Busanhaeng (2016)
So good
Showing up to the zombie party so late it could almost have been called an homage, Train to Busan hits all the right notes for me. Somewhere between Murder On The Orient Express and Dawn of the Dead, this little film about things that die but don't stay dead somehow finds new ways to refresh a somewhat tired trope. It's so confident in its material that you might even be tricked into thinking it started the zombie craze itself waaay back in the mid-00s. The plot follows workaholic father Seok-woo and his daughter Su-an who take a train on their way to Su-an's mothers place because Su-an doesn't like him because hes never around and also he had the audacity to buy her a video game console she already had. They meet a plethora of interesting characters aboard the train. Someone sneaks on board however and almost immediately things start to go awry. The real MVP here are the characters, you want them all to live. You love them. You cry when they're gone and you curse the director for taking them from you. One in particular legitimately gets me choked up and everytime I rewatch the movie I hope this time it's going to be different. Even if you don't like zombie movies, I recommend you give this one a shot!
Star Trek: Voyager: Heroes and Demons (1995)
Schweitzer? I barely knew her!
This episode is actually a lot of fun. Yes, it's a holodeck episode, but I like the fact that it's centered around the doctor and his attempts to locate missing crewmen. Not every episode can be a 10/10 life changing episode that pushes the overall story forward but as filler episodes go, this one is ok by me.
Andromeda: The Banks of the Lethe (2000)
Lost love
Damn, Dylan really caught feelings for this chick Sarah back in the day. Then some time loop happens and BAM all of a sudden he's like risking his crusade to resistate the commonwealth just to chill in the past with his lady. But no, he's such a good guy that instead of choosing Sarah's booty, he realises that the commonwealth is bigger then their relationship and returns to the present without her...
I'm crying, man!
