Justice League could have turned out to be extremely different had Warner Bros. moved forward with a script written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad, Aquaman) back in 2011. At the time, Ben Affleck was in talks to direct the film, so this would have been the script that he would have brought to life if things worked out. You have to remember, this script was written before Christopher Nolan even finished his Dark Knight trilogy, before Man of Steel was made.
The Wrap ended up getting their hands on a copy of the script and it sounds like it would have been a pretty epic and ambitious film! After reading some of these details, it's a shame that this never happened. Aquaman would not have been a part of the movie, Batman and Wonder Woman have a son together, Darkseid enslaves Superman, and Hawkman and Green Lantern join forces and fight alongside each other.

As you may or may not know, Warner Bros. began working on a Justice League movie back in 2011, which was a few years before Man of Steel came out and kicked off the DC Extended Universe in proper fashion. Though it never got off the ground, a script was written by Will Beall and thanks to The Wrap, who got their hands on a copy of it, we now know what the studio’s original plan for the Dceu was.
As you’ll see down below, the script details what sounds like a pretty wild movie and a far cry from what we ended up getting. With 28 characters, time travel, an insane plot and more, we’re actually thankful that we got what we did instead, despite its problems, and after hearing about what Beall’s story involved, you’ll probably feel the same.
So, where to begin? Well, like we said above,...

Anyone who fancies themselves as a Green Lantern fan has probably noticed that each representative of Sector 2814 has been given ample time to shine in a solo series. Whether it be Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner, each of those ringslingers have had an era that they could definitively call their own, and each also made vast contributions to the ongoing mythology.
But when DC relaunched the flagship space cop title in 2016, they pluralized it with Green Lanterns, effectively placing the focus squarely on rookies Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz. Now, this could’ve been a disaster if placed in the hands of lesser writers, but Sam Humphries gave those two such personality and charted exciting new territory from the get-go.
Obviously, creators don’t stay on specific titles forever, and this one is no exception. Fortunately, we have Tim Seeley to carry the torch and, if...

The list of actors who have allegedly come into contention for Green Lantern Corps is as long as it is tantalizing.
That’s because Warner Bros. is presumably still casting the net in search of their Hal Jordan/John Stewart combo, and to date, Jake Gyllenhaal (The Batman?), Armie Hammer, Bradley Cooper, Joel McHale, Chris Pine, Common, Tyrese Gibson, Matthew McConau–and, well, you get the idea.
Point is, Warner’s casting process for Green Lantern Corps is ongoing, and thanks to screenwriter Michael Green, Ricky Whittle of American Gods fame has now been tossed into the proverbial hat. This past weekend, Green, who was credited as the writer of 2011’s botched Green Lantern movie alongside Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti, voiced his support of Whittle, stating:
I’ll probably get angry texts if I don’t say what’s in my heart which is that Ricky Whittle would make a fantastic John Stewart.

Even though no one can be entirely certain about what WB’s post-Justice League plans may be due to it under-performing at the United States box office and the divide between critics and casual moviegoers being larger than ever, many DC devotees such as myself are crossing our fingers hoping that Green Lantern Corps sees the light of (Brightest) day.
After all, the studio’s first attempt at bringing a ringslinger to the big screen back in 2011 was widely reviled, and there’s just so much rich material that’s ripe for live action adaptation. Really, it’s a downright shame that we never got to see the fall of Sinestro.

DC hasn’t exactly embraced the Marvel model of sticking two post-credits scenes at the end of their movies before now, but Justice League bucked the trend and did just that. The first was a brief but very fun sequence which saw the Flash and Superman challenge each other to a race. The second was much meatier, though, featuring a set-up for an Injustice League headed by Lex Luthor and Deathstroke.
At an earlier stage of production, however, Justice League’s post-credits scene paved the way for another upcoming movie: Green Lantern Corps, set to arrive in 2020. This juicy piece of info comes from Reddit user LND_Film, a visual effects artist who worked on Wonder Woman and has several friends who were involved with Jl. More than one star has been drawn into the feud at some point if only for a short time, but John Stewart has had to get in there and stir the pot as well. It’s for a good reason at least and definitely highlights the ongoing ‘feud’ for a good cause. The only thing is that there are times when the feud actually

As Wonder Woman goes into it's third weekend in theaters, comic book fans now look toward the next film in the franchise, Justice League. We know that the film took a big hit due to a tragedy in director Zack Snyder's life, which forced him to depart from the project leaving Josh Whedon in charge to finish the post production. Currently the film is going through some extensive re shoots at Cardington Studios in Bedfordshire, England. It is at this location where we got a peek at an iconic building that may be featured in the film.
Thanks to the Twitter account @_DCWorld we have some photos of the studios where they are doing the reshoots. One of the photos shows a building that will look very familiar to DC Comics fans, the Hall of Justice. The Hall of Justice made it's first appearance in the first episode of...

