Hitman dramedy “Knok,” pandemic-thriller “Lt-21,” and dystopian sendup “Rictus” will head off Have A Good One’s (Hago) Mipcom slate, as the Paris-based TV development and sales company has boarded two additional series currently in production.
Produced by Mifa Pictures (Groupe StoryPlus) and N22 Productions for 13ème Rue France, and created by Guillaume Duhesme, Bastien Ughetto and Lucie Moreau, the off-kilter “Knok” follows a hapless single-dad inducted into the underworld and made an unwilling contract-killer after accidentally witnessing a hit. César-winner Sylvie Testud (“Fear and Trembling”) and up-and-comer Johann Cuny lead the cast for a loopy six-part season that won acclaim at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival earlier this year.
Given the spotlight at the Biarritz Unifrance Rendez-vous last month, eco-thriller “Lt-21” tracks a disquieting pandemic plot about an international virus that forces amnesia on those afflicted. Actors Arnaud Valois (“Bpm”) and Léonie Simaga (“The Eddy”) play a pair doctors...

Above: Little JoeJessica Hausner is one of the great observers in modern cinema. The human body and its roots and tendrils are examined as if in a nature documentary while circumstances become outrageous: The faces of her heroines, the slow body language meant to mask an internal longing and anxiousness, the minute changes in expressions, the cracking of a voice. The world suddenly becomes too small for her characters and we watch as they try to breathe. Hausner began by observing young Germans and their first brushes with the thorniness of adult life and its inherent violence. In her shorts Flora (1995), Inter-View (1999), and her first feature Lovely Rita (2001), she shows people who seem like they want to claw their way out of their cramped surroundings or even out of their own skin. In 2004’s Hotel, her aesthetic playbook was completely rewritten. Suddenly a clinical stillness and a nagging, asymmetrical design...

I've been looking forward to seeing director Luca Guadagnino's (Call Me by Your Name) remake of Suspiria since the first footage was screen at CinemaCon earlier this year. The scene that was shared was absolutely insane and horrifically savage, but that was just a little appetizer compared to the other brutally dark a treacherous places that this movie goes.
The trailers for the film are great and they do a fantastic job at building up the suspense and the world that the story is set in, but those trailers don't even touch on the ruthless and twisted psychological journey that this horror film will take audiences on.
Suspiria is not for the faint of heart, it is a slow burn kind of film that escalates into a vicious blood-fueled nightmarish terror of things that you cannot unsee. This is just one messed up movie that could drive weak souls to the brink of madness.

The full main title score for the upcoming remake of Suspiria has been released and as you'll see, it's got an eerie vibe to it. The theme was created by Thom Yorke of Raidiohead. He created the entire score of the film, which I thought was pretty cool. He's trying something different and I'm a fan of what he's done with this. It has a very haunting vibe. It's also very different from the musical score of the original film which was done by Goblin. That original creepy score is iconic and easily one of my favorite horror movie scores. Listen to the Thom Yorke's score below and tell us what you think.
Suspiria is set in Berlin, and the story follows a young dancer who joins a dance company. That dance academy happens to be run by witches and as you might imagine weird and horrifying things begin to...

We've got a new poster to share with you for the highly anticipated upcoming remake of Suspiria. As you can see, it's a bloody and eye-catching poster. All of the eyes are giving off a very mischievous vibe because witches are mischievous. I really hope that this movie turns out as dark and disturbing as director Luca Guadagnino says it is. He previously said:
“I hope that the movie comes across as a relentless experience that’s going to go deep into your skin all the way down into your spine. I want the movie to perform as the most disturbing experience you can have. The movie is about being immersed in a world of turmoil and uncompromising darkness.”
The director also teased a post-credits scene. While talking to Deadline, he says the scene follows a certain character that he doesn't name:

The first clip has been released for the highly anticipated remake of the horror thriller Suspiria. The clip features Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton) outlining plans for a new dance in which she says Susie Bannion (Dakota Johnson) can improvise freely. As you'll see, she gives herself to the dance and gets really into it, but it also seems to attract a demonic creature.
When talking about the film in an interview, director Luca Guadagnino tells THR that he wants the film to be the most disturbing experience you can have:

"When you dance the dance of another, you make yourself in the image of its creator."
Amazon Studios has released the full trailer for their remake of the classic 1970s psychedelic horror film Suspiria. This trailer gives us our best look yet at the movie yet, which is said to be 152 minutes long. That's a long horror movie, but it looks so good!
Suspiria is set in Berlin, and the story follows a young dancer who joins a dance company. That dance academy happens to be run by witches and as you might imagine weird and horrifying things begin to happen as the terrifying mystery behind the school and its teachers unfolds.
In the film, a darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe’s artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.

