Mexican-Americans have been underestimated and undervalued by many, including by a certain U.S. president. But Fox Sports has a new term for the 35 million-strong community: target audience. Fox Sports cable channels FS1 and FS2 are currently broadcasting the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, an eight-team tournament that is effectively a dress rehearsal for next summer’s World Cup. It’s even held in the same place: Russia. Fortunately for Fox, the vaunted “El Tri,” Mexico’s national soccer team, is doing well — and lifting ratings along the way. “Mexico is really our second home team at Fox,” David Neal, Fox Sports’ vice president of production.

New York, Nov 14: How much people eat is influenced by their surroundings like ambience, orders placed by others, reveals a study.
Huffingtonpost.com shares a list of things that have an impact on what or how much we choose to eat:
- Where you're eating: Even if your food doesn't taste so good, you might continue eating depending on your environment. A Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin study showed that people ate the same amount of popcorn in a movie theatre, whether it was old and stale or fresh and just-popped.
"The results show just how powerful our environment can be in triggering unhealthy behaviour," said study researcher David Neal, a psychology professor at the University of Southern California..

Washington, May 28: In times of stress, people lean on established routines-even healthy ones, a novel study has found.
Across five experiments, the researchers provide an important new twist to the established idea that we have finite resources for self-regulation, meaning it's harder to take control of our actions when we're already stressed or tired.
Turns out we're just as likely to default to positive habits, such as eating a healthy breakfast or going to the gym, as we are to self-sabotage.
Led by Wendy Wood and David Neal of USC, this research shows that lack of control doesn't automatically mean indulgence or hedonism - it's the underlying routine that matters, for better or worse.
"When we try.

No matter what, you can bet Twitter will be involved. According to the Miami Herald, ex-cnn anchor Rick Sanchez will be back this fall--on the radio in South Florida--calling football games for the Fiu Golden Panthers. "Huge name move for Fiu," write David Neal and Justin Azpiazu, wondering if the at times well over the top style of Sanchez might "inject...games with the almost campily dramatic seriousness he did to shoot 'em up Miami of the late 1980s-early 1990s" when Sanchez was an anchor at Miami's Wsvn.

CBS and Discovery's new Velocity Network announced today they have pacted to broadcast 20 hours of the Epic Poker League, a new pro league launching next month in Las Vegas. CBS will air seven hours of original programming, while Velocity will air 13 hours as well as re-air CBS' episodes. Pat O'Brien will host; dates and airtimes will be announced later. David Neal and 441 Productions (Espn's World Series of Poker) are producing. TV networks recently have re-evaluated their poker coverage, which had grown steadily during the past few years to mirror the rise in popularity of online poker sites. In April, a number of those outlets -- including show sponsors Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars -- were shut down by the FBI and are under investigation for bank fraud and money laundering.
