Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban turned the 2023 Oscars into their own Pda-filled date night. The actor and her musician husband walked the red carpet together at the Dolby Theatre on March 12, sharing several passionate kisses, holding hands, and hugging while posing for the cameras. Kidman dazzled in a sequined Armani Privé gown with a striking leg slit, while Urban kept things classic in a black tuxedo. The couple, who have been married since 2006 and share two daughters, also snapped photos with best actress nominee Andrea Riseborough and "The Fabelmans" star Sam Rechner.
In the opening monologue, host Jimmy Kimmel joked about Kidman's highly memed deal with AMC Theaters, in addition to poking fun at popular weight-loss drug Ozempic and last year's Oscars slap, among other topics. "I am happy to see that Nicole Kidman has finally been released from that abandoned AMC, where she has been held captive for almost two full years now,...

After a quiet time in Hollywood and elsewhere as celebrities and their families celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and even Festivus, the New Year has arrived with some big bangs, especially at the 34th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, which has traditionally been the first stop on the party season ride into the Oscars (on March 12 this year). Earlier, the Rose Bowl Parade brought out “Yellowstone” breakout star and country singer Lainey Wilson riding on Louisiana’s award-winning float; and lots of beautiful people flocked to St. Barths for a Caribbean vacation and to help a worthy cause, too, at the LuisaViaRoma for Unicef Winter Gala.

Steven Spielberg focused a lens on his family history in The Fabelmans so it was fitting that Thursday’s Palm Springs Film Awards saw someone he loves like family take the stage to honor his team with a Vanguard Award.
Sally Field, who starred as Mary Todd Lincoln opposite Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis’ Abraham Lincoln in Spielberg’s 2012 film Lincoln, kicked off her tribute by attempting to recall the exact moment she met the filmmaker. “Somewhere in the ‘70s, I think — he’ll correct me,” Field admitted. (And Spielberg did, by revealing that their paths crossed at a party in 1968.)
The reason for their initial meeting? A potential date.
“My newly acquired business manager wanted me to meet one of his clients and wanted me to go to Universal for a supposed ‘meeting’ because he thought the two of us would really hit it off,” continued Field, who is also...

If you need a periodic reminder that Steven Spielberg is one of our greatest living filmmakers, look no further than "The Fabelmans," which /Film's Chris Evangelista raves about in his review. It could have been really easy for Spielberg to construct another half-hearted love letter to the movies, but there's so much more going on under the surface than its saccharine marketing would lead you to believe. The semi-autobiographical feature is less about how his fictional childhood counterpart grew up to become a filmmaking wizard, and more about how a gifted child builds his cinematic language around his parent's deteriorating marriage.
"The Fabelmans" is not only one of the best films of the year, but a personal favorite as well. It plays like Spielberg confronting a series of complicated feelings throughout his childhood, while on his way to becoming the blockbuster legend we know today. The film is stacked with...

"The Fabelmans" — Steven Spielberg's semi-autobiographical tale about a creative child building his cinematic language through the lens of his parent's deteriorating marriage — is an intimate epic whose emotional beats are highlighted by its ensemble cast.
Michelle Williams and Paul Dano soar as representations of his folks, in addition to Seth Rogen as the family friend, Bennie. Gabriel Labelle as Sammy Fabelman is the film's beating heart, not only because the character calls for it, but because he turns in a truly magnificent central performance. Even if you strip away the movie's fundamental building blocks, however, what you're left with is a series of memorable side characters who only need a scene to work their magic.

It is not how this type of story is supposed to go. Sam Fabelman (Gabriel Labelle), a lad who is also a thinly veiled portrait of Steven Spielberg’s youth, has been bullied, humiliated, and finally assaulted by his high school’s golden boy, Logan Hall (Sam Rechner). The six-foot-plus gorilla never openly made an Antisemitic jape at Sammy’s expense. But when Logan’s buddy Chad (Oakes Fegley) did, Logan stood there and laughed—and later tried to break Sammy’s nose when the smaller kid stood up for himself.
Yet here they were, a few months later and on prom night, sharing something akin to camaraderie. Logan even offers Sam a drag of a joint he just rolled. The 180-degree pivot from animosity surprises the kids, just as it does the audience who expected...

Seth Rogen has spoken out about his experience as part of the cast of Steven Spielberg’s Toronto Film Festival-bound The Fabelmans.
The actor shares in an upcoming edition of The Process that he wrapped his role in the film, loosely based on the iconic filmmaker’s childhood and upbringing, toward the end of last year. “It was really cool. It was fascinating. It was a really surreal experience for everyone involved,” Rogen said of the film, which has him playing a character inspired by Spielberg’s uncle. “It premieres at Toronto. I’ve literally not seen one frame of it, so it’ll be a bizarre experience.”
In conversation with Pam & Tommy editor Tatiana S. Riegel for Deadline’s video series, Rogen also addressed his “immense” relief in seeing Lily James excel in her transformational turn as the Hulu series’ Pamela Anderson.