"When you dance the dance of another, you make yourself in the image of its creator." Amazon Studios has revealed the second official trailer for Luca Guadagnino's fresh new take on Suspiria, remaking the classic Dario Argento horror film from 1977. The film is premiering at the Venice Film Festival in a few weeks. And we finally get a better look at what's going on in this 152 minute horror thriller. Luca's new Suspiria is set in Berlin, but follows a similar story of a young dance student who joins a dance company in Berlin. But weird things start to happen to the people around her. The incredible cast includes Dakota Johnson in the lead as Susie, along with Tilda Swinton, Lutz Ebersdorf, Chloe Moretz, Mia Goth, Renée Soutendijk, Jessica Harper, Sylvie Testud, Angela Winkler, Malgorzata Bela, and Ingrid Caven. Vivid, surreal, nightmarish – three words one would use to describe the original Suspiria movie from ’77.
Fast forward 40 years (and change) and we stand on the verge of Luca Guadagnino’s horror remake, which features Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton in prominent roles. The latter has been cast as Madame Blanc, a dance teacher stationed in Berlin who falls under the spell of Susie Bannion (Johnson). But there’s a twist.
As June’s teaser trailer proved, Suspiria is a movie teeming with witchcraft and toe-curling horror, and it’s young Susie Bannion who’s thrust into the middle of it. That’s very much the case in EW’s exclusive photo reveal for the November thriller, in which you’ll see Dakota Johnson’s character caught up in the center of a rather disturbing dance.
Tilda Swinton, on the other hand, plays a figure who’s crippled by an inner conflict,...

Academy Award-winner Geoffrey Rush and Golden Globe-nominee Armie Hammer star in the compelling story about artistic genius and the search for creative perfection in Final Portrait, debuting on DVD and digital July 31 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Adapted from James Lord’s memoir “A Giacometti Portrait,” the film was written and directed by Stanley Tucci and tells the story of famed artist Alberto Giacometti (Rush) who asks the American writer and art-lover James Lord (Hammer) to sit for a portrait which takes much longer than either of them anticipate. Final Portrait also stars Golden Globe-winner Tony Shalhoub (TVs “Monk” 2002; “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Sylvie Testud (La Vie en Rose) and Clémence Poésy (In Bruges).
The DVD release of Final Portrait includes interview clips from the cast and filmmakers, plus behind the scenes footage from the set.

Say what you will about Quentin Tarantino, but the man knows his movies.
Currently presiding over a who’s who of A-list talent for his 1960s drama, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Qt recently caught an early screening of Suspiria, the hotly-anticipated horror remake coming by way of Luca Guadagnino. Spoilers: he loved it.
It’s due to hit theaters in November, and based on Tarantino’s emotional reaction, we’re in for quite the treat. Per IndieWire, Guadagnino revealed that the esteemed filmmaker was completely floored by Suspiria – so much so that he was reduced to tears. And if that isn’t a ringing endorsement, we don’t know what is…
I showed it to Quentin Tarantino. We’ve been friends since our jury duty at the Venice Film Festival. I was nervous but eager to hear his advice. We saw it at his place and his reaction warmed me.

Time for a hefty dose of culture down at the ole’ multiplex. The cinema arts have often used iconic figures in the other arts for inspiration and drama. Films have been based on the lives of writers, composers, musicians, and performers. Since the movies are such a visual medium, it’s only natural that they would veer into the worlds of illustration and fine art. Over the last few years, a cinematic art museum has featured lauded film biographies like Mr. Turner, Pollock, and last year’s Oscar-nominated wonder Loving Vincent. Really, Van Gough has been the focus or supporting character in several films, as have DaVinci, Michelangelo, Picasso, even Warhol. Now add another to that roster with this film about the 20th century sculptor Alberto Giacometti. But in this docudrama he’s not working his magic with clay and plaster. This story is told by the subject of his...

