Casino Royale (1967)
This was Fun
So,it has several directors and lacks a coherent storyline. But,it has several funny moments and a fine cast. And plenty of glamorous women.Loved Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond,in particular.I enjoyed it.
Rangeela (1995)
Great Music,Stunning Urmila
While the story isn't all that original, what makes this movie stand out is the breathtaking performance by Urmila. It was her big breakthrough and after that, she didn't look back.
The music by A.R.Rehman is terrific,as is R.G.V's direction.
Legally Blonde (2001)
Good Fun
An amusing film, and the best thing about it is Reese Witherspoon. It's the perfect vehicle for her comic talents.Several laugh out loud moments and hilarious one liners.
The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
Another Masterpiece by David Lean
Alongside A Passage to India,Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, this is among my favourite films directed by David Lean.
Alec Guinness plays a British prisoner of war,Colonel Nicholson,in Japanese captivity. This may well be the best performance of his career and his most memorable role as he clashes with the Japanese camp commandant.
The location shooting in the Sri Lankan jungle is beautifully done,as British prisoners of war are forced to build a bridge for their Japanese captors. The allied high command has plans of their own for the bridge.
It is a lengthy film, but kept me interested throughout.David Lean was a master film maker and here he is in top form.
Lost in Translation (2003)
Fabulous Film
One of my favourite films, loved it.Two lonely people in Tokyo, coming together.Superb cinematography, worth watching for that alone.Scarlett Johannson looks great and Bill Murray is good.
