Shabaash Mithu (2022)
Taapsi's performance held the film
And apart from her performance, the emotion of silent perseverance makes the film fresh in it's emotional material.
Slightly sloppy writing at the climax, and could have done a lot better with adult Noorie's casting.
Overall, an entertaining bollywood inspirational film that can be enjoyed with the family after a long day.
Dhamaka (2021)
One big story blunder
Spoiler alert!
When Arjun is shown as involved with terrorist then next his wife's death is shown. This should raise doubts in the mind of audience of his show that how can Arjun be involved with the terrorist attack and yet let his wife on the field.
The film was made in about a week and seems exactly so to me. Acting is very uncooked. Unnecessary overuse of handheld style cinematography. Nothing seems believable.
Seems like a try in making an American film in Bollywood and fails miserably so.
Shivaay (2016)
Disappointed
Disappointed from beginning and didn't watched completely.
Court (2014)
Not the film, but my taste
Its not that I find the film bad. I really find it well made. It's just not my taste. And since I get to share to the world how my taste is, I rate.
Sideways (2004)
Good characters, bad structure, and repeatitive.
I'm as confused to point out why I didn't like the film as much Miles is depressing throughout the film. I mean yes, I get it. He has a mental health issue. Then why don't they deal with it head on!
The whole film just keeps running around the bushes, trying to make audience laugh and empathise. And yes, Miles' situation does feel all relatable and realistic, no doubt about that. Butbthe whole film is simply introductory. We don't see an actual decision made by the central character. The film just kicks off. No setup, no payoff, nothing. We slowly get to know the real problem of the character, that's very late in the film. I mean, it's a great story, but it's dissapointingly ill-structured.
I loved the whole bond and dialogues between Miles and Jack (which I don't get to know why is called Derek by a women he slept with in the film).
Or maybe I m just getting it all wrong. Audience is probably just supposed to switch off their analysing mind away for comedy, and just enjoy the ride. If that's the case, cheers to 7.5 rating man, but I don't give a damn, its a bad film.
Sex Education (2019)
It will be known as the high school cult classic in future.
No words are able to describe how much Ilike each and everything about the show. Every scene man! Every dialogue! It's crafted with so much honesty! And how much did it taught me man! I wish it came out in my teenage so i could have learnt to build a better love life.
And how did the production got such an amazing cast! I mean, how can every actor be so good? There's not even a single moment where it seems someone is off their character.
Every department of show must have been best, but I would like to mention specially the Editors. Guys, you did a faaaaaaaaaantaaaaastic job. It'snot possible to pinpoint what I noticed, but I knew the show could have become much painful if there was no good editing.
(Spoiler alert) Though many must be disappointed at Maeve and Otis not getting together, and be angry on Isaac, I believe it's best for both of them. It's what happens in real life love after all. Relationships are not actually meant for love, but to become a better human. Love is just the bait.
I loved the show, and I will wait for the next season.
Shikara (2020)
Cinema is a fictional depiction of life.
It's sad that most viewers go with the trend, and right now the trend of tragic films is gone. Thankfully I got to watch it on prime video.
I do consider the film slow, but it wasn't boring. I was engrossed in the story from start to end. And I am totally unaware of the facts of real story, but thedepiction felt true. Violence and injustice wasn't exaggerated as most filmmakers and viewers prefer it today.
Everything was appropriate : story, screenplay, design, direction, sound, camera, poetry, dialogues and major part of performances.
The only thing I felt was that the older parts could have been played much better. They felt odd and unreally slow.
Nevertheless, the film took me to a different place for a while and that's only possible when the film touched some honesty.
I wish all the best for the team's next endeavors.
The Forgotten Army - Azaadi ke liye (2020)
I don't know what the rest of reviewers have to say.
I only judge an art by seeing what was the aim of its makers and did the art achieved that goal. And if the goal was to aware the audience about the INA's effort from singapore. That, indeed is achieved, at least to me. And so, in my opinion, this series is a super success. It not only achieves it's patriotic mission with it's superb title song and steller performances (which made me cry each and every time), but also gives me a very good time. There's honesty in it's humour, necessary passion in patriotism, and purity in love and honour. Nothing felt too fictitious, at the same time, kept everything a little dramatic, to not make it boring. Though some moments may be debatable as to being authentic or not, but the discussion is of no importance to either me or any fine layman. Those discussions are only important to cinephiles, which is a fun thing nonetheless.
