“Sas: Red Notice,” the action thriller from director Laurence Malkin that became a hit for U.K. platform Sky Cinema in 2021, is getting a sequel.
Creative details are currently under wraps, but development funding for the sequel was provided by Sky Original Films and the film will be executive produced by Sky’s director of original film, Julia Stuart. Sky will co-finance and take all rights for the U.K. and Ireland. Production financing will come from Ashland Hill Media Finance, led by Joe Simpson, Simon Williams, and Jonathan Bross.

European pay TV platform Sky has released the trailer for Sky Original film “Dance First,” ahead of its world premiere at San Sebastian Film Festival on Sept. 30. Film Constellation is handling international sales on the film.

During the Halloween season last year, it was announced that Damian Lewis, whose credits include Billions, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Homeland, and Dreamcatcher, will be playing two roles in the supernatural black comedy The Radleys. Arclight Films kicks off worldwide sales this week and has released an exclusive first image from the thriller Poker Face directed by and starring Russell Crowe alongside Liam Hemsworth.
Crowe plays a billionaire gambler who offers his best friends the chance to win more money than they have ever dreamed of. However, in return, they will have to give up the secrets they have spent their lives protecting and will learn the true nature of what is at stake.

Exclusive: Longtime Independent Film Company MD Andrew Orr has joined Comcast-owned Sky as Head Of Original Film.
Orr will be working on the pay-tv broadcaster’s development slate and strategy as well as acting as commissioner on a number of projects alongside Julia Stuart, Director of Original Film, and Laura Grange, Commissioning Manager, Original Film. He will also be working with James Newton on content partnerships.
Orr, who will be in Cannes this week for Sky, spent almost 17 years at UK sales and production firm Independent, selling movies including Moon, Starred Up, Ai WeiWei: Never Sorry, Hallam Foe, London To Brighton and Adulthood. He was an executive producer on movies including We Need to Talk About Kevin, Mr Nice, The Falling and Out of Blue.
In more recent years Orr segued to a role as executive producer and developed the company’s first TV slate. Prior to Independent he was at The Works,...

Exclusive: Cast has been finalized on Borderland, the long-gestating thriller set on the paranoid streets of 1970s London.
Confirmed as starring are Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You) and Colin Morgan (Belfast), who lead an ensemble cast featuring Felicity Jones (Rogue One), Mark Strong (1917), Sophia Brown (The Witcher: Blood Origin) and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Avengers: Endgame).
The project is now shooting in Glasgow. Sky has boarded the pic and will release on Sky Cinema in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2022; theatrical releases will take place outside of those markets, including in the U.S., the film team said.
Borderland is written by Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett and the Guard Brothers, Tom and Charles, who are helming.

Sarah Wright, group director of acquisitions at UK broadcaster Sky, is to step down after 13 years at the company, according to Screen’s sister publication Broadcast.
Wright, who is also director of Sky Cinema, has decided to take some time out to focus on her writing and executive coaching ambitions, following a tenure which included buying Modern Family and leading on the initial HBO deal which brought Game Of Thrones to the UK and made the launch of Sky Atlantic possible.
