She Said (2022)
A Must Watch For Its Engaging Story & Sensitivity Towards The Delicate Subject
The story behind the famous New York Times article which exposed the biggest scandal in Hollywood sending shockwaves worldwide and started the #MeToo movement got me quite intrigued the moment I saw the trailer.
Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan fit perfectly as Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, the two journalists who take the responsibility of exposing Harvey's 3 decade old coverup of abuse, rape and many other crimes whilst balancing their family life.
Zoe Kazan did some of the weightlifting in the second half which took quite an interesting turn when she travels to California and the UK to interview the past victims and gather evidence from them.
One thing which stood out for me in this movie is the sensitivity where there was no such scene of Harvey's infamous exploits to attract the audience. Kudos to the makers behind this idea. The original audio recording between Harvey Weinstein and Ambra Gutierrez gave me a clear understanding about his modus operandi and the hotel corridor shots shown during that point of time was quite amazing as well.
Overall, this movie is a must watch for all those who still believe that morality, truth & righteousness still exist in today's world. Despite being surrounded by manipulation, deceit and power misuse.
An amazing movie which might be remembered for generations to come....
Delhi Crime (2019)
After Sacred Games, This One Takes It To A Whole New Level
After watching the crime patrol episode and the BBC documentary India's Daughter based on the infamous 2012 Delhi Gang rape, this one is something to watch out for. The main highlight of this web-series is Shefali Shah as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi who is portrayed as a hard task master and a no-nonsense person in this entire web-series, Jaya Bhattacharya, who became famous for her antagonistic portrayals in various Indian TV shows and a small role in Bhansali's Devdas was splendid as the devoted juvenile officer assisting the DCP in the case.
Apart from Shefali, Rasika Duggal looks splendid as the freshly graduated IPS officer taking care of the rape victim and her family. Yashaswi Dayama looked natural as Shefali's rebellious teenage daughter who secretly takes part in the protests taking place in the city.
One thing I loved about this series is the plot which keeps the viewers intrigued and you don't want to leave until the series is complete. The background music is on par with the Hollywood and this will surely be remembered by majority of the Netflix fans in India.
Don't miss this one, it is worth your time and money.....
Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)
The much better war film without going overboard
Uri is one such movie which changed the meaning of a patriotic film. Despite bringing the political angle in some of the scenes, the film did not get distracted during the entire course of the film.
Vicky's acting was just fabulous, Mohit Raina also did justice to his role, Paresh Rawal was just mind blowing as the clever and shrewd National Security Advisor. The best part about the film was the planning of surgical strike which was shown beautifully in the movie. Every minute gave me goosebumps and jumpscares during the intense scenes.
Overall, this film is just perfect for the generation of today who believe in humanity...
Sanju (2018)
Ranbir Kapoor performs well but Vicky Kaushal takes the cake
An amazing comeback by RK junior who has outshined everyone with his performance of playing the legendary actor Sanjay Dutt. Ranbir breathes in each and every portion of Sanjay Dutt's character and Vicky Kaushal did an amazing job by playing the role of his best friend. This is the only movie after Kal Ho Naa Ho which got a lot of tears in my eyes and it also had a very good meaning which is very important to most of the youngsters.
Overall, I feel Ranbir should be in roles like this in the near future and hats off to Hirani for roping Ranbir for Sanjay Dutt, he nailed it.
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018)
Another Chak De India like film after 11 years
I loved the movie, the best part about the movie is the simplicity which was maintained throughout the movie. Most people tend to use a realistic situation and completely complicate the storyline but this movie was grounded and it kept me guessing the whole minute.
John acts just like Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De India and Boman gives full justice to the role of PM's secretary. The music was good, I especially loved 'Shubh Din' song.
There should be more movies like this to come in the future.
Omerta (2017)
Rajkummar Rao: The Next Superstar After SRK and Amitabh Bachchan
Rajkummar Rao breathes into the character of Omar Saeed Sheikh and the best part about it is that it looks like the combination of two movies namely 'A Mighty Heart' and the director Hansal Mehta's very-own 'Shahid' which featured Rajkummar Rao himself. The plot keeps you hooked and there is an unpredictable pace during the Daniel Pearl kidnapping which kept me hooked and petrified. This movie is must watch for those who are bored of masala-potboilers and overrated movies.
Hichki (2018)
Rani's best comeback after Mardaani
Finally after a long time we are getting to see a good content based movie which is actually about the upliftment of the deprived children of the society. I actually loved the children and how they are portrayed in the movie. It also has a message that education can be made interactive and fun at the same time. I just loved Rani's acting and kudos to the makers who have thought of this interesting subject.
