NewportFILM Outdoors has unveiled its upcoming season of award-winning documentaries. The organization showcases non-fiction features and screens them in dramatic, often opulent settings around Newport, Rhode Island, a legendary summer getaway. This year is no exception, with some of the screenings taking place at such storied venues as Rough Point, a Gilded Age mansion that was the home of Doris Duke, and Marble House, the “summer cottage” of William K. Vanderbilt.
The season kicks off on Thursday, June 23rd with a Sundance favorite, Jono McLeod’s “My Old School” from Magnolia Pictures, which will open the series. Showtime’s upcoming documentary “McEnroe,” a look at tennis great John McEnroe, has the closing night slot and will screen, quite fittingly, at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The series runs weekly through Sept. 1.
Highlights include HBO Documentary Films’ “The Princess,” a deep dive into the life of Princess Diana; “Master of Light,...

Ddb has released a new ad for Arnott’s brand Tim Tam, which shows consumers picking the famous chocolate bars from trees at Martin Place.
The ad is based on an experiential event the Tim Tam “orchard”, which was erected a fortnight ago. The ad ends with the tag line ‘Truly, Madly Tim Tam’.
The campaign comes the week after Arnott’s parted ways with agency Gpy&R, awarding Ddb the entire account.
Leif Stromnes, MD for strategy and innovation at Ddb Group Sydney said: “The idea behind this first execution of Truly, Madly Tim Tam came straight from our Facebook community and we really wanted to give back to these fans who gave us such a great idea to work with. What better way to come full circle than to create personalised ads which feature the names of individual Tim Tam fans and actually run across both TV and...

Cast members of "American Idiot" perform on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Friday

New York — If someone came up to you and called you an American idiot, you wouldn't react too kindly. But for the people in the audience for Friday's "Good Morning America" Summer Concert, the insult became a chant of praise for the cast of Green Day's Broadway musical. Families and punk rockers alike had gathered in Central Park, holding up signs and wearing T-shirts for "American Idiot" and the band behind the Tony-winning show.
The cast opened with the chorus of "American Idiot," accompanied by a mixture of choreographed movement and punkish freestyle head-banging, getting the audience excited. They ended with the salute to punk rock, their fists held in the air as the audience screamed.

Parallel Worlds are very much in fashion at the moment.
There are dramas such as FlashForward and Paradox on TV while, on the big screen, the latest Star Trek movie created an alternative universe through time travel.
So sci-fi thriller Triple Hit has come along at just the right time.
And yet it still manages to seem refreshingly different. I can't recall a series or movie where there were three incarnations of the same person existing on wildly different versions of Earth.
The film was made by Leamington-based Entanglement Productions and won third place in the Best Film Category at the recent Institute of Videography awards, held at Coventry's Ricoh Arena. It was then screened at the first Falstaff International Film Festival in Stratford-on-Avon.
Triple Hit's writer and director Huw Bowen (pictured right) said: "The film festival was a lot of fun, and we won another award - Special Mention for Best Visual Effects,...

Leamington Spa film company Entanglement Productions has won third place in the Best Film category of the Iov (Institute of Videography) awards with its sci-fi thriller Triple Hit.
The film's writer/producer/director Huw Bowen is pictured below receving the award from Iov's Chris Waterlow and former Tomorrow's World star Maggie Philbin in an Oscars-style ceremony at the Iov Annual Convention, held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
Triple Hit was one of only five short-listed titles within the Best Film category. Judges were looking for exceptional video production standards, originality and creative flair.
The film is among the 150-plus movies being screened this week at the first Falstaff International Film Festival in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire.
The film - previously called Schrodinger's Girl - centres on Rebecca Hunter, a disgraced scientist conducting research into alternate universes. She discovers a way to travel between realities and then finds her parallel-world counterparts have...

In this four minute report over at BBC4, arts correspondent Rebecca Jones manages to talk to screen writer Joe Pehnall, play an interview clip with the author of The Road himself, Cormac McCarthy, and most importantly of all play a portion of music that Australian rocker Nick Cave wrote for the film.
This is the first time a single note of the score has been heard outside of a few early screening rooms so check it out. It's haunting, simple, perfect. Still no word on the actual release date of the film but Jones does confirm that the film is finished.
