Met Gala veterans Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo hit this year’s cream and mossy green carpet in looks subtly inspired by their November movie adaptation of beloved Broadway musical Wicked. The subtle inspiration in question? Pink and green accents.
The more understated of the two, Grande, wore a white Loewe mother-of-pearl gown designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson. Under the lights of the carpet, the dress shimmered in pastel shades of the Wicked-themed colors. Erivo sported a Thom Browne two-piece set featuring tux details, pink petals and scattered insects, including what look to be green praying mantises. See all the 2024 Met Gala looks here.
The duo kicked off their ‘Wicked’ method dressing at the Oscars. Grande — playing the good witch Glinda — wore a bubblegum pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown. Erivo channeled her character Elphaba in a green leather Louis Vuitton dress that fashion designer Jenna Lyons and HauteLeMode...

The adventure of Guts in the Berserk manga began once again, one year after the death of its creator, Kentaro Miura. His best friend, Kouji Mori, who is also a manga creator known for works like Holyland, Jisatsutou, and Destroy and Revolution, collaborated with the artists at Studio Gaga to continue the legacy of Miura.
Guts in Berserk
Miura and Mori have been together since high school, and they have known each other for over 40 years. They both dreamed of becoming manga creators together, and Mori was the only one who knew the ending of Berserk. He is the perfect individual to complete Miura’s masterpiece, and the recent chapters that have been released by Studio Gaga prove it.
Miura’s genius is widely reflected in Berserk. The series is considered one of the best mangas of all time by many. Even Mori believed that Miura was a gifted artist,...

Michael Jackson‘s brother, Jermaine Jackson of The Jackson 5, made a bold statement about the King of Pop. Jermaine felt his brother’s life would have been saved if he had made one decision. Interestingly, it is a decision Jermaine made himself.
Michael Jackson’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, wanted him to convert to another religion
During a 2010 BBC interview quoted by Praise 102.1, Jermaine said a conversion to Islam would have saved the “Thriller” singer. “God is so powerful,” Jermaine said. “[Michael] was studying. He was reading a lot of books, because I brought him books from Saudi Arabia. I brought him books from Bahrain.”
Jermaine explained he wanted Michael to relocate to Bahrain, a small Muslim nation. “I was the one who originally put him in Bahrain because I wanted him to get out of America because it was having a cherry-picking time on my brother,” he revealed.

When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin comic book started coming out, it was a major hit for Idw Publishing, as well as a major moment in the evolution of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise overall. The comic book was written by Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, and Tom Waltz, and showed us a dark and grim future in which Michelangelo survived as the only remaining turtle. The story was enormously popular and it seems now that a live-action movie adaptation of the comic book is in the works.
The news comes after last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem proved to be a major hit, and while Mutant Mayhem was an animated feature, it doesn’t seem like The Last Ronin will go in that same direction.

Since their debut in the 1980s, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have grown into a permanent fixture in popular culture. From their catchy theme song to the four anthropomorphic turtle brothers, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael, the franchise has touched the hearts of fans of all ages.
And now, with the news of a reboot on the horizon, Paramount has confirmed to be developing a live-action, R-rated film based on the gripping comic book miniseries Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. So, who is in charge of guiding this vision?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin
To put it mildly, Zack Snyder seems like the perfect person to bring these Ninja heroes back to the big screen. His work on movies like 300 and Man of Steel mirrors his ability to create epic and thrilling battles, which would make him a great match for the turtles’ ninja skills and unique fighting styles.

Watching the extended director’s cut DVD of Kingdom of Heaven nearly 18 years after its release (and nearly 20 in the case of the film’s original theatrical run) is a curious thing. Among Ridley Scott’s many insights into what may still be his most beautiful looking historical epic to date, the director muses on the commentary track that the home media market is something of a godsend. Because even two decades ago, the modus operandi was “faster and simpler.”
“I think the value of this digital market is people are more willing or more ready to sit at home and enjoy the longer version,” Scott reflected. “Thank God for DVD.”
That long lost home market of yore really was a gift to filmmakers, and few of them benefited from it better than Scott. The British director famously achieved a kind of absolution when he was able to re-edit Blade Runner...

