As “The Masked Singer” panelist Nicole Scherzinger returns to London’s West End this month, starring as Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard, the show has found a suitable substitute: Singer/songwriter Rita Ora. Ora, who is no stranger to the format as a panelist for “The Masked Singer UK,” will take the U.S. “Masked Singer” panelist chair alongside Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg and Robin Thicke throughout Season 11, now shooting (and set to air in midseason).
Of course, Scherzinger will still be seen this fall on Season 10 of “The Masked Singer,” which taped earlier this year and returned with a special episode this past Sunday (featuring the unmasking of Demi Lovato). “The Masked Singer” returns for its regular Season 10 on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. Et.

The Masked Singer made its American debut in 2019 after getting its start in South Korea. The show, which features celebrities singing songs while wearing head-to-toe costumes, hosts panelists who interpret clues in order to try and guess the singers’ identities.
The show has been a huge hit since its premiere, winning or being nominated for numerous awards. But concealing the singers’ identities until each reveal takes an extraordinary amount of effort. This includes some rather bizarre rules.

Fox’s The Masked Singer Season 9 has already unmasked 10 singers (and counting). And viewers can’t wait to see who else hits the stage. Episode 7, ’80s Night, features three new masks, and at least one singer will remove their mask. Unfortunately, some fans struggle with the format in season 9. Here’s why.

The Masked Singer Season 9 continues with the show’s original concept. Two or three new masked celebrities hit the stage each night, and at least one of the competitors unmasks on stage. The judges take a few moments to ask questions and give their guesses before the singer removes their mask and reveals their identity.

There will be some changes when Season 8 of Fox’s The Masked Singer premieres later this month.
Under the new format announced today by the network, each episode of the celebrity singing contest will feature the usual knock-out performances by elaborately disguised celebrities, but for the first time, only one contestant will move on from each episode. The studio audience will vote for their favorite, and the singer with the least amount of votes will unmask mid-show. That celebrity will get a front row seat in the Masked Singer VIP section to watch the rest of the competition and the second unmasking, and for the first time, won’t have to to wait to find out what celebrity they were competing against.

Singing reality competition shows are all over American television. But “I Can See Your Voice” adds a unique layer to the format. “I Can See Your Voice,” hosted by comedian Ken Jeong, actress Cheryl Hines, and Singer Adrienne Bailon-Houghton is a perfect blend of singing competition and guessing game show, complete with celebrity hosts and musical guests. On this music game show, the singers aren’t the ones competing. Instead, competitors must use their eyes and ears to determine who among the singers can actually sing and who is tone-deaf.
After the success of shows such as “The Masked Singer” and “The Voice,” mystery singing shows have taken fans by storm. “I Can See Your Voice” is no exception. Fox bosses have defended the casting of Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s former lawyer who helped spread baseless lies that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen, on The Masked Singer.
Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment and Specials, Fox Entertainment, said he had “absolutely no regrets” on the move.
“The Masked Singer is all about delivering jaw-dropping moments, which is exactly what [we] accomplished whether it was on set or with the viewers at home,” he added.
Wade joked about Deadline’s scoop on the casting. “My only regret or surprise was obviously that the reveal was spoiled but kudos to [Deadline], please just don’t do it again.
The former Mayor of New York was unmasked on the reality singing competition on April 20, months after Deadline revealed that his casting had already caused consternation among some of the show’s judging panel – particularly Ken Jeong, who immediately crossed his arms and walked off the stage.

“It surprises us all that you’re here on The Masked Singer,” host Nick Cannon said as Donald Trump’s former lawyer was revealed as Jack in the Box during Wednesday’s episode.
“This is definitely something I never would have guessed,” added judge Robin Thicke.
There has been much controversy surrounding Giuliani’s appearance on the Fox reality competition series after his participation was first revealed by Deadline in February.
The reaction on the show to the man who helped Trump spread his baseless claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen was an interesting one.
There were genuine gasps and looks of shock from the audience as well as a stunned Cannon when the mask came off, and judge Ken Jeong immediately crossed his arms.
Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger looked confused and asked Jeong, “Is that Robert Duvall?” a reference to Thicke’s earlier guess.

