Greenwich Entertainment has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the documentary feature Kenny Scharf: When Worlds Collide. The film is slated to debut in theaters and on digital platforms across the country on April 23.
The docu, which marks the directorial debut feature from Max Basch and Malia Scharf, made its world premiere last year at SXSW. Made over 11 years, the docu takes a look at the life of artist Kenny Scharf and features interviews and rare archival footage with Scharf, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Ed Ruscha, Dennis Hopper, Yoko Ono, Kaws, Marilyn Minter, and Jeffrey Deitch.
When Scharf arrived in New York City in the early 1980s, he quickly befriended Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. This trio changed the face of the art world with their works. While Basquiat and Haring both died tragically young, Scharf lived through cataclysmic shifts in New York City and the art world.

Days after Worldview Entertainment, one of the the investors behind the much acclaimed feature Birdman, sued its ex-ceo over embezzlement, Christopher Woodrow today struck back with his own lawsuit alleging damages of potentially more than $55 million lawsuit.
“Defendants breached their fiduciary duty to Plaintiff by engaging in a plan designed to dilute and deny Plaintiff’s interest in Worldview and damaged the value of Worldview to Plaintiff,” says the wide-ranging multi-claim filing in NY State Supreme Court this morning (read it here). “By reason of the foregoing breaches of fiduciary duty, Plaintiff has been damaged in an amount in excess of $30,000,000 with the precise amount to be determined at trial.”
There’s more based on the messy and public way Woodrow’s departure from Worldview was handled earlier this year and statements the company made about him, including court allegations that he used the place as a personal bank.

There is such a thing as putting too much of one’s self into something. Wish I Was Here, the new Zach Braff film that was partially funded by Kickstarter, is sort of the kind of film you’d expect from him. Unfortunately, the movie does nothing truly innovative and a moving second half can’t save a film that’s all over the place.
Wish I Was Here is a film about the Bloom family. Aiden (Zach Braff) is a 30 something father of two who is chasing after his dream of being an actor. It’s not working out well for him however (he’s months out of his last gig, a dandruff commercial) and this is putting a strain on his family. His wife (Kate Hudson) is working a dead-end job with a creepy coworker, his two children are defiant, and his father...

Eli Roth is set to direct his first full length feature film since Hostel II, The Green Inferno, which is based on the 1980 Italian movie Cannibal Holocaust. The story follows an "idealistic student and a group of naive do-gooders who are captured by cannibalistic Indios after their plane crash lands in the Peruvian jungle."
The full cast for the film has been announced, and Roth is ready to put them to work in some crazy conditions! He will be shooting the film near a remote native village located on the Amazon river in Peru. This place has no electricity or running water. The director took a small film crew to the village to get permission to shoot there from the locals, and while they were there they showed the residents there their first movie. The movie he ended up showing them was Cannibal Holocaust, and guess what? The natives thought it was hilarious!

Some of the adventure in the field of movie making means bringing things to the screen that no one has ever seen before. Sort of like what the character of Carl Denham had in mind with King Kong. That being said, consider Eli Roth another adventurer!
Roth recently told Movieline that he’s taking a small crew to a remote village up the Amazon River that has “no electricity, no running water, nothing.” For the privilege of filming in this unseen territory, “We’re giving these people a boat," says Roth. "They have no contact with the outside world and we’re giving them a motorboat and we’re giving them medical supplies and school supplies so they’re ecstatic. The one thing they need is a boat. They were like, ‘This will literally change our lives’.”
Given that these folks had never seen a movie before, Roth arranged a screening for them of.