In “Amphetamine”, Scud's most visually polished drama about a toxic and intoxicated love between a young Australian financial executive Daniel (Thomas Price) and a straight Hong Kong jack of all trades Kafka (Byron Pang), hope is the only thing permanently absent.
Amphetamine is screening at International Film Festival Rotterdam
The melancholic Kafka is caught between working three jobs to help provide for his sick mother and a not so functional relationship with his girlfriend, who is struggling to understand his broken psyche. When she decides to break off in broad daylight in a posh bar, the boy with the sword has already caught Daniel's eye. Just to make sure we'll understand this instant crush, Scud shows us Kafka's beauty from all sides. Right at the beginning of the film, we observe him giving swimming lessons and being pestered by an elderly man who tells him “he has a body like Michelangelo's”. Soon after,...

Back in the 1990s, teenagers made up two of the biggest superhero teams on the scene. First, we had the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and even though we never really found out how old they were, their dynamic certainly offered a playful spin on the usual superhero formula, both in the live-action film franchise and the animated series. A few years later, the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" delivered a squad of super-powered teens tasked with protecting the world from an endless array of monsters. For some reason, all those monsters started with Angel Grove, where the Power Rangers resided, which seems ill-advised, but I digress.
Today, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" are still thriving. While driven by nostalgia, each franchise has also been delivering new stories in comic book form, continuing the legacy of their '90s success. That's why the pop culture clothing experts at...

As the 1970s wore on, Elvis Presley’s concerts grew increasingly confusing for audiences. While attendees were typically dedicated fans of the musician, his behavior — and the lengthy tangents he went on — were difficult to understand. During one show, Elvis paused the music to go on an extended rant about the venue’s decor.
Elvis Presley took time out of his concert to talk about decor
During a show in Las Vegas in 1974, Elvis looked around the room before commenting that he had “never liked the way this showroom looked.” He then launched into a discussion of the stage layout, the way the walls were painted, and the statues that lined the sides of the room.
“Put a spotlight on the statues on that wall,” he said, per the book Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley by Peter Guralnick. “Okay. That’s nice. I don’t know what it is,...

The fraudulent Michelangelo who performed at Mar-a-Lago isn't the only imposter version of an iconic animated anthropomorphic animal on the loose at the dawn of 2024.
As of January 1 this year, Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks's "Steamboat Willie" -- the benchmark 1928 black-and-white cartoon short featuring Mickey Mouse in his earliest form -- has officially entered the public domain. That means it's open season for anyone and everyone who wants to use that iteration of the Walt Disney Company's mascot. So, naturally, there's already an influx of horror-themed films and even video games aiming to parody the rodent's family-friendly image. (Nobody tell them that Kevin Smith basically already did that 25 years ago with the Mickey-inspired Mooby the Golden Calf in "Dogma.")
Up first? "Mickey's Mouse Trap." Directed by Jamie Bailey, the slasher film centers on Alex, a young woman who's stuck spending her 21st birthday working a late shift at...

Paramount Global lost $238 million from its streaming business this summer — and that’s a good thing.
The number is a marked improvement over recent quarters (a $424 million loss in Q2 and a $511 million loss in Q1), and quite a bit better than the market expected. Paramount executives now say they believe their streaming losses peaked last year, and that we will no longer see a (new) peak this year. Next stop: profitability?
Paramount+ added 2.7 million subscribers in the summer 2023 quarter. The core Paramount Global streaming service now has more than 63 million subs, up from 61 million at the end of June. Fast-industry leader Pluto TV no longer reports monthly active users; at the end of March, MAUs had been 80 million.
The company’s direct-to-consumer (Dtc) business posted expenses of $1.93 billion from July to September. The same line item tallied $2.1 billion in Q2 and $2 billion in Q1.
Q3 was the first full quarter of that integration.