The Masked Singer returned to Fox for its seventh season with a slew of good, bad and cuddly contestants.
“Welcome to the premiere you’ve been waiting for,” said host Nick Cannon. “It’s the most bonkers season yet.”
You may have already assumed that given that the reality competition series has its most controversial character yet lined up – Deadline revealed earlier this month that Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who propagated the lie that the 2020 election was stolen, caused judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke to walk off stage after he was unmasked.
Giuliani, however, does not feature in the season opener, you’ll have to wait for that.
[Spoiler Alert] Tonight’s evictee, dressed as McTerrier, was Duff Goldman, pastry chef and star of Food Network series including Ace of Cakes and Duff Till Dawn.
Goldman, who sang Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend,” had quite the eventful episode.

The Masked Singer is the latest TV series to find itself recording positive Covid tests.
Los Angeles County on Monday revealed that the Fox singing competition series has recorded 12 positive tests during its production at Red Studios in Hollywood, where the show is filming.
However, production has not been impacted and has not been halted, as Deadline understands the cases mostly have been related to community exposure rather than at the workplace. Production, which kicked off in June, runs through the middle of next week.
“The safety of the entire cast and crew has been and will continue to be our No. 1 priority,” a Fox spokeswoman told Deadline. “We work closely with local and state officials and the unions to ensure we have the safest environment possible.”

Singer Lance Bass, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and “The Masked Singer” executive producer Craig Plestis are among the names behind “Unicorn Hunters,” a crowd-financing competition series now being shopped for domestic distribution.
The series centers on finding so-called “unicorn” companies — startups that reach $1 billion valuation, by attracting investors from around the world. The show’s pitch: “No one has the ability to predict which companies will ultimately become unicorns, but ‘Unicorn Hunters’ offers you a front-row seat to hear the pitch from businesses that have what it takes to become one. With ‘Unicorn Hunters,’ you ‘discover’ private startups at the same time as our panel of experts, and you get an equal shot at investing in these very promising companies before they go big.”

From celebrity cameos to out-of-the-box approaches to a host who wanted to preside over a competition series from inside a giant hamster ball, producers of reality TV series thought creatively to ramp up production mid-pandemic.
“Producers produce. They’ll find a way to get it done,” says Clay Newbill, executive producer of ABC’s “Shark Tank. “But this was different. It was difficult to produce in a landscape where the rules are constantly changing. And by rules, I don’t mean the safety protocols. One of the big twists on the “game-changing” fifth season of Fox’s “The Masked Singer” was the addition of wild cards. As producer Craig Plestis reveals during Gold Derby’s Meet the Experts: Reality TV panel (watch above), “We had the idea since Season 3 about doing wild cards, where we bring people into the game.” He continues on, “Every time our show airs I watch the feeds at night and see what they talk about. A lot of fans say, ‘What if we had a new celebrity that entered the game at the last minute?’ We kept thinking about it, pondering about it, and this was the season to do it.”
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the show was getting flooded with requests from celebs who wanted to take part, and the wild card twist allowed them to join a little bit later than the other contestants. “The fans love it,...

The news, unveiled as part of Fox’s 2021/22 schedule, comes ahead of the finale for season five, which is set to take place on May 26.
The renewal was inevitable given the success of the series and it will continue to air in the fall on Wednesday nights at 8pm, with new series Alter Ego coming in after at 9pm. The series has traditionally aired in both the start of the year, January, February and March, as well as September. Fox has not confirmed as to whether it will return in midseason as well as the fall.

Ken Jeong, a panelist on The Masked Singer, took on the role of host in Fox’s latest singing competition game show I Can See Your Voice.
Jeong, speaking at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted awards-season event, said he wanted to distinguish Fox’s latest Korean adaptation from The Masked Singer and called it more of an “emotional roller coaster” than his other job, and one that’s designed to help contestants win a “life-changing” sum of money.
The show sees contestants attempt to win a prize if they can tell the difference between the good and bad singers, without ever hearing them sing a note. Helping the contestant navigate through rounds of lip-sync challenges, comedic hidden clues and true-or-false evidence will be a panel of celebrity comedians/experts and a musical superstar.