Something that’s made Green Lantern books so exciting in the past fifteen years or so has been the constant, significant additions to the mythology, many of which were made by Geoff Johns over the course of his run that lasted for nine years. In the time since, several other writers have run with the torch by making their own valuable contributions, one of which is Sam Humphries, the guiding hand of Green Lanterns.
To this point, I personally have not been shy about showing my appreciation for what Humphries and company have done with rookie Corps members Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz. There’s one inescapable fact that continues to hound the publicity for Justice League, and that is that there’s someone missing. Back in 2015, DC Extended Universe architect Zack Snyder got us all excited with images bearing the caption ‘Unite The Seven.’ That’s because there are seven core members of the Justice League in the New 52 DC Comics, and it’s the New 52 DC universe upon which this movie franchise is largely based. As such, the line-up should feature Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, The Flash, Superman and Green Lantern – but so far, the latter has yet to be revealed.
The presence of Superman was questioned when the publicity machine for Justice League first cranked into action – because Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice featured his funeral, and he wasn’t shown in any footage or images. But, then he began to appear, and the team was almost complete...

To say that Sterling K. Brown currently has his hand in a lot of projects may read as something of an understatement – hot off a scene-stealing performance in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Brown secured key roles across The Predator and Marvel’s Black Panther origin story, two films that are currently brewing in production ahead of their respective 2018 launch dates.
As two of the more high-profile properties in development, it tees up an exciting 12 months for the actor, but Sterling K. Brown has already staked a claim for another project: Green Lantern Corps. The cosmic origin story of Hal Jordan and John Stewart has made serious headway over at Warner Bros. in the past few months alone, after the studio drafted in David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to pen a treatment of the script.

Ok you three, and this is currently addressed to Henry Cavill, but fear not, Armie Hammer and Geoff Johns are included in this.
So for months now Armie Hammer (which by the way I wish I was born with that name) and Geoff Johns (my favorite DC writer, and the man that brought Hal back into existence) have been teasing us with Twitter/Instagram images, hints, and downright teasers that make us all run to IMDb.
Well Henry Cavill has decided to join the fun with some interesting Twitter/Instagram posts. And, Henry, man, your dog wants a Busy Bone he is not looking for Hal!!!!!

Since I came off the ol knee injury I've been steadily increasing my training work load. I know it's irritating when people say this but it genuinely does feel so good to be back in it.

It’s been a busy, busy week for the DC Extended Universe – but would you expect any less? With a packed slate of projects all brewing in various stages of development, updates have been arriving at an alarming rate. Earlier this week, we learned that the studio was hoping to put out a second DC film in 2018, to go along with Aquaman, and just a few hours ago, we reported on Jaume-Collet Serra joining the mix for the Suicide Squad 2 director hunt.
Now, we’ve got an update on Green Lantern Corps for you. Though still quite a ways away, the pic is already being penned by David Goyer and Justin Rhodes, as Warner Bros. continues to look for two actors to play Hal Jordan and John Stewart. But so far, nothing’s emerged about a potential director. Until now, that is. Tracking-Board’s Jeff Sneider has revealed that his...

From everything we've learned about Zack Snyder's Justice League film up until this point, Green Lantern has had no place in the film. We know that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment plan on releasing their Green Lantern Corps film in 2020, but there's a chance we won't have to wait that long before we see the cosmic heroes up on the big screen.
According to major scooper Umberto Gonzalez, Snyder will be including a Green Lantern character in Justice League after all. He wouldn't reveal which one it is, but he does say that the character will have a "funny sounding name." That rules out Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and any other human Green Lantern Corps characters. He says:
"Yes, there is a Green Lantern in Justice League, but I forgot how to pronounce it."
Since there's been no official confirmation of this from the studio or anyone...

For a while there, it didn’t sound like Warner Bros. was going to be doing much with the Green Lantern property. Though they announced Green Lantern Corps for 2020 a while back, there was really no news on it for quite some time, and given how poorly the 2011 film was received, perhaps that wasn’t too surprising. But about a month ago, the floodgates opened as we learned that David S. Goyer would be co-writing the film with Justin Rhodes.
Since then, we’ve also had a shortlist for Hal Jordan that included names like Armie Hammer, James Marsden, Bradley Cooper and even Ryan Reynolds. Not to mention a few actors have been voicing interest in the John Stewart role as well. So far, nothing’s been announced in terms of casting, but things are clearly heating up and if a new rumor is to be believed, we may be...