I have had a very good time watching the whole season, one episode a day. Binging wasn't an option, and thankfully not, otherwise I wouldn't have enough tears for the whole series in one sitting.
This series is definitely worth a try to every prime user. It's a good detour from our daily soaps. But remember, do not binge. It's not good for your health. (Are personal disclaimers like this, a no no in a review?)
Happy watching!
Casablanca (1942)
The most crisp dialogues ever.
This film has the most interesting dialogues- shirt and insightful and dramatic.
Mission Mangal (2019)
This is a theatre experience film. Go watch it!
I'm seeing several negative reviews. I hope you understand to not believe in bogus one liner reviews.
I watched it first day first show. I had no expectations. And for me, it was a worth experience.
The joy I felt watching it with audience! When everyone shouts 'bharat mata ki jai' in unison! Just uplifts the soul!
I know it has it's down sides. But I will ways suspend my disbelief if the film is well written and well acted, which I found it is.
I found it perfectly inspiring (not preachy). Akshay's character's unfaltering hope and sense of humour was damn inspiring to watch! And all the characters were well written and acted. The story is tight and crisp! Yes, it has that emotion! It captured ISRO's attitude. But did it achieved, for me, what it had set out for, i.e. to inspire the next generation? May be no. Inspiration for next generation would come if it had shown more of the reality and technical struggle which the making of a spaceship goes through. In reality, I believe, it not possible to succeed just with pep-talks and ideas from jugaad. If the struggle had got more screentime and tried to show reality, it might have more impact on next generation.
But anyways, even I can't predict it's effect for sure. I can only say for myself.
But I still say, I was moved. Gave me an inspiration towards life.
I just enjoyed the experience, loved the acting and dialogues, and appreciate the effort to educate through films. Great work!
Beyond the Clouds (2017)
Life, as it is.
Seeing the film in complete view, its sweetly realistic. It's core is human behaviour and psychology. Director has really purlt in efforts to enlighten the human behaviour in situation of poverty and helplessness and familial bond. I absolutely loved the portrayal of emotions of the two lead characters.
Fantastic performance by all actors too.
The film is about hope. And more importantly, how life turns out to be different from what we expected. And that there's hope in having kind and humanity.
My personal favourite shot from the film is the single long take when after the verbal fight between brother and sister, they talk about their mother and both are bonded back again. So simple yet so effective. It's a cinematography lesson.
The use of birds in film reminds us of freedom and having hope for it. It's a fantastic visual way of saying it simply yet effectively, again.
Because I couldn't understand what might happen in story after the screentime runs out, I was annoyed and it kept me thinking. But maybe that was the point of storyteller. To not focus on whether the characters get what they want but making us see what life makes change in them.
The film is open ended, yet satisfying. I definitely enjoyed watching it.
Boyhood (2014)
The feeling of time.
Richard linklater does something with time. With Before trilogy, He makes moments timeless. And with this, he makes us realise how fast time flies by. And what is life. It's a simple story about a boy till he turns 18: so the title. Richard's films doesn't aim to offer entertainment, but to show reality and a little magic. Boyhood tells you to not worry about life's purpose. The childhood moments are soo relateable!
I just loved it. I even cried the morning after I watched it. It made me think of my own life differently. Thank you for making this movie!

Gone Girl (2014)
It's the kind of films you start disbelieving in the idea of marriage from.
The film is absolutely gripping from the first scene. The raw and chilling look of the wife makes us want to see the layers of her character. And the husband is also very well sketched in his flawed relationship to his twin. Interestingly confusing at first whether or not he is the murderer, but soon resolves that question and takes the story forward. The transformations of look of the wife is spectacular. Acting- A grade. Plotting of murder-amazing. Characters- believable, even the wife is relateable inspite her actions. What she wanted is what people want from each other in today's relationships. Marriage is compromising self to get the love of the partner, and wanting the other to be as they like, it's this relateable theme which grabs the attention on a deeper level.
No matter the compromises, things do get beneficial at the end. Oh! What a sarcasm on the face of people from the fine storyteller!
Raging Bull (1980)
Just adding
Oh the last scene! The fight from fear! The last dialogue moved my heart!
The Physician (2013)
Mainstream Entertainer
The character of Rob Cole is not very Strong as it could have been. He has no flaws. Actors have done their part very well, but the script is not the best of all. The story is otherwise very insightful and the film, very entertaining.