“The Masked Singer” has been teasing a “game-changing” wild card twist all season long, and viewers will finally get to see it explained when the third episode airs Wednesday, March 24. Don’t worry — it’s not as complicated as it seems.
After Group A contestants Raccoon, Robopine, Russian Dolls and Seashell have all taken the stage, guest host Niecy Nash will introduce the first wild card costume of Season 5. Once this mystery celeb performs, they’ll be eligible to be voted out just like their fellow competitors. In other words, Raccoon, Robopine, Russian Dolls and Seashell could all advance to the next round if the new character fails to impress. Think of the wild card less like a twist and more like a late addition to the group.

“The Masked Singer” Season 5 premieres Wednesday on Fox, with 10 costumed contestants competing this time around, including the one-eyed Porcupine, a truly alarming Piglet and something called Grandpa Monster.
Check out the photos at the bottom of the page for your first looks at “The Masked Singer” Season 5 costumes Porcupine, Phoenix, Grandpa Monster, Chameleon, Russian Doll, Black Swan, Seashell, Snail, Raccoon and Piglet.
Aside from these 10, there are actually still more costumes to come — we just don’t yet know how many.
Fox has said “The Masked Singer” will start Season 5 with 10 scheduled contestants, who will be broken into two groups of five competitors (Groups A and B), and the 10 costumes listed above are part of that 10-contestant lineup.

The supply of masked celebrities apparently never ever ends. The Masked Singer is coming back for season five in less than a week with a whole new roster of singing stars, with an extra twist this time around in the form of wildcard rounds. While 10 celebs, in two groups of five, will compete normally throughout the season, other masked singers can crash rounds out of nowhere to compete for the trophy. Why? Well, it's all in the name of keeping the show new and exciting in its fifth season, according to executive producer Craig Plestis. "It just adds a freshness to the whole show," he said during Fox's Winter virtual TCA press tour. "And it just brings a whole new life to the...

6 things we learned about ‘The Masked Singer’ Season 5, including Ken Jeong’s stunning new abilities
Things are about to get wild on “The Masked Singer.” Season 5 premieres on Wednesday, March 10 at 8/7c on Fox, and with a new twist: the previously announced wild cards. These maverick crooners will shake up the competition by arriving throughout the season to try to oust a current contestant. But there’s something even more surprising afoot: Ken Jeong will actually be a good predictor! We know, shocking.
The cast and crew of Fox hit revealed Jeong’s new and improved performance Tuesday during the show’s virtual panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Here’s what else we learned about the season.
1. The wild cards won’t be at a disadvantage
You might not think it’s fair to the wild cards to come in later when the main contestants would’ve had weeks of performances and clue-dropping, but executive producer Craig Plestis assured that the...

“Look, we’re getting the message out about wearing masks, guys,” quipped judge Ken Jeong during the TCA session for Fox’s The Masked Singer. “If you want to wear a mask out in public; if you want to wear a mask on television — I mean, how better than to get the message out and [make a profit] than to wear masks!”
Dr. Ken is part of the popular “Masked” franchise as he is on The Masked Singer, which debuts its fifth season on March 10 and The Masked Dancer. When the producers asked if they were concerned about the expansion of the franchise to something like The Masked Chef or even The Masked Athlete, they had no issue because of the popularity of the existing shows. Jeong added, “The Masked Singer is the mothership — this is such an exceptional show!”
Fellow judge Robin Thicke chimed in: “The level of star power in season 5 is at another level!

After only premiering two years ago, in 2019, Fox’s “The Masked Singer” is already set to debut its fifth season. In turning out so much content so fast it hasn’t shied away from making updates, such as the addition of the Golden Ear in Season 4, in order to continue to draw large viewing audiences and inspire intense social media debates.
“It’s always about how can we make it fresh — how can we do something a little bit different but still not go off the off the format,” executive producer Craig Plestis said during a Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the show on Tuesday.
When “The Masked Singer” launches its fifth season March 10 on Fox, it comes with even more changes. First, there will be the addition of “Wildcard” performers, which will off-set the audience’s usual guessing game of who be the last performer standing. These...
