Betty and Jughead took a break from the Great Black Hood Hunt this week on Riverdale, so they could both get in touch with their inner Serpent.
Jughead’s dad F.P. is getting out of jail — something about overcrowding; don’t overthink it — and Jughead is there to greet him when he gets out, along with Betty and her mom Alice, who immediately asks F.P. if he’s “incredibly sexually frustrated.” (Welcome home, I guess.) Supernatural‘s Dean may have more in common with Lucifer’s offspring Jack than the hunter would like to admit, and we’re not talking about both fellas’ penchant for devouring their food.
Although the elder Winchester would like nothing more than to wipe Satan’s spawn off the face of Earth, the two share “the commonality of loss,” notes new series regular Alexander Calvert, who plays Jack. After all, Dean recently lost his mom Mary and his friend Castiel, while Jack never even had the chance to get to know his chosen father Cas before he died. “That’s...

Do you have a recurring nightmare? Mine is the oh-so passé “being chased”. It’s always the same; hunted relentlessly by an unknown assailant, helplessly fleeing from a certain doom. Of course, I wake up in a puddle of sweat, crying out for mommy, as one will do. The fear of cutthroat pursuit is at the center of Nightmare City (1980), Umberto Lenzi’s take on the then resurgent zombie sub-genre. And while you won’t wake up screaming after seeing it, you might end up covered in a sticky sweet glaze of Wtf. The Italians don’t make their horror in half measures; I’m pretty sure Nightmare City throws in the whole cup.
I should say, Italian/Spanish/Mexican. This co-co-production was released in Italy in December, toured around Europe for a couple of years, and then landed on North American soil late ’83 under the title City of the Walking Dead,...

“The Grand Tour” co-host Richard Hammond is under fire for making a joke during the Amazon series’ sixth episode about not eating ice cream because he’s straight.
The conversation began when Jeremy Clarkson was talking about the interior of a Rolls Royce, stating, “The only problem is that in one of those, you couldn’t enjoy a chocolate Magnum ice cream.”
It was then that Hammond replied, “It’s all right, I don’t eat ice cream. It’s something to do with being straight.”
As the audience began to applaud, Clarkson and James May looked taken aback. “Why are you applauding him?” Clarkson asked. “What do you mean?…You’re saying all children are homosexual?”
Hammond continued by saying, “Ice cream is a bit – you know. There’s nothing wrong with it, but a grown man eating an ice cream – it’s that way, rather than that way.

There have been a number of interesting books released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, but there’s no question that 50 Artists 50 Years is the handsomest. As the title makes clear, the premise is simple: 50 respected artists, all with wildly unique styles, were tasked with creating a work of art highlighting some element of the Trek universe. If there were an Olympic medal for keeping your friends close but your enemies closer, Power‘s Ghost would take gold after this week’s episode.
Because — as our anti-hero learns during the hour — while he was busy dodging Lobos/trying to second-guess Angela/stopping Tariq from turning into a juvenile delinquent/wondering where baby Tasha is (Jk, because No One ever wonders where baby Tasha is!), James “Ghost” St. Patrick inadvertently hired one of his biggest enemies… and gave him an all-access pass to his professional and personal lives.

Jessica Rabbit kidnapped by Nazis. Costner rescuing Princess Diana. We look back at a few strange movie sequels that were never made…
The multi-million dollar success of any movie will inevitably leave Hollywood executives clamouring for a sequel. And while there are plenty of movies whose stories are open-ended enough to warrant a return to the creative well, there are many times when coming up with a follow-up idea requires all sorts of imaginative leaps. Just look at something like Alien: Resurrection, which had to come up an elaborate reason why Ripley had (spoiler alert) managed to survive a swan-dive into a lead foundry in Alien 3.
Which brings us to this list, which is devoted to a few of the weirder sequel ideas that never made it to the big screen. An E.T. sequel in which little Elliott gets tortured by aliens? Forrest Gump dancing with Princess Diana?...

Buffy, Doctor Who, Star Trek and more have all devoted episodes to members of their supporting cast...
Over an extended run, some television shows give off the impression that all life in their universe revolves around a small number of characters, but if they run long enough, writers and producers will invariably have to look elsewhere every once in a whle. Maybe on another day to every other episode, when the forces of evil rally and all seems lost, the good guys are... otherwise occupied, leaving someone else to pick up the slack.
As a dramatic convention in pop culture, foregrounding minor characters dates at least as far back as Tom Stoppard's 1966 play Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, which takes place “in the wings” of Shakespeare's Hamlet as the two minor characters have little comprehension of the tragic events going on concurrently. But over the years, geek...

Fringe, Supernatural, Bob's Burgers... zombies pop up in all kinds of surprising places. Remember that time Ramsay Street was invaded?
Back in the 80s and 90s, the only groups regularly enjoying zombie movies were habitually stoned students, young lads looking to prove their mettle by lobbing VHS grenades of gore at each other's minds, and great sweating giants with mutton-chops corseted into two-sizes-too-small Iron Maiden T-shirts. Very few couples partook of the genre; liver-ripping and eye-gouging was rarely seen as the essential romantic complement to an evening entwined on the couch.
Aside from George A Romero’s satirical side-swipes at society, the majority of zombie movies were gloriously nasty, schlocky yuck-fests, with names like ‘Return Of The Great Zombie Intenstine Carnival III’, 'Zombies! Zombies, Oh, Christ Zombies, They're Eating My Eyes!' and ‘I Claw-hammered My Zombie Grandma’S Head Off’. Anyone with access to a video camera,...