Though Common may have started out in the music biz, the artist has taken some serious steps into acting in recent years and with another great role in John Wick: Chapter 2, which opened last week to solid reviews, he’s becoming more and more of a bankable talent, proving that he can bring the goods on screen and in the recording booth. While we’ve already seen him dabble in comic book movies before, most recently in last year’s Suicide Squad, that hasn’t quelled his desire to dip his toes in the pool again. Although this time around, he’s got his eye on a much bigger role.
If you recall, in 2007, Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller tried to make a Justice League movie called Justice League Mortal. It never got off the ground, but Common was attached to star as John Stewart aka Green Lantern.

Common, born Lonnie Rashid Lynn, has come quite a long way since I first remember him rapping in the 90s. Not to say that his music career is something to sneeze at, in fact he won an Oscar, Golden Globe, and a Grammy for his collaboration with John Legend on the song "Glory" in the movie Selma. However, Common has more recently been stretching out his acting wings, and he has been quite proficient in his roles.
I did not even realize that he played in Hell On Wheels, until I saw the opening credits around the mid point of season one. He also played in American Gangster, Terminator Salvation, Smokin' Aces, Wanted, and Street Kings. Oh, and let's not forget his "lengthy" role in Suicide Squad where he learned that looking at Harley Quinn is not the best idea in the world. One thing you may notice about these films,...

One of the more infamous comic book movies that never go made was George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal. The movie had cast a bunch of DC heroes, with Common taking on the role of John Stewart, also known as The Green Lantern. But an assortment of issues – not least the success of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy – led to Warner Bros pulling the plug.
But it was late in the date when it did. And Common, in a new interview with Yahoo!, has given a flavour of just how close he got to playing Green Lantern on screen.
“Yeah, I was cast and we started rehearsals for the film”, he recalled. “I went to Australia. I tried on the outfit and everything. It was heartbreaking, but it happened”.

When it comes to Justice League, which will be the largest entry in the DC Extended Universe yet (and that's saying a lot, when you think of how huge the scope of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was), you'd be fine assuming that every major character we've met so far is going to appear in the big event.
Apparently, that's not such a safe bet to make after all.
Laurence Fishburne, out making the rounds to promote John Wick: Chapter 2, answered frankly about whether or not the Daily Planet's iconic editor-in-chief, Perry White, was going to show up in Justice League. Fishburne has played the character in two Dceu films so far, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, but he confirms that he will not be seen in DC's big team-up. Though, that's not for a lack of trying:

Common’s recent trip to the DC Extended Universe apparently hasn’t put him off from returning to it. The rapper-actor played Monster T (who was possibly the comics’ Tattooed Man) in Suicide Squad, where he got up close and personal with Jared Leto’s Joker. And he tells IGN that he’d love to join the Green Lantern Corps movie that was announced in July 2015.
The new adaptation will feature both Hal Jordan and John Stewart, and is being written by David Goyer and Justin Rhodes. Warner Bros. recently described it as “Lethal Weapon in space,” which was probably one of the better ideas bandied about for it. Common is now lobbying for the role of Stewart, because he really digs how “community-driven” the character is.

With the Dceu's Green Lantern Corps. film receiving a new round of mainstream attention thanks to January's hire of David Goyer & Justin Rhodes as screenwriters, Common was asked about playing John Stewart in the film, which was described as "Lethal Weapon in space." If you recall, Common was previously set to play John Stewart in 2009's Justice League Mortal. With that in mind and the fact that Common already had a role in the Dceu as Monster T. in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, has the Selma actor lost interest? "No, I haven't spoken to DC. John Stewart, the character, is amazing. Since the Rebirth era kicked off last summer, both critics and fans have rightfully praised titles such as Superman, Detective Comics and Green Arrow, but one that I feel has been criminally overlooked by many is that of Green Lanterns. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s one of the rare titles in the line that boldly allows newer characters to enjoy time in the spotlight, but I assure you that it provides one of the most rewarding reading experiences DC currently offers and its first collected edition, Rage Planet, does nothing but prove my point.
What I really like about the Green Lanterns ongoing series as a whole is that Sam Humphries accomplishes what all the best stories featuring ringslingers have done since 2004: Telling awesome tales and generously building the mythology while doing so.

2016 was a huge year for Mahershala Ali. After making an impact on comic book fans with his impressive turn as Cottonmouth in Marvel and Netflix’s Luke Cage, the actor received a great deal of praise for his work in Moonlight, a bona fide Oscar favourite until La La Land came along.
Though he’s already signed up to star in Alita: Battle Angel, you have to believe that there’s more on the horizon for him, especially with his star on the rise. Could he possibly find himself in a superhero film next? There’s been no indication of that just yet, but it wouldn’t surprise us in the least and now, following the emergence of a shortlist of stars being considered for the role of Hal Jordan in Green Lantern Corps, some cool new fan art has made its way online that imagines what Ali could look like as John Stewart.
