Sitter Cam (2014)
Classic Lifetime Movie
This reminded me of so many of the Lifetime movies I used to watch with my grandma. It has a predictable storyline with an expected plot twist in the end. But I still found it enjoyable to watch. It's a good time waster.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
One of The Scariest
This is, by far, one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. It was fascinating to watch from beginning to end.
Death Note (2017)
I Don't Know Why Everyone Hates This Movie
Keep in mind that I have never seen the anime adaption of Death Note, but I plan on watching it soon. But in the meantime, I decided to watch the movie which was conveniently on Netflix.
Now I saw nothing wrong with this movie, I thought it was fascinating and I liked the actors. Sure, the pace could've been slowed down, but it's a movie for a reason. Movies tend to be more fast-paced than shows are.
And of course, compared to an anime, it's gonna be hella different. But that's no reason to bash this movie. I thought it was a pretty damn good movie. Maybe my opinion will change after watching the anime, maybe it won't.
Dismissed (2017)
Glad I watched It
If I'm being completely honest, I only watched Dismissed because it had Dylan Sprouse. But I'm glad I did because it was a very good movie and had amazing acting.
I've always liked movies focusing on psychopaths, and I actually found myself rooting for the antagonist in this movie. It was interesting to see just how far a student would go for that big, shiny A.
Better Watch Out (2016)
Perfect Mix Between A Scary Movie And A Christmas Movie
The movie had a major plot twist, and it actually made the movie better. The cast was great and the graphics were good. But it actually broke my heart when Garrett died, especially since his last words were "I want my mom,". This movie did a great job at portraying a truly messed up 12-year-old. The end did make up for all of that sorrow and heartbreak though. And I really wish there was a part 2.
13 Hrs (2010)
I Only Watched It Because It Had Tom Felton
I'll be honest, I only watched it because it had Tom Felton. And I was disappointed when he was one of the first to die. But the other characters encouraged me to keep watching. It was a pretty good movie, and I don't quite understand why it barely has any recognition. The graphics were pretty good. But at the end when Sarah was bald, the bald cap was very easy to spot.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015)
Great Movie
This movie made me feel likes that I will never be able to describe, just like in the book. They remade the book excellently. I really, really adore this movie.
The Hunger Games (2012)
The Differences Between The Book And The Movie Saddened me
Overall, I thought the movie was pretty fun to watch, especially since I've read the first book like three times. The filmmakers did a pretty good job with picking the cat, even though we book-fans might have envisioned the characters differently. But there were many noticeable differences between the film and the book, and they were kind of sad. I'll list some examples of the differences and why I thought they were sad.
Firstly, in the book, Katniss's Mockingjay pin was given to her by the mayor of District 12's daughter. But in the movie, Katniss just got it from a woman at the black market. I thought this change was kind of disheartening because in the book it made the mayor more human, in my eyes. And it showed the Katniss was more likable, by at least one person. But in the movie, we don't hear anything about the mayor's daughter.
Secondly, after Katniss volunteered, Peeta's dad visited her in the book and dropped off cookies. But in the movie, we don't see Peeta's dad at all. I liked this part of the book because it showed that he liked Katniss this whole time and that he didn't have any problems with her. And I guess that scene in the book gave Katniss another conflict to go through with knowing she might have to kill his son. And I liked this because it just brought more to the story.
Third, in the book, it was Cinna's idea for Peeta and Katniss to hold hands, but in the movie, it was Peeta's idea. I preferred it when it was Cinna's idea because it just proved that he was trying to keep the two alive as much as he could. And I feel like taking away that part of Cinna in the movie made him less likable.
Fourth, in the book, Peeta told Katniss that his mom favored the idea of Katniss winning for District 12 instead of Peeta. And he knew that because his mom also added onto that by saying, "She's a survivor.'' But in the movie, they excluded that added quotation. So Peeta could have merely misunderstood his mom. I preferred the book choice because it made me feel more for Peeta, and it brought a new level of sadness, knowing that his mom thought he'd most likely die.
Fifth, in the book, after Peeta pulled the whole ''crush'' stunt, Katniss got mad and pushed him into an urn, and his hands got cut on the broken shards. But in the movie, all she did was shove him against a wall. I guess this was understandable due to less time in the film, but I suppose it just upset me because it made Katniss seem less fierce in my eyes.
Sixth, in the book, after Rue's death, District 11 sent Katniss bread as a token of appreciation for her act of kindness to Rue. But in the movie, this did not happen at all. I liked what happened in the book because it showed that the Districts were coming together due to Katniss's strength.
Seventh, in the book, after the gamemakers declared that only one tribute would be allowed to live, Katniss thought Peeta was about to kill her, so she drew an arrow at him. But in the movie, this does not happen. I thought what happened in the book was more entertaining to the understanding that Katniss is a multifaceted character that has many trust issues. And I felt that taking that out of the scene took away from her character makeup.
Now, this is the difference that pissed me off the most, the hounds. In the book, when the gamemakers released the hounds, Peeta and Katniss discovered that they had the eyes of each one of the fallen tributes. But in the movie, they appeared just as regular dog-like hounds.
The movie was excellent, despite the differences. I understand that the book would've been hard to re-create exactly. Suzanne Collins is an excellent author. And I would definitely recommend this movie to all fans of the book.
