Following the release of his well-received novel Our Lady of the Inferno (now available from Encyclopocalypse Publications), author Preston Fassel is taking readers back in time to further explore the seedy side of Times Square with his latest novel Beasts of 42nd Street, now available from Cemetery Dance Publications, and we've been provided with an exclusive excerpt to share with Daily Dead readers!

Charity Novella The Despicable Fantasies of Quentin Sergenov Wins Independent Publisher’s Gold Medal for Horror: "The Despicable Fantasies of Quentin Sergenov, Preston Fassel’s 2021 horror-comedy novella released to help raise funds for The Trevor Project, has won the Independent Publisher’s Gold Medal for Horror.

After reading his book Our Lady of the Inferno, I was an immediate fan of writer Preston Fassel’s work, and I’m glad we’re getting yet another widely evocative story from his genre-obsessed mind this summer. Set to release in June is The Despicable Fantasies of Quentin Sergenov, a novella that mixes together horror and Attitude-Era wrestling with important (and timely) themes involving LGBT issues.
Daily Dead recently caught up with Fassel to discuss the long journey of writing The Despicable Fantasies of Quentin Sergenov, the inspirations behind his story, creating a sympathetic monster in his titular character, and more.
And to grab a copy of Fassel’s first novel Our Lady of the Inferno, head to Amazon Here. And to pre-order a copy of The Despicable Fantasies of Quentin Sergenov, click Here.

Mark Alan Miller and his creative team at Encyclopocalypse have been bringing horror books to life with compelling audio versions, and now the company is expanding with the launch of a publishing imprint for original content and movie novelizations, including Fright Night and Re-Animator:
Press Release: Los Angeles, CA- Saturn and Rondo award-winning producer and writer Mark Alan Miller, best known for Nightbreed: The Director's Cut and Boom! Studios’ Hellraiser comics, is adding a new title to his already expansive resume: publisher.
Miller announced this week that his company Encyclopocalypse, which specializes in audio adaptations of notable works of horror literature, will be expanding into publishing books itself under a new expansion that will encompass both paperback and e-books.
The move came about partially as a result of Encyclopcoalyse acquiring the audio rights to John Skipp and Craig Spector’s novelization of Fright Night, the classic 1985 horror comedy starring Roddy McDowell and Chris Sarandon.

After showing readers the seedy and sinister side of Times Square in the 1980s with his first Fangoria Presents book, Our Lady of the Inferno, author Preston Fassel is taking us back even further in time for Beasts of 42nd Street, the second book in his "Inferno-verse."
Announced on Birth.Movies.Death., Beasts of 42nd Street takes place in 1970s New York City, where a projectionist at the Colossus Theater harbors a hellish secret: a rare movie with a horrifying power on par with the Lament Configuration from Hellraiser.
Slated for a 2020 fall release from Fangoria, here's the official synopsis for Beasts of 42nd Street (Birth.Movies.Death.):
"In the kingdom of the damned that is 42nd Street, there’s no lowlier subject than Andy Lewinski. An unrepentant junkie, voyeur, and degenerate, he’s only tolerated by the more dangerous men around him because he keeps the projectors...

With production underway on Chelsea Stardust's Satanic Panic and a movie adaptation of Preston Fassel’s Our Lady of the Inferno in development, Fangoria has exciting film projects on their upcoming slate, and they've now added another one to the macabre mix: the acton horror movie V.F.W., starring Stephen Lang and directed by Joe Begos.
Deadline reports that Begos will direct V.F.W. from a screenplay by Max Brallier and Matthew McArdle, with Lang in the starring role.
Described as "The Wild Bunch meets Night of the Living Dead," according to Deadline, V.F.W. "follows Fred and his military buddies as they must defend their local Vfw post – and an innocent teen – against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants. These Vietnam vets have been to hell and back, but this will be the longest night of their lives."

Horror favourite Fangoria magazine is to return to its pulpy roots...
Fangoria is kind of like the Ramones of horror magazines. Fun, funny, influential and completely accessible, their interviewers asked pertinent questions and the images were filled with gore, suspense and wit. Every horror fan has at least one copy, that they show, and probably a bunch buried somewhere. Quentin Tarantino has boxes of copies, I’m sure. Most covered in some kind of protective plastic like he’s preserving a dead Pharaoh for a movie he’ll never get around to making. But Fangoria Lives. Cinestate, Dallas-based entertainment company founded by movie producer Dallas Sonnier (Bone Tomahawk, Brawl In Cell Block 99) has bought the magazine, and they are set to restore it to its glory days as a print publication.
Fangoria will have a new Editor-In-Chief, film writer Phil Nobile Jr., who was Editor-At-Large for the website Birth.

I used to read Fangoria Magazine all the time as a teenager. I was always on the hunt for new and different horror films and Fangoria was always my best source. I also enjoyed all of the articles, scoops, and gory photos from the horror movie scene.
The magazine was launched in 1979 and it sold its last print run in 2015. Well, thanks to Cinestate, the multimedia company behind Bone Tomahawk, Brawl in Cell Block 99 and the upcoming remake of Puppet Master, the magazine will rise from the grave and move forward under new leadership with a quarterly print publication. The sci-fi magazine Starlog and another horror magazine Gorezone, are also part of the deal. Here's a little promo video teasing the return:

Nobody expected the late, lamented Fangoria Magazine to return from the ashes. Yesterday, a few teasers hit the web and social media. One was in the form of static-filled, dancing TV color bars. Another was a short video with a print copy of the horror rag being delivered through someone's door. In a stunning revelation today, it was revealed that Fangoria will once again grace the doorsteps of monster kids and the adults who grew up reading it. Texas-based entertainment company Cinestate has acquired all the assets and trademarks of the Fangoria brand, including the magazine, from The Brooklyn Company, and now intends to begin publishing again, just in time for Halloween.