"Barbie" made an undeniable impact on the world at large when it premiered in July. The film comes complete with a stacked cast and plenty of amazing fashion choices, but it's also notable because it's packed with Easter eggs that reference everything from cultural touchstones to hidden histories.
From the moment its first trailer dropped, the film immediately gave the internet a number of instantly iconic moments to admire, from Barbie (Margot Robbie)'s "Matrix"-esque choice between a high heel and a Birkenstock to Ken (Ryan Gosling)'s exuberant mug shot. The movie also features some less noticeable Easter eggs that show just how much its creative team - which includes the celebrated filmmaking duo Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach - paid attention to detail. Ahead, check out some of the most notable Easter eggs in the film.

The immediate fallout was off the feeds, of course, but it would not be a stretch to say they were pissed — especially America. Jonathan Groff is sharing the beautiful story of how he came out as gay to his brother, David Groff.
While speaking with Condé Nast Traveler, the 38-year-old actor and singer recalled a trip to Florence, Italy in 2008 that changed his life.
He explained why he felt compelled to open up to his brother after seeing Michelangelo‘s famous sculpture, “David.”
Keep reading to find out what he shared…
“When you turn the corner, there are rows of other unfinished sculptures by Michelangelo,” Jonathan told the outlet. “These figures are so constricted, like they’re straining to be released from the marble and fighting for air. I ached just looking at them.”
He called “David” a “perfect, liberated form” and added, “I started crying and wondered, ‘What is it about this naked man that makes me so emotional?’”
Jonathan remembered “thinking about how nobody here knew or cared about me, and...

It’s quite rare for the creator of a genre to also be the one responsible for making the most iconic entries within that genre, but I think it’s safe to say that the late, great George A. Romero remains unmatched as the master of zombified horror. Even after decades of remakes and homages like Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later, we still find ourselves going back to the classics that popularized undead brain-eating in the first place.
And with the Halloween season finally upon us, I thought that this might be a good time to look back on Romero’s spooky filmography with a definitive ranking of his ‘Living Dead’ films. After all, not all zombie flicks are created equal – even when they’re made by a veritable master of the craft.

Earlier this week, Paramount Pictures’ animated “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” crossed the $100 million mark at the box office, becoming the 18th movie of 2023 to reach that milestone domestically, but also, the final one of the summer.
Directed by Jeff Rowe (“The Mitchells vs. the Machines”), the movie was the brainchild of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who wrote it with Rowe plus Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. It featured a quartet of young newcomers voicing the heroic reptiles — Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo) and Brady Noon (Raphael) — in addition to Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Paul Rudd, Rogen and more.

It featured a quartet of young newcomers voicing the heroic reptiles — Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo) and Brady Noon (Raphael) — in addition to Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Paul Rudd, Rogen and more.

For those of us who were alive when Steve Barron's 1990 film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was released, it felt like the culmination of a phenomenon. The Ninja Turtles had taken the world by storm in the mid-to-late 1980s, having moved from their comic book origins to a massive media franchise at a head-spinning pace.
After appearing in a popular animated TV series and spawning multiple video games -- not to mention landfills worth of toys and ancillary merch -- it was finally time for the Turtles to infiltrate theaters. Barron's film realized, for the first time, the quartet of ninjas in live-action. The production employed Jim Henson's Creature Shop to construct lightweight latex full-body costumes for the Turtle actors, as well as complicated masks that would mechanically mouth lines realistically. Four actors would play the bodies and other voice actors (except in one case) would read the dialogue.

Actor Seth Rogen, a fervent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Tmnt) enthusiast since his childhood days, has now been granted an opportunity to shape the latest installment within the Tmnt universe.
For Seth Rogen, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles left an indelible impression at a tender age. He recounted: “The animated series came out in 1987, when I was five. The first movie came out in 1990, when I was eight. It was perfectly geared toward someone my age and I loved it. They were funny.”
“They were referential. I started taking karate probably because of the Turtles. I was just kind of obsessed.”
The saga of four sibling turtles – Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello – metamorphosed into witty mutants following their exposure to a mysterious neon ‘ooze.’
However, not every ardent admirer is presented with the opportunity to craft the next chapter in the saga of their cherished characters. Yet, when Brian Robbins,...

