It's a Sin (2021)
A history re-write
Another poor series from the supposed maestro. So much of this is written with 21st century attitudes about the early 80s. As someone who was there nothing, literally nothing, happened like it is portrayed.
No Time to Die (2021)
Overlong but enjoyable.
It's better than I expected. Not great, but good. Overlong and too much sentimentality. But good action sequences, a pleasingly good new '00' and Ana de Armas steals the show. An unexpected ending. Worth a watch.
B.O.T. and the Beasties (2021)
Good fun
My 6 year old son loves this programme. It is short, amusing, colourful and quite bizarre.
The Mummy Returns (2001)
Typical Hollywood Sequel
This film is an OK action/adventure film. Its disappointing because its not as good as the first one, and features an annoying kid. A typical Hollywood sequel: bigger budget, more special effects, worse script, not as good.
Man on the Moon (1999)
An unusual film about an unusual man
A real Jim Carrey tour de force, presumably about one of his heroes. So many funny and, even now, controversial moments. Definitely worth a watch. Thank you very much.
Inspector Morse: The Settling of the Sun (1988)
Very poor
A dreadful episode. A poor script with dislikable characters, badly directed.
Where Eagles Dare (1968)
A 1968 cracker
This is a rip-roaring WW2 adventure with great scenery, music, action sequences and, yes, a ludicrous plot but who cares? Sit back and enjoy.
Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
What a terrible film
Seriously this is an awful film about a very interesting subject. Margot Robbie is good, that's about it. The script, casting and director are poor. One made by luvvies for the luvvies.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011)
Great adaptation
This is a very good film, well cast and well shot. If you don't know the story at all youll probably have to watch it twice.
Suburra - La serie (2017)
One of the best series on Netflix
Great characters, a believable plotline, a very entertaining look into a side of Rome you haven't seen before. Just when you think you know who's on who's side, everything changes and changes again.
The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019)
Enjoyable film.
I've never read the book (or indeed any of Dickens' works) and enjoyed this movie. It moves along well for a story with so many characters. Slightly jarring to see such a colourful cast in 19th Century England, and the comedy is a bit hit and miss, but all the actors do a good job. Definitely worth seeing.
Hunter Killer (2018)
Good solid submarine action movie
It's not the greatest ever movie, but certainly more than passable.
The Two Popes (2019)
Two brilliant leads.
Hopkins and Pryce are brilliant. This is a really enjoyable thought provoking film with some beautiful scenes.
1917 (2019)
Really takes you there
Brilliantly filmed, well worth a watch for anyone who doesn't mind a bit of blood and guts.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Action stations
It's ok, and there is lots and lots and lots of action. Daisy Ridley is good. There are still way too many things they could have done better with these 3 films, and this one just sums it up.
La dolce vita (1960)
Terribly dated
Yes, a classic opening and a blonde in a (deserted) Trevi Fountain. But the acting and script are very 1960 and don't age well.
Baywatch (2017)
It's actually ok
This isn't going to trouble the Greatest Films Of All Time lists but it's watchable nonsense. I wasn't a fan of the original series, but at least this doesn't take itself seriously, in fact is really a comedy-drama. Zac Efron, The Rock and Alexandra Daddario are all good in it.