Padmaavat (2018)
Harry Potter series+Batman Trilogy+ Avengers series= Padmaavat
I was patiently waiting for this movie, despite the useless hullabaloo which was caused by the politicians. I knew that this movie had no such controversy element in it and it was on par with the best of hollywood. There were many flaws especially the ending could have been changed. My advice to the director would be try to focus on endings with a happy note rather than focusing on tragedies all your lifetime.
Munich (2005)
A master filmmaker's take on Munich massacre
I watched this movie today and i was deeply traumatized after what happened to those innocent Israeli athletes who were brutally slaughtered and the German authorities failed to save them, the best part i liked in this movie was the thrilling factor which gave me goosebumps while watching. i can somehow relate it to an Indian's point of view as India also has enemies who masterminded the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts and the gruesome carnage which paralyzed Mumbai for 3 days are still on the run. This movie is a must watch for every Indian soldier who has the desire to serve and die for the country. The violent scenes could have been toned down a bit but otherwise it is still outstanding.
Force 2 (2016)
Thought provoking & intense action
A mixture of Skyfall, Mission:Impossible:Rogue Nation with a message, John looks as usual his best, Sonakshi's character is portrayed as a foolish and timid RAW officer which is not right, Tahir Bhasin shines like diamond, Tahir has combined two villains in this movie, which includes the playing of mouth organ as done by SRK in Darr and the devious smile and the 'always have a plan' attitude by Javier Bardem in Skyfall. The main highlight of this movie was the suspense which hooked me up. Director Abhinay Deo has done a good job by showing the first person action mode which was very exciting. Let's hope Force becomes a franchise on par with the Hollywood franchises
Singham Returns (2014)
An eye opener to the gullible audience
We have read and seen Ramayana for years together, there is a part where Raavan disguises himself as a priest to abduct Sita and Sita falls into his trap too. This is what this movie depicts and it has happened in real-life also. When i saw this movie in a multiplex, this is what struck me saying that, there are Raavans in real life too disguising as priests and doing atrocious activities. The movie had a OK storyline as it was more of CID without ACP Pradyuman and Abhijeet. Daya pulled off really well playing a role of the cop just like in CID. Eye openers to youth and old alike. More than the main cast, i liked Anupam Kher, i idolized his character a lot. It's a must watch for our Indians.
Kahaani (2012)
Got me freaked out till the end
I watched this movie in Movies OK channel when it premiered for the first time. I got myself hooked to the plot, the twist and turns and the unpredictable pace of the movie gave me goosebumps and despite not having any male lead in it. This movie proved that even one woman show works in Bollywood. I like the sudden transformation of Vidya Balan from the controversial actress Silk Smitha in 'The Dirty Picture' to a traumatized pregnant woman. The only character i liked in the movie was Sub-inspector Rana, who was always with Vidya Bagchi in the difficult times. Amitabh Bachchan's voice over and the 'Ekla Chalo re' is tremendously composed. Can't wait to see the sequel.
Mardaani (2014)
The real police officer better than Chulbul Pandey and Bajirao Singham
This is one such movie which shows about a real police officer who leaves no stone unturned to eradicate the sex trafficking gang. We usually see police officers in movies in a really silly manner. I really don't think this could be a rip-off of Taken as Taken had a really different story-line. This movie had achieved one thing that even women can kick some bag,the best part of the movie is the suspense hooked up in the climax when Rani Mukherjee enters the antagonist's house and gets captured but she had even planned her own capture by having a bunch of knives in her shoes.
Rani Mukherjee's acting was far more better than any other actresses who has done this role. Along with Chulbul Pandey and Bajirao Singham we have Shivani Shivaji Roy next.
Fashion (2008)
"Rags to Riches" story and gives a message that too much luxuries can lead to destruction
'Fashion' is one such much movie which was out of the box, i still remember, i was in 10th standard when this movie came out. During that time i was hooked to its songs especially 'Kuch khaas' sung by neha bhasin and 'Mar Jaawa' by shruti pathak, which was quite hummable. I like the way director Madhur Bhandarkar weaved the story about aspiring models from small towns come all the way to achieve big in the glamour capital of India Mumbai. It even showed about the ruthlessness of the businessmen who manipulates these youngsters and hurt their emotions which is damaging. I especially liked the scene where Kangana motivates Priyanka Chopra to shut the mouth of the biggies who insulted her and never feel too guilty about oneself. The narration by Priyanka Chopra throughout the movie explaining about her life in the fashion industry was tight and captivating. Kudos to the star cast and the cameos in it.
