*spoiler alert.
Directors: Tess and Joe Smalley.
Writer: Ian Holt.
Cast: Josh Folan, Chris Perry, Natalie Wetta, Keithen Hergott, Eleanor Wilson.
Released to DVD: Sept 19, 2011
Episode 50 continues with the long tradition of inventing more paranormal reality television shows where private investigators meet an untimely end. This film even includes a short episode of a fake television show, "Paranormal Inspectors (Pi)," at the beginning just to show how this group functions in front of a camera. Jack Kelley (Josh Folan) and Damon Brown (Chris Parry), the founders, explain that ghosts are not real. They’re manufactured by natural causes, like the noxious fumes of improperly sealed cans of solvent, which play with a person’s imagination.
After the end credits roll for this short episode of "Paranormal Investigators," the real film kicks into high gear. The group is contacted by Andrew Worthington Jr. to investigate the West Virginia Insane Asylum.

There have been many pastiches, sequels, continuations, imitations, and appropriations of Dracula, Bram Stoker’s classic vampire novel. But only this one has been approved and endorsed by Stoker’s family, and only this one was cowritten by one of his descedents, his great-grandnephew Dacre Stoker, and by a Dracula expert, Ian Holt. Only this one is as big a bunch of hooey. It’s probably the funniest vampire novel I’ve ever read (though I haven’t read Stephenie Meyer yet)... certainly it’s the funniest Dracula book that isn’t meant to be funny. It’s also ridiculously entertaining. Reading this novel meant coming to yet another absurd plot twist or character revelation and saying to myself, yet again, “No, really? They went there? Bwahahahaha!” only to keep on feverishly turning pages, eager to see how it all turned out.

He is, without a doubt, the most famous vampire (yes, even more famous than Edward from the Twilight franchise). His villainy is legendary and his story inspired centuries of sequels in both books and movie form. Spawned from the genius of Bram Stoker, Dracula gave readers the original figure who started the bloodsucker craze. Now, in 2009, an actual descendant of the Stoker line is bringing Vlad the Impaler back to life.
Dracula The Un-dead (out now in hardcover from Dutton) was written by Dacre Stoker (Bram’s great-grandnephew) and Dracula historian Ian Holt. Equipped with Bram’s personal notes and thorough research, they have turned out a novel that is definitely worthy of sitting on the shelf beside the 1897 classic.
Told from several perspectives (as was the original), Dracula The Un-dead re-introduces readers to favorite characters like Mina Murray/Harker, Jonathan Harker, Dr. Jack Seward, Arthur Holmwood and Abraham Van Helsing.

When last we spoke with British comic book writer Tony Lee, he was hard at work scripting the comic book adventures of beloved science-fiction hero Doctor Who. This October, another of Lee's projects hits shelves—and this time around, he's tapped into an even more well-known and much-loved universe: the vampire-filled world of Bram Stoker's "Dracula."

To scholars of gothic and classic horror literature, the idea of writing a sequel to one of the crown jewels of horror culture, Bram Stoker’s original text Dracula, must sound like literary rape of the most criminal sort. Yet, this is not the simplistic cash-in that some may accuse it of being. The trio of Stoker descendant Dacre Stoker, Ian Holt, and Michael Kuciak acknowledge monetary value as a motivating factor, but have more complex goals alongside the obvious one.
Holt and Kuciak had initially tracked down Dacre’s uncle to tackle the project of writing a screenplay-sequel to Dracula. However, the Stoker family’s relationship to Hollywood had always been very negative, since Bram Stoker and his lawyers had failed to procure a worthwhile exchange for the book’s copyright. One search through ancestry.com later, Michael, Tim, and the family were put in contact with one another.

Can they get Mel and Danny to sign on for this? Paul Andrew Williams (The Cottage) is rumored to be up for the job of directing the far from needed 28 Months Later. This has already been proven false. Some awful pictures of Wolfman banners are online. Netflix failed to meet its subscriber growth projections for the third quarter. A few days back we told you about Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt’s new novel, Dracula: The Un-dead. It had been purchased by Harper UK but now we learn from Publisher’s Weekly that Dutton publisher Brian Tart won the domestic rights.
The last time the Stoker family gave its seal of approval to a Dracula project was the 1931 Universal film starring Bela Lugosi.
The deal was concluded by Danny Baror of Baror International and Ken Atchity of Atchity Entertainment International who have sold international publishing rights to the book which will be released in October 2009.
Atchity will also act as producer, with Blue Tulip’s Jan de Bont (Speed), on the film adaptation which they hope to have before the cameras by June. A screenplay adaptation has already been completed by Holt and Alexander Galant.

With Twilight about a month away, vampire fans have a new movie to devour. But soon, they'll get to go back to the beginning. For the first time since the original Dracula film in 1931, the descendants of Bram Stoker have given their full approval for a sequel that will be published in October 2009, with a film version of the story beginning production next summer.
Shock Till You Drop reports that the great-grandnephew of Stoker, Dacre Stoker, has sold the rights to a new story to Penguin-Canada. The story is a co-creation of writer Alexander Galant and Dracula documentarian and historian Ian Holt, who probably has the most popular house on the block every Halloween.

Spoilers of the genre aside (ahem, Twilight) I love just about anything having to do with vampires. Alan Ball's "True Blood" on HBO, for instance, is shaping up to be a wonderful modern take on the fanged nightcrawlers. And I can even enjoy the likes of 30 Days of Night. So you can imagine my delight that news from Styd that a sequel and film adaptation to the iconic "Dracula" story by Bram Stoker is in the works, titled The Un-Dead. I know we all think sequels can usually be the death of a story, but this doesn't sound bad at all. Apparently Stoker's great-grandnephew, Dacre Stoker and "award-winning Dracula documentarian and historian," Ian Holt, have sold the North American rights to the follow-up novel. The book is scheduled for an October 2009 release, while the film is expected to start production in June. Dacre (since it's confusing just to call...

Sure, we've seen many Dracula films and books over the years, but not many of them got the Stoker seal of approval ... until now.
According to Styd and Aei, Dacre Stoker, the great-grandnephew of Bram, has teamed with historian Ian Holt to bring to fruition the first family-backed use of Bram's classic vampire tale since Bela Lugosi donned the cape and fangs in the 1931 film and the stage production years later. This new venture will be appearing in both book and movie form starting next year!
Titled The Un-Dead, the story picks in up 1912, 25 years after Dracula's death. Someone or something is tracking down those who put an end to the bloodsucker's life. According to Dacre, this new work was crafted thanks to Bram's handwritten notes and "includes characters and plot threads that had been excised by the publisher from the original printing over a century ago.