Chicago – Paris in the 1960s seems to be a place where anything was possible. “Final Portrait” is an indication of this, as Armie Hammer portrays a Mad Men style American critic (what!) in 1964, who sits for a portrait painting by eccentric artist Alberto Giacometti, portrayed with relish by Geoffrey Rush.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The film is written and directed by actor Stanley Tucci, and is his fifth directorial effort. And he brings along one of the lucky performers from his first film, “Big Night,” an unrecognizable Tony Shalhoub (“Monk”). The film – based on a true story – is deliberately paced, expressing the more leisurely and deeply felt times. One of the funnier bits is Hammer’s character constantly changing his airline flight as the portrait sitting goes on, something that may be impossible with such ease today (or with many fees attached). The setting is Paris in 1964. Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush) has invited his friend, the American art writer James Lord (Armie Hammer), to pose for a portrait. Intrigued and flattered – Giacometti's elongated sculptures and paintings had made him world famous – the subject agrees to sit for the master. Expecting to model for a few days, Lord found himself at the mercy of the notoriously self-critical artist for three weeks.

Armie Hammer’s “Call Me by Your Name” follow-up is another Sony Pictures Classics period piece that casts him as an American on a European excursion.
In Paris-set “Final Portrait” — Stanley Tucci’s first film as a writer/director since 2007 (“Blind Date”) — Hammer plays James Lord, a writer who agrees to sit for a 1964 session with Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush). But hasty, distracted Giacometti demands weeks of Lord’s life, and 18 sessions altogether.
More than two decades later, Lord published a nearly 600-page biography of his late friend and patience-tester. Giacometti died in 1966 at age 64, shortly after traveling to New York for an exhibition of his sculptures, lithographs, and paintings at the Museum of Modern Art.

In Paris in 1964, Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush: Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge, Gods of Egypt) invites a friend, American journalist James Lord (Armie Hammer: Call Me by Your Name, Cars 3), to sit for a portrait. Lord is about to fly home to New York in a few days, but Giacometti promises that this favor to him will require “two to three hours, an afternoon at the most.”

Stars: Ben Litwinschuh, Lutz Simon Eilert, Helena Pieske, Ludwig Trepte, Sylvie Testud | Written by Johanna Stuttmann | Directed by Mara Eibl-Eibesfeldt
We first see Sabine (Sylvie Testud) in happier times, frolicking with her three young kids: Jonas (Ben Litwinschuh), Nick (Lutz Simon Eilert) and Miechen (Helena Pieske). But Sabine, suffering with mental health problems, can’t cope with her parental responsibilities. The father is well-meaning, although any assistance is strictly of the remote, debit card variety. One day, Sabine books herself into hospital to get over her “demons”, leaving Jonas, the eldest, in charge.
After the initial thrill of adult-free independence, the house falls into disrepair. While scavenging in bins, Jonas meets Felix (Ludwig Trepte), who becomes a kind of mentor. Felix mocks Jonas – he calls him “Dwarf” – but they strike up an awkward friendship. Despite Jonas’s best efforts, his siblings are ill and starving and their home is becoming shrouded in cobwebs.

We’re in the midst of the big summer holiday in North America, with Canadians coming off July 1st and Americans gearing up for July 4th. So, it’s the perfect time for the first trailer for an art dramedy about an eccentric painter, right? Well, the folks behind “Final Portrait” sure think so.
Starring Geoffrey Rush, Armie Hammer, Clémence Poésy, Tony Shalhoub and Sylvie Testud, and directed by Stanley Tucci, the film is “a charming, modest” look at the unique artistic process of painter Alberto Giacometti, as he hits down to compose a portrait of art-lover James Lord.

The historical feature is billed as “the story of the touching and offbeat friendship between American writer and art-lover James Lord and Alberto Giacometti, as seen through Lord’s eyes and revealing unique insight into the beauty, frustration, profundity and sometimes the chaos of the artistic process.