Los Angeles, Aug 18 (Ians) The action-comedy movie series ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ has released its latest installment of the franchise with the animated movie ‘Mutant Mayhem’, a total reboot and a more comic-accurate movie hitting Indian screens on August 25.
Inspired by the popular comic series, an intriguing fact about the comics is that authors Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were inspired from legendary martial arts exponent and actor Bruce Lee.
The two authors were longtime friends, and in the spirit of camaraderie, they wrote the comic series as a parody of comic book tropes out of sheer amusement, never expecting it to become the massive franchise it has become today.
An intriguing twist of fate led to the emergence of the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’. In November 1983, the comic creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird inadvertently stumbled upon the concept while sharing some ideas in their studio.

Though there's no way to determine the actual numbers, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is probably responsible for convincing most kids that they need to take up some kind of martial arts. Of course, most of them end up disappointed to learn that they won't be wielding any of the weapons that Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo whip around, and very quickly they come to the realization that practicing karate (or ninjitsu) isn't nearly as fun as beating up the Foot Clan. But that didn't stop "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" writers and producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg from giving martial arts a try, albeit in a more haphazard way.
Leading up to the release of "Tmnt: Mutant Mayhem" (which is a bigger box office hit than it seems), Rogen and Goldberg had some stories about trying to become "Ninja Turtles" themselves. In fact, they both told stories that...

Something was amiss with Michelangelo’s waistline.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the team behind the high school comedy “Superbad,” had sold Brian Robbins, the CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, on the idea of adding some adolescent anarchy into their animated reboot of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” But there was a problem with the initial designs for the film’s four reptile heroes: Instead of looking like muscular teens, these Turtles were scrawny and malnourished, barely strong enough to wield nunchucks or hurl a throwing star. “They looked like they were on Ozempic,” Robbins jokes.
In his peripatetic career, the 59-year-old Robbins has been on every end of these kind of creative discussions, working as an actor, writer, director, producer, digital entrepreneur and now, studio chief. And that separates him from other movie moguls, who arrive at the C-suite from Mba programs and years spent in the corporate trenches.

In a pairing that delighted '90s kids the world over, Adam Sandler and Brendan Fraser recently sat down for an interview as part of Variety's "Actors on Actors" series, serving as both an "Airheads" reunion for the pair and a conversation between two of the biggest and most bankable stars at the end of the 20th century. Fraser had his breakthrough role in the comedy "Encino Man," which showed his ability to play a charming, hilarious, and hunky character that has had a pretty unconventional upbringing. This performance, paired with his rising star in Hollywood, made him the perfect choice to play the titular "George of the Jungle" in Sam Weisman's film for Disney.
In talking about the role, Sandler playfully acknowledged that Fraser was "jacked" and so "good-looking" in the film that it disappointed him. "You weren't supposed to do that to us," he joked. "You did right by the character,...

When making a television series, trying to do justice to something as beloved and as iconic as "The Sandman" comic series is undeniably a daunting task. For those unfamiliar with the comic, "The Sandman" was the blueprint that goth teens in the early '90s based their entire world around: it ran from January 1989 to March 1996. Written by Neil Gaiman with artwork by several talented artists, every panel is dense with spectacle. The series follows a family of metaphysical entities that personify several aspects of our reality. The main character Dream, aka Morpheus, leads us through a tale that spans the history of humanity and is as poignant as it is horrifying.

Trailblazer. Icon. Turtle. These are just a few of the words one could use to describe Venus de Milo, a character largely forgotten by pop culture despite being entirely unforgettable.
On Sept. 12, 1997, Fox Kids debuted Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, the first (and still only) live-action series based on the popular franchise. It was a massive undertaking, former President of Motion Pictures and Television for Saban Lance H. Robbins recalls to TVLine, including “the biggest sets we’d ever done for a show, including Power Rangers, to make that long tunnel in underground New York.”
