Blood Red Sky (2021)

Every time the kid says "Mama" you have to drink a shot!

Because that's the only way to get through this overrated B-movie. And believe me, you will end up pretty drunk. Honestly, the kid was so goddamn annoying, it ruined what could have been a mediocre vampire movie. I wonder how it received so many good reviews.

Victoria (II) (2015)

Weak plot!

I enjoyed the movie. Acting and camera were great. However, the plot was completely implausible. Maybe it's just me, but I don't know of any woman who would join a group of drunk and violent strangers (men only) for a "private party" on a rooftop. It became even more implausible when she decided to help them as a driver in a bank robbery after being threatened by heavily armed gangsters. It just doesn't make sense. How can people who give this movie 10 stars ignore this?

Combat Girls (2011)

National Socialism is only the means to an end

The film is not bad and conveys a clear message. It is authentic to a certain extent. Everyone who grew up in Germany knows the neo-Nazi scene, even if it is negligibly small and insignificant. However, the focus in the film is not on National Socialism, but rather on how one distorts one's view of the world through given circumstances and perhaps also wrong decisions in the youth. The plot could just as easily have taken place in the radical left scene or any radical religious scene. At the end of the film, you'll learn why the main character slipped into the right milieu. Often it is just bad luck, for example when your caregiver and role model comes up with the wrong ideas in your childhood. But sometimes it's just the rebellion against the parents, while meeting the wrong people at the wrong moment, as the younger Svenja portrays. In the end, Marisa finally managed to create her own view of the world. The question remains whether Svenja can do this too.

Jungle (I) (2017)

Interesting watch, but not as genius as some people claim it to be

There are not many survival movies like that out there. I mean movies that portray the jungle like what it really is. A dangerous place in all it's beauty. However, I didn't feel empathy for the characters at all. Probably because there wasn't much character development and because of how they treated each other before splitting up. Not really what I would call friendship. The last 30 minutes were quite intense and a bit over the top. I guess we all know that people can get mental in situations like that, but I didn't like how much focus they put on it. The music made it worse. I almost got the feeling I am watching a horror movie. I know what they tried to do here, but I didn't like it. It would have been much more interesting to see how he actually survived out there for 3+ weeks. Well, all in all a solid watch, but nothing special.

Don't you have enough money to accept roles like that? I am glad I just skipped through the movie, because the 10 minutes I watched in total were absolutely horrible. A set full of amateurs and a fallen action hero who's just there for the pay check.

That was a hell of a ride! This movie perfectly combines action and comedy. It has everything you are looking for. It's smart, funny, thrilling, and not a single second boring to watch. The acting and character development was great. The only thing I didn't like is the ending, but that's just a matter of taste.

I give it 2 stars because yes, there are worse films! Honestly, if I would need to describe the film in one sentence, I'd say it's the precursor to Pearl Harbor. Full of the typical US patriotism BS without leaving out any cliché. The fact that it's from the 90s gives it a very special note. Action scenes are not only absurd, but rather amusing with Harrison Ford looking like a drunk when fighting off the pure evil of the world, soviet communists! Yes, the president of the United States of freaking America got skills and saves the day (surprise, surprise!). Once everyone is saved, the orchestra reaches its climax! The jet fighter salutes the president! The president salutes his daughter! The daughter salutes the fax machine! The white house is cheering! The whole world is cheering! ...and you start to ask yourself, where the heck can I sign up for a green card to become part of this glorious nation and free the world from terrorism and injustice?!

Split (IX) (2016)

Good movie but not perfect

I liked the overall idea, even though it reminded me a bit of "Identity". The acting was pretty decent. However, the fact alone that the girls did not try to escape by overwhelming one of his weaker personalities made it quite implausible. They were three teenagers! They could have easily built some weapons (there was a mirror in their bathroom and heavy ceramic). I mean, that's just plain stupid. I would have understood if it had been one girl alone, but three would not fight against one who doesn't even carry a weapon? Give me a break!

The Choice (I) (2016)

No chemistry and bad acting

I couldn't stand the characters of the main protagonists and the story was super cheesy, plain and predictable. On top of that, the acting was very bad. Sometimes I needed to look away from the screen as it got too embarrassing. I have no idea how this movie could get a rating of 6.6. Probably because of all the 10 star upvotes from 12 year old girls who like such a cheesy non-sense.

Destination Wedding (2018)

This movie feels like a bad trip

Two strangers meet at the airport by chance to visit a wedding. And believe me, not much happens from here on. Basically, the whole film is a continuous dialogue between the two characters. The dialogues are not funny at all, but rather unpleasant and pointless. Everything feels artificial and scripted. It almost felt as if the actors still had their scripts in their hands to read from. Even in the sex scene, the two have not stopped talking nonsense. Just completely awkward and unrealistic. Seriously, I needed to look away from the screen because it just felt so embarrassing. Furthermore, Keanu made these weird sounds throughout the film. I guess they were supposed to be funny, but they are not! They just made me cringe.

Boyhood (I) (2014)

I cannot understand how someone can rate this movie with 10 stars. ratings seem just so out of place these days. If someone likes a movie, it gets 10 stars. If someone dislikes a movie, it gets 1 star. Where's the point here? Same applies to this movie. Unfortunately, lots of people out there like to get bored to death!

Yes, it´s a great idea shooting a movie over a couple of years to illustrate how a boy grows up and becomes a young man, but that´s all the greatness you will encounter while watching this never ending story. There's not much happening. Actually, there's nothing happening at all. Most characters feel flat and two-dimensional as there is no character development. Honestly, I did not feel any emotion while watching this movie, just the relief when it ended. However, there are far worse movies out there, so 4 stars for this one seems legit.
