Trailer for Yoav Factor's Reuniting the Rubins, starring Rhona Mitra and Timothy Spall. Thanks to Monterey Media who have uploaded their trailer for the comedy helmed and scripted by Yoav Factor, who also produces alongside Jonathan Weissler. In Reuniting the Rubins, an uptight lawyer, Lenny Rubins, (Timothy Spall - The King's Speech), has to put his dream retirement on hold when his ailing mother (Honor Blackman - Goldfinger) emotionally blackmails him into reuniting his estranged children for a holiday gathering. They may be peas from the same pod, but in Lenny's eyes, his grown-up children are certainly not even from the same planet: a ruthless control-freak and hard-nosed capitalist (James Callis - Battlestar Galactica), an outspoken, argumentative eco-warrior committed to the cause (Rhona Mitra - Underworld: Rise of the Lycans), an outer-worldly Buddhist Monk; and to cap it all, a bible bashing born-again Rabbi!

Timothy Spall (“The King's Speech”) stars in “Reuniting The Rubins,” a British family comedy debuting from Monterey Media March 23 at the Laemmle NoHo 7 in Los Angeles. Spall plays an attorney who’s forced to postpone his retirement when his persuasive mother (ex-Bond girl Honor Blackman) convinces him to reunite his contentious, politically divergent adult children for a holiday celebration. Moving up from commercials, debut feature director Yoav Factor has also cast James Callis (“Battlestar Galactica”), Rhona Mitra (“Underworld”) and Blake Harrison (“The Inbetweeners”) to co-star. Spall recently came off...

Contagion (12A)
(Steven Soderbergh, 2011, Us) Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jennifer Ehle. 106 mins
Much as he did with Traffic, Soderbergh connects the dots of a global issue and makes it look like something authoritative and contemporary rather than a celebrity disaster movie. Here it's a viral pandemic, briskly tracked in forensic detail and techno-backed montages. The response from health authorities and the panicked populace is all too credible, though once the dots are connected, we're too freaked out to remember why we were supposed to be watching.
We Need To Talk About Kevin (15)
(Lynne Ramsay, 2011, UK/Us) Tilda Swinton, Ezra Miller. 112 mins
Swinton's fine performance and Ramsay's visual intelligence add up to a devastating portrait of motherhood. After a high-school shooting, a mother's existence becomes a living hell.
The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 (12A)
(Göran Olsson, 2011, Swe) 96 mins
A trove of rediscovered news footage, along with modern-day commentary and soundtrack,...

Family squabbles are to the fore in this underwhelming comedy from first-time director Yoav Factor
The Royal Tenenbaums meets The Upper Hand in this film from first-time director Yoav Factor. Unfortunately, it's the duff 90s sitcom that sets the tone. Timothy Spall, still in search of a serviceable star vehicle, must reunite warring sprogs Rhona Mitra, Blake Harrison, James Callis and Hugh O'Conor and corral them back to the family home on the dying wish of Gran (Honor Blackman). Plot twists are shoutingly signposted and then wallopingly orchestrated; few characters shake off the thick blanket of caricature while tragic back-stories are whipped out as narrative trump cards with all the taste of strip poker at a funeral. Rubins ultimately sinks beneath the weight of its own gubbins.

Honor Blackman is famous for her roles as Pussy Galore in Bond film Goldfinger and as leatherclad sidekick Cathy Gale in TV's The Avengers.
But she has numerous other credits including playing Zeus's goddess wife Hera in 1963 mythological classic Jason and the Argonauts and appearing alongside Colin Baker in the 1986 Doctor Who story The Trial of a Time Lord.
Now we can add to those an appearance as an elderly, ailing Jewish mother in Kaleidoscope Entertainment's family comedy Reuniting the Rubins, which is released in selected cinemas on October 21.
The story follows Lenny Rubin, played by Timothy Spall, whose mission to follow his dream is comically halted in its tracks at the request of his dear, but difficult, aged Jewish mother. She is hellbent on seeing her warring dysfunctional, grown-up grandchildren together one last time before she dies.
