The original Star Wars trilogy was one of the shining examples of groundbreaking films of the 70s and 80s that changed cinema forever. The film series introduced audiences to a galaxy far, far away, and featured visuals and sci-fi narratives that have never been done before up to that point. The franchise also saw the origins of characters that have now become iconic characters.

Dianne Crittenden, the casting director whose impressive résumé included the first Star Wars film, The In-Laws and the Terrence Malick features Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, has died. She was 82.
Crittenden died Wednesday at her home in Pacific Palisades after a battle with several cancers, fellow casting director Ilene Starger told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Dianne was my mentor, we’ve known each other for 44 years,” Starger said. “She was also my dear friend, more like an older sister, really. So generous, kind, brilliant, funny. A people magnet. Her knowledge of and insight into actors was extraordinary.”
A former head of casting at Warner Bros., Crittenden collaborated with Martin Ritt on Murphy’s Romance (1985) and Stanley & Iris (1990); with Roger Donaldson on Thirteen Days (2000) and The World’s Fastest Indian (2005); and with Peter Weir on Witness (1985), The Mosquito Coast (1986) and Green Card (1990).
Crittenden was born in Queens on Aug.

Be a dead man and lose his family, or kill his former boss and get his life back. Decisions, decisions.
In the series finale of Hulu’s Culprits, Joe (aka David and Muscle) was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Although he said he was done killing, would he take one more life if it meant protecting his family? According to Dianne, the money...

High Desert‘s season finale went out with a literal, yet very unpredictable bang.
At the top of the episode, Peg’s in a bit of hot water and that couldn’t be any more of an understatement. She and the guru are tied up in the back of the Gattchis’ truck, and to make matters worse (or I guess it depends on your perspective, maaaan), they’re both “tripping balls.” In the middle of the desert, Bob finally reveals that Donna fell down the stairs and impaled herself on a trophy. A total accident, he says. After convincing Nick...

Peggy Newman is an interesting woman. Despite her addiction, which she has almost overcome, she has never let it grow on her and affect those around her. She is strong and knows how to take a stand. This aspect of her personality attracts us to her, although there is a lot more to her, like the fact that she is loving, funny, and intelligent. But what makes us one is our struggle. Her struggle to get a job, her struggle to keep the family together, her struggle to help a friend, and her struggle to cope with her mom’s absence are what connect us with her. She is one of us. But for now, she has to deal with a robbery in the middle of High Desert.

High Desert is the story of Peggy Newman of Yucca Valley, California. If you have seen BBC One’s Rain Dogs, it will be easier for you to understand this comedy-drama that revolves around a woman who is trying to get by in life. She is middle-aged and single; she has just lost her mom, and the world is very harsh. It is an exploration of life and its ups and downs, or to be more appropriate, its highs and lows. From an illegal past to a legal present, Peggy has been through a lot. High Desert celebrates the chaos we call life and proves that it is not meant to be enjoyed; it is meant to be lived. But it’s better not to do drugs.

Even though he was a regular on five series, the role actor Vincent Ventresca is best known for is Fun Bobby on NBC’s hit sitcom Friends.
For two episodes.

“More people saw those two episodes than anything else I’ve done. It’s a show that just keeps going, finding a new format; it’s being introduced to a whole new generation. That show became its own thing, its own world. It was a funny bit on a show that everybody saw. It’s rerunning all the time,” said Ventresca, 56, who lives in Los Angeles with Dianne, his wife of 27 years, with whom he has two children.
