Well it looks like another John le Carré novel is about to be adapted into a feature film. In 1965, Martin Ritt directed the first film adaptation of a John le Carré novel, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. In 1966, Sidney Lumet directed The Deadly Affair. In 1969, Frank Pierson directed The Looking Glass War. In 1984, George Roy Hill directed The Little Drummer Girl. In 1990, Fred Schepisi directed The Russia House. In 2001, John Boorman directed The Tailor of Panama. In 2005, Fernando Meirelles directed The Constant Gardener, and just last year it was announced that Peter Morgan and John le Carré were writing a cinematic adaptation of the novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
Now according to THR, director Anton Corbijn (The American) will bring us the ninth adaptation. Corbijn has signed on to direct A Most Wanted Man from a screenplay by Andrew Bovell (Edge of Darkness). The tale is loosely...

George Roy Hill, who won an Oscar for directing Paul Newman and Robert Redford in the 1973 box office hit The Sting, died Friday in Manhattan of complications from Parkinson's disease; he was 81. Hill also directed Newman and Redford in their first film together, the hugely popular comedy-western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), which received Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Director, and won four, including one for the song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head." Hill started his directing career during television's Golden Age in the `50s, helming such live dramas as A Night to Remember and Judgment at Nuremberg. In 1957 he moved to Broadway, directing acclaimed productions of Look Homeward, Angel and Tennessee Williams' Period of Adjustment, which later became his directorial film debut in 1962, starring a young Jane Fonda. Hill garnered attention for the 1964 Peter Sellers comedy The World of Henry Orient, and after taking on big budget films Hawaii and Thoroughly Modern Millie, cemented his status as a breezy, iconoclastic director with Butch Cassidy as well as the The Sting, which received ten Oscar nominations and won seven. Known for taking on challenging material (and defying studio control), Hill also tackled two difficult novel adaptations . Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) and The World According to Garp (1982) . as well as the `70s comedies The Great Waldo Pepper (starring Redford) and Slap Shot (starring Newman). Hill enjoyed later acclaim with the gentle 1979 comedy A Little Romance, starring Laurence Olivier and a 14-year-old Diane Lane, but ended his career quietly with 1984's The Little Drummer Girl and the 1988 Chevy Chase comedy Funny Farm. Hill is survived by his former wife, Louisa Horton, as well as two sons, two daughters, and twelve grandchildren. --Prepared by IMDb staff...
