Thomas “Eromose” Ikimi, director of the Tribeca Film Festival player “88,” has been tapped to write a new drama about a fierce wildlife preservationist and activist.
Eromose will write the screenplay for “Manaka,” a story inspired by the organization Saving the Wild and its founder Jamie Joseph. The Zimbabwean-born South African founded the charitable foundation to help protect rhinos from poaching, as well as to tell authentic stories about frontline workers protecting the species from going extinct.
Robbie and LuckyChap partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara will produce alongside Anthony Mastromauro for Im Entertainment and Charles Randolph. Brad Feinstein is also producing and financing through his Romulus Entertainment banner, alongside his development partner Christina Weiss Lurie of Fourth & Twenty Eight.
“It’s an honor to be working on a project of such importance to Africa. The complex rhino poaching crisis exposes wider ramifications, not only for South Africa, but for the entire continent.

Severe weather shuts down production on Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson
Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah, starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, may be the most high-profile film industry casualty of Superstorm Sandy.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the exterior sets for Noah – including the 450ft-long ark – were constructed directly in the storm's path in Oyster Bay on Long Island Sound; the damage to the area has made it impossible to fully assess what has survived Sandy's impact. The $115m budget film was due to have finished shooting on 9 November, but this will be pushed back as the production has been shut down since Sunday 28 October. (It is due to restart on Thursday 1 November.) However, studio Paramount is confident no delay to its planned release date of 28 March 2013 will occur, as any losses will be covered by insurance.

The economic losses from Hurricane Sandy are projected to be enormous.
With theater closings, cancelations, and production schedule interruptions, the entertainment industry was hit hard.
The overall estimate from Ihs Global Insight puts losses at between $30 billion and $50 billion and THR is reporting the entertainment industry alone is set to see losses in the millions.
"With showbiz people, it's always where there's a will, there's a way," Michael Pressman, executive producer of "Blue Bloods" said in an interview THR. But "once they pulled the permits and closed the bridges and tunnels, we couldn't get actors to the set."
With movie theaters shuttered across the Northeast, ticket sales brought in $6 million on Monday, 40% lower than sales from the same Monday in 2011. Multiple concerts from big names such as The xx and Ghostface Killah were canceled, meaning they must either be rescheduled or face the cost of refunding ticket-holders. Television and movie...

Ericson Core ("Invincible") has come on board to direct indie action crime caper "Youngstown Boys" reports Variety.
The true story follows the biggest bank heist in U.S. history which took place in 1972 in Laguna Beach, California. A gang of thieves from Ohio set out to steal $30 million in illegal campaign contributions and blackmail money from President Nixon.
The thieves however went to the wrong bank, hitting a United California Bank instead of Nixon's home Bank of America branch. Making off with an estimated $12 million, seven of the eight conspirators were quickly caught but the getaway driver was able to flee and wasn't arrested until 1980.
Ken Hixon ("Welcome to the Rileys, City by the Sea") penned the most recent version of the script while Anthony Mastromauro is producing.
