Ahead of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, rumors erupted that a secret David Lynch project would be heading to the event. While such gossip may not have borne any fruit whatsoever (and was actually shot down by Lynch himself), The Hollywood Reporter can confirm that the legendary filmmaker will be having some involvement in the 2023 edition of the festival.
The David Lynch Foundation is set to host a panel discussion about film music at the American Pavilion, having teamed up with Irish entertainment and tech start-up Xavatar and Planet X Studios.

Star Wars is in full gear now at Disney and more is happening than ever before. Today brings the official word about another animated series coming to Disney Xd, in the form of a Lego series, The Freemaker Adventures. Disney Xd has announced plans for a summer premiere for "Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures," an animated adventure-comedy series that will introduce new heroes and villains to the "Star War" universe along with visiting a few familiar characters.
Taking place between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," the series revolves around the Freemakers - a family of scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy.
When their youngest discovers a natural connection with the Force through an ancient artifact, the Kyber Saber, he and his family are thrown into an epic struggle against the Empire.
Wil Film, the Lego Group and Lucasfilm are producing the project which was developed for TV by Bill Motz and Bob Roth ("Penguins of Madagascar") who will serve as executive producers alongside Torsten Jacobson and Jill Wilfert.

Amazon has some new kids’ show pilots for its subscribers to consider greenlighting into full series. The streaming video platform has picked up six new animated pilots for its fall 2015 pilot round of children’s programming, with all the pilots set for release on November 5, 2015.
The first two pilots Amazon will release, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and The Numberlys, are aimed at preschool-aged children. Written and developed by Ken Scarborough (Arthur) and based on the book by the same name, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie follows the story of Mouse and Oliver as they start an adventure in one place and eventually end up back home after a flurry of twists and turns. Has it really been seven years since the last time we saw a David Lynch feature film? Reliable sources tell me that it has, since Inland Empire came out way back in 2006, when I was a young ingenue. Of course, Lynch has not exactly vanished, hanging out with Louis C.K., tweeting about transcendental meditation, making art, being David Lynch. But nothing on a proper David Lynch film has yet hit the interwebs … until now.
Bob Roth – who helps to head up an organization started by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi that Lynch is also involved with- has commented that Lynch “was working on a new script and it was typically dark.” Roth’s little revelation did not sit too well with the director, who commented that “Bobby’s got a big mouth,” but went on to more or less confirm the statement by saying that “I think people will probably recognize it [the script].”

While there was a period of time when David Lynch was a cinematic workhorse -- "Lost Highway," "The Straight Story" and "Mulholland Drive" were all released between 1997 and 2001, to give you an idea -- but he's since diversified his creative output. 2006 was the last time we saw a feature from the director with "Inland Empire," and since he's taken on a variety of ventures including fashion house helmer, concert webcaster, aspiring artist and "Louis" guest star. While he's been continually asked about his next movie, Lynch has generally deflected by saying he's waiting for the right inspiration to strike. But could he already have something brewing? The New York Times Magazine recently profiled Lynch, and more specifically his increasing work on transcendental meditation, but talk still turned toward the movies.
