Sophia Lillis is hot on the trail of her latest mystery in this new clip for Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. It looks like someone has broken into the house she is living in and has given her a scare, and she is trying to get to the bottom of who is was, how they got in, and why they were there.
The Nancy Drew books were so much fun for me when I was a kid. I loved that I never saw the twists and turns coming, but that they were all being solved by a girl about my age. When there weren’t a whole of major female role models, Nancy Drew was there. She was ahead of her time, and the books totally hold up through any decade, in my opinion. So I think it is smart and fun that this movie can reintroduce the iconic character to a new generation.

“Every small town has a dark side."
The first trailer has dropped for the upcoming new film Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase which stars Sophia Lillis, who played Beverly in the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's It. She seems like the perfect fit to play this classic character and it looks like a film that my girls will enjoy.
The film focuses on Nancy Drew (Lillis), "a smart high schooler with a penchant for keen observation and deduction, who stumbles upon the haunting of a local home. A bit of an outsider struggling to fit into her new surroundings, Nancy and her pals set out to solve the mystery, make new friends, and establish their place in the community."
The film is being directed by Katt Shea (Poison Ivy) from a script written by Nina Fiore and John Herrera (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Vampire Diaries).

Sophia Lillis, who played Beverly Marsh in the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's It, has just landed another perfect role. She is set to play Nancy Drew in WB's upcoming film Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase.
Lillis is a talented young actor that gave a fantastic performance in It, and I can't think of anyone better to take on the role of Nancy Drew! I'm excited for her because it's another step in what could be a very successful career in acting.
The Hidden Staircase was initially released in 1930 as the second volume in the Nancy Drew series, which was written by Mildred Wirt Benson and published under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene. Here's the description from the book:

Hoult plays a young infected man who discovers Nia (Stewart) has feelings, but she seems to be able to hide them. When he confronts her, they feel love and intimacy for the first time in their lives.
Ridley Scott, Michael Schaefer, Ann Ruark, Jay Stern and Chip Diggins will produce. Shooting begins in Japan and Singapore in August.

The type of comedy that will likely reject the Robert Redford brave-stance in All is Lost, Larry Charles has had three tries with Sacha Baron Cohen and we’ve yet to see the darker, subversive material we’ve been looking for…but something about two gents in the great outdoors not seeking some kind of spiritual quest sounds like a place that Alexandre Payne might visit and might be refreshingly authentic. A Walk In the Woods will also be an occasion to see what Little Miss Sunshine writer Michael Arndt can bring to the table as well – we’re hoping for a mix of situational funny and wry approach to companionship.

Larry Charles has signed on today to direct Robert Redford and Nick Nolte in an adaptation of Bill Bryson’s best selling memoir A Walk In The Woods. The film will tell the story of an aging travel writer who decides to hike the 2000 mile Appalachian trail, accompanied by an old friend whom he doesn’t quite get along with. What begins as a regular buddy movie becomes something deeper, and the trail slowly comes to represent how they see each other.
The script was written by Michael Arndt, best known for writing Little Miss Sunshine, and Wildwood Enterprises’ Redford and Bill Holderman are producing along with Route One Films’ Chip Diggins.
The ever-humourous Larry Charles had this to say on the whole affair:

Robert Redford is set to replace filmmaker Richard Linklater as director of the independently financed film adaptation of Bill Bryson's popular 1998 lightly comedic travel memoir "A Walk in the Woods".
Redford also produces and star in the film which involves two boyhood friends who go their separate ways and come back later in life for an outdoor adventure - a walk along the Appalachian Trail.
Nick Nolte will co-star as the other friend and the pair make wry observations about life along their journey.
Redford has overseen a number of drafts of the screenplay, which the likes of Michael Arndt and Richard Russo have worked on.
Jay Stern, Chip Diggins and Bill Holderman also produce, while shooting could begin as early as this Fall.

I’m sure that Awol is familiar title for you, because we already had a little chat about this indie movie which is, by the way, based on a true story.
So, by now, you also know that Liam Hemsworth, Austin Stowell, Teresa Palmer and Aimee Teegarden are all on board to star in Danny Mooney‘s upcoming flick. But, here’s an interesting addition! Apparently now Wyatt Russell will join them as well.
As we previously reported, Awol will follow Stowell as a young soldier in Vietnam who gets dumped by his hometown girl, played by Teegarden.
On the other hand, Hemsworth plays his best friend who joins him in going Awol, and together, they return to the States to win her back. As for Russell, at this moment there’s still no character details for his role.

This review was written for the theatrical release of "Sex and Breakfast".Movies about sexual experimentation have sometimes been played satirically, like "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice," Paul Mazursky's landmark comedy from 1969. Others have traded in banal blather, like the well-meaning but leaden "Bliss" from 1997, which featured Terence Stamp as a sex therapist. Now a low-budget indie, "Sex and Breakfast", written and directed by Miles Brandman, takes the sober approach to the subject and ends up seeming turgid and pointless.
American filmmakers often have a problem confronting sexual topics with relaxed candor, and American audiences have never responded with much enthusiasm to a frank exploration of sexuality onscreen. They might buy teen comedies about sexual frustration but rarely embrace adult dramas about sexual fulfillment. That doesn't bode well for "Breakfast's" boxoffice prospects. The few viewers who sneak into the theater in search of titillation will be disappointed because the film doesn't show much skin. It's mainly an oh-so-earnest study of young people aching to expand their horizons.
Two couples -- James Macaulay Culkin) and Heather (Alexis Dziena) and Ellis (Kuno Becker) and Renee (Eliza Dushku) -- seek the services of sex therapist Dr. Wellbridge (Joanna Miles), who promotes the therapeutic value of wife-swapping and orgies. Heather is having a problem reaching orgasm, though we can't help but wonder if group sex is the best solution. As for Ellis and Renee, it's not quite clear what their problem is, except a mild sense of boredom and Renee's confession of fleeting lesbian fantasies. Their partner-swapping strengthens one relationship and destroys the other.
The movie's main virtue is its highly photogenic cast. Dushku and Dziena are luscious camera subjects, and Becker also will steam up a few spectacles. All four actors, including Culkin, do well within the limits of very one-dimensional roles. Jaime Ray Newman has a nifty cameo as a waitress who flirts with Renee. But it's hard to have a lot of sympathy for such attractive, well-heeled yuppies. (One mystery is why young people in Los Angeles, of all places, spend so much time riding around in cabs or limos rather than with their own wheels.)
The film takes a long time getting to the "money" scene of the group sex. This sequence starts off effectively, in complete silence, without any background music. But it never hits any erotic sparks, and the aftermath is distinctly anticlimactic. "Breakfast" is handsomely shot; the settings are minimalist but well chosen. An old, rather questionable maxim says that sex sells. Not in this wan rendition.
